When I averaged 30 seconds your videos weren't of much help because your tutorials were for advanced solvers but now that I am sub 20 your videos help me so much!! Sadly I am a kid and cannot afford to support you on patreon. So this is what I could do. Support you through a comment. Because you support me through your tutorials. Thank you so much!!!!!

I've been averaging around 9-10 seconds recently, and I was stuck in the 15 seconds barrier before that. I've done slow turning but it didn't work out well for me. I discovered that you have to have good cross to f2l transition (key element in sub 10) and fast F2L transitions. It comes naturally after you keep on solving AND learning from your solves. When you learn i mean you know you should not turn at full tps but at a fast tps. Then, i made my OLL and PLL transition faster by not turning at full tps but at a fast tps. Your solve should look like a "dance" to make a solve fast. Then boom, sub 10.

What about some tips on regrips? You say in your video on how to be sub-15 that one should minimize regrips to get faster. But I'm at 16-17 and don't know how to minimize regrips more to get time advantage. And also: What is worth more learning? LL subsets like COLL or LS subsets like WV?

I'd like to see a video on inconsistent solve times talking about some of the causes and ways it can be fixed. If I had to chose I think I'd rather be consistent but slower than have a wide variation of times.
@JPerm
@JPerm 5 жыл бұрын
well one reason is 3- or 4-look LL being inconsistent for number of looks. another thing is F2L recognition/searching/look ahead varies based on how easy the cases are to see, even if their move count is similar. I mention consistency in one of the videos in this series regarding not messing up look ahead on hard solves

My main weakness is f2l it usually takes me over half the time I get just to finish f2l, I also take a while to do the cross. I also have terrible look ahead and ok tps. Oll and pll are relatively fast because I’m better with algorithms than actually figuring it out myself. My pauses also take a second or two which makes my time even longer.

I average 18-19 and Ive found out that most the times i get 14-16s its always when my turning is slow and smooth. I have quite a rough style, and i think that slows me down. It makes me panic because my speed of doing an F2L case is slow because it was catchy due to my rough turning style. I thing tps should be spoke about more in cubing because, ive only just started to notice how important your speed of your solves are.

J Perm: "Faster Cubers look slow" Me: "whOaAH hE FAst!" I know my own weaknesses without recording 1. Slow dot OLL for 2LOLL 2. Not Searching for 1st pair while finishing cross 3. F2L Look ahead 4. Only knowing 1 good way to pair up most cases 5. Sometimes forgetting to check yellow cross when white cross is hard (I can solve from both white or yellow cross) 6. TPS, which I recently improved but for cross it's not very good and for F2L I improved TPS immensely recently.

@cececley
@cececley 2 жыл бұрын
Noo please don’t waste time learning OLL right now! What you should mainly focus on is improving your F2L and 4LL. You shouldn`t even worry about OLL before your atleast sub 30. Take this from me, I average 20-23 seconds and am soon to hit sub 20. I occacionally get sub 20 solves and only just started learning OLL to cut off the few seconds that prevent me from getting constant sub 20 solves, even now my main focus isn`t OLL but rather look ahead. Also if you don`t know PLL yet you should start learning that before OLL.
