This makes me realize that KZfaq is exposing massively a way of knowing that is usually private. Being a witness of a dialogue gives access to another kind of knowledge that wasn't available before, uneless you were part of the dialogue.

I’ve been tryna tease out this same thought for the last couple months. Jonathan introducing me to the symbolic world has really helped me see that in reality nothing is good or bad it’s all about it’s use. Reason I bring this up is that Jonathan showing us this new level of thinking gives us the ability to fight on confidently in each of our own narratives to defeat the evils in our own lives. The internet has been used as a tool to curate and form thought in our society, but like a vaccine there will be people who beat the virus inevitably after being exposed to the tricks. Those who plot to bring about the end of the world also bring about their end as well and a new beginning for the rest of us. Amen brother ✊🏾

A hungarian guy here. I confirm Jonathan's statement about our legendary self identification. In our chronicles from the middle ages we have a legend about Hunor and Magor, sons of Nimrod, the simbolic ancestors of the huns and the hungarians, who occupied their lands chasing a miraculous stag to the west. Unfortunately, there is a neopagan spirituality rising among our people, that emphasize the figure of Nimrod and his rebellious and proud spirit over the story of Christ
@elektrotehnik94
@elektrotehnik94 2 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna take your word for it in everything you say --> Look at it this way: nobody yet is articulating the story of Christ good enough for it to be more relevant to people than the figure of Nimrod. Seems like we have a job to do, as best we can, when our time comes
@dikaioskyrios

@@elektrotehnik94 Perhaps the best way to articulate the story of Christ is to live it, to bring the story into daily life/experience, so that people, rather than considering yet another story, will find themselves in the actual story, or put another way, will find themselves confronted with the activity of the story

Sam, see Jonathan's discussion with Fr. Stephen de Young, as well as Fr. Stephen's podcasts and book. He covers much of the same material as Heiser, but does so in a much more thorough manner. I'm not knocking Dr. Heiser's knowledge, but when he starts applying it to theological implications, he tends to go a little sideways.

@@Gregorydrobny Regarding Heiser, could you give some examples of where he goes a little sideways? The only controversial positions I can think of is the idea that the angels to which the nations of Babel were given were good at first, but went bad later.

The classical Greeks understood the world was repeatedly destroyed and remade. Destruction of the world by water (cataclysm) and destruction of the world by fire (ekpyrosis). I often view Genesis and Revelation as the bookends of our age. I also agree that there is a fractal or scale-invariant nature to this universe with the same patterns manifesting at different scales of observation and so these stories aren't just describing historical and prophetic events on the largest scale of human experience (though I'm a geologist so I can't help but view them in those terms) but also the beginning and end of everything which has a beginning and end.

Very interesting discussion on syncretism! I’ve wondered a lot over the years about how every civilization seems to have threads of truth that echo the Judeo-Christian ideas / stories. I think it’s bc God has manifested himself to all peoples in one way or another over time, it usually just becomes lost or perverted. Always thought it was interesting that ancient cultures in Mesoamerica like the Aztecs committed human sacrifice. Why were they doing that?
@danielpk6725
@danielpk6725 2 жыл бұрын
probably because the archetypes and "principalities in higher places" are as real as can be, the aztec are a good example of a people under the "spell" of a dark principality, if you analyse the conquest of America it has HUGE symbolic significance: a trinity of ships under the guide of "Christopher"("like-Christ") "traveling on water" to get to this new land, it was a "cosmic battle" that had to happen. (if this sounds too politically incorrect, well I dont know what to tell you, it is what it is...) and a similar situation happened to the ancient israelites according to the old testament they were originally pagan people from canaan/phoenicia giving cult to Ba'al, Abraham was an Assyrian gentile (from Ur specifically) he was commanded to go into Canaan and from theses people he founded what we know as the ancient hebrews/israelites Genesis 11. 27 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begat Abraham, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees Genesis 11. 31 And Terah took Abraham his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abraham’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan that's why the story of the flood and Noah is basically the same as the Sumerian poem of Gilgamesh

If Revelation is myth, how can these people bring about the end of the world? If there is nothing to go by, and revel isn't real, what happens now?
@inturnetavatar
@inturnetavatar 2 жыл бұрын
@@Baa975 I never said they will, I said that those that plot to also plan their own ending. You’re also viewing too literal, myth doesn’t make what the story is trying to say false. The “Myth” is simply describing a pattern in reality, which all good stories do. All stories are pulling from reality so that means whatever the story is saying is true on some level.

2 Peter 1:19-21 KJVS [19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: [20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
