After a very long wait, I tackle the issue of grudges, hatred, and forgiveness in fiction. Using three examples, The Good (Attack On Titan), The Bad (Vinland Saga), and The Ugly (Avatar: The Last Airbender). All of this to demonstrate why forgiving others, and yourself, is essential.
Thank you all for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe!

forgiveness is not about reconciliation. i wouldn't expect someone who has been abused or raped to become all buddy-buddy with the one who ruined their life, but it's important to not let resentment and hatred take over.

Indeed. People often conflate the two. Nothing about forgiveness means we have to be someone's friend haha. But it does mean we have to let go of our resentment and hatred

This was a beautiful and very well done video. Three of the most brilliant shows of this generation showing such contrasting yet complementary and profound depictions of one concept. This was my first time seeing that AOT scene since release and first time hearing the dub... and holy crap, that line "we gotta get the children out of that forest" genuinely made me cry, such a poignant statement it makes you realise there really is nothing as important in this world than ending those cycles of generational violence. I'm not too big on the ol' Christianity myself and was initially stightly jarred by the ending since i wasn't expecting it, but as another commenter said it didn't come off as preachy and offered an interesting perspective that I normally wouldn't hear. Thanks for the video, hope your channel grows dude!

I'm humbled you think the video was so well done haha. I try to present my own perspective without beating people over the head with it. Unless I'm trying to be overtly more critical and have fun with it like my Mass Effect critique lol

Recently watching through ATLA again. Watching lots of videos around is and discovered you. As a Protestant Christian with a love for stories, fiction and philosophy I have found myself musing and thinking alot about these stories in the life of a Christian. Today I found you as I’ve found myself mired in all this. I see many similar interests as well, as I’m picking up keenly on your usage of Halo music. Subbing to your channel and really enjoying your perspectives. Especially from a Christian point of view. God Bless.

What a great look at three different examples of forgiveness (and the lack thereof). You give a multitude of wise statements about wisdom by using your examples to make your point! It is really good what you are doing here! Keep it up! I'll say again, you do a great job of analyzing these shows with a Christian perspective and best of all without getting preachy about it! The Christian message you are giving flows naturally into your greater video essay.

I'm very glad that you enjoy my videos! And that you think I do weave my belief of Christianity into the video as well. I may get delayed and go through it, but I don't plan to stop making videos any time soon haha

“If a man insults me, kills my father, my mother, my brother, and then gouges out my eye, as a Christian it is my duty to forgive him. We who are pious Christians ought to love our enemies and forgive them. We ought to offer them food and drink, and entreat God for their souls. And then we should say: ‘My God, I beseech Thee to forgive me, as I have forgiven my enemies.’” + St. Kosmas Aitolos (sorry, I'm Orthodox and just felt compelled to paste a relevant moving quote for this powerful video from the far eastern society with big seeds of the truth, so to speak)

Beautiful quote! This is what the Church teaches, and it is difficult, but beautiful. "When a handful of sand is thrown into the ocean, is it not completely and utterly swallowed up by the abyss and depth of the ocean? Then do not think that any sin is too much for God to forgive." I cannot remember the saint who said this, but it has stuck with me ☦

@@tsarnicholasiiiofthegreatr5578 I love St. Isaac but you might be confusing it, I've seen this quote attributed to St. Kosmas Aitolos many times. He certainly would write something similar, the radical simplicity is beautiful.

@@tsarnicholasiiiofthegreatr5578 Hm interesting, I wonder how they confused it then... St. Kosmas is usually known more for apparent prophecy stuff. It is unfortunate at times we don't know what quote belongs to who or what is verified.

“Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace” - Some instagram quote idk
@GhostEmblem
@GhostEmblem 8 ай бұрын
I actually think thats a pretty terrible way to think about forgiveness. Others absolutely deserve forgiveness its something you do for them not for yourself. Regardless of the toll of revenge forgiveness is often not only are harder to do but usually has detrimental life consequences (like forgiving someone for stealing making you worse off by a loaf of bread. Just an example). If your only doing it for yourself then it only matters how difficult that revenge is to achieve whether you should pursue it or not.

Are any religion or anything they teach you my peg and guards teach me that revenge and secret of my enemy would be like me pouring a bottle of rap poison drinking it down and expecting them to die it's just like The last airbender said when you actually go into vengeance you are poisoning yourself henceforth you are not just destroying your enemy but your enemy is destroying you your enemy always Win
