An informative video explaining why heat treatments fail so many times on a home. One thing that I forgot to mention in the video is it can take 3-6 months AFTER a heat treatment to realize the bedbugs are still in the home, this is because of their hatch cycle and growth rate. ALSO I was informed that many flat screen Televisions will ruin with a heat treatment. If this Television is removed from the home in order to perform a heat treatment and then put back into the home afterwards AND there are bedbugs inside the television....how does a heat treatment eliminate these problems? As a property manager, I had three homes that were infested with bed bugs. No less than four different exterminators failed. Heat treatment worked first time on all three and never returned.

one of the biggest issues with "pesticide exterminators" is not using the right pesticide or not knowing where to apply to be effective. I have been behind many heat treatment exterminators and pesticide exterminators and a mix of the two as well and fixed all their mess-ups by being thorough and choosing the right pesticide for the job. A great deal of exterminators want to pick a "one size fits all" pesticide but in most cases that just isn't the right choice. They want to pick a pesticide that, when applied, can also control ants and roaches and other pests but the most effective pesticide right now is only labeled for bed bugs alone. This causes a lot of inconvenience for the applicator because they have to switch pesticides after or before the job.

My company Uses heat but we does the wall voids such as the electrical sockets and light sockets docs before applying thethat's the 1st step and we. Remove all wicker products out of the home

I had never even seen a bedbug in my life until I was 65 years old and got them. 😩 I sprayed and took care of them myself. It did take a couple months but it's been almost a year since I have had another one! Thank God!

I spent well over a thousand dollars over several years for sprays, foggers, powders, encasements, bed post traps, and yes this included exterminators. I threw out mattresses, furniture, desks, etc... In the end it was all unnecessary. I read up on heat treatments and I might add that there is a lot of negative out there about heat treatments. (it makes me wonder who is negative about it and for what reason) If you are not careless about it and take safety precautions, this will work very well. I safely heated each room of my home up to 140 degrees for 40 minutes and I have been bed bug free for 2 years now. Heat treatments really work. It killed bedbugs and eggs. All the other sprays, foams, traps, foggers, encasements, assessories, and snake oils may help thin out the population.... but I simply cannot argue with the results I got using 1 single heat treatment.

Glen Arnold crossfire is the pesticide to end all pesticides for bedbugs right now. It along with things like alpine WSG are amazing but they are new and most people don’t even know they exist

Heat treatments can be extremely effective for bed bugs. It's all about how you use the heat and the protocols that are followed by the technicians. Not all heat is the same. Propane is different than electric. After doing Heat treatments for nearly 10 years, call back rates are around 5% rather than nearly 10% with traditional treatments. I believe that no matter what the treatment, the treatment is only as good as the person/people applying it. I always recommend that consumers should look into the company (BBB, Online reviews, etc.)....make sure technicians have a certification in the state they are working in.....the company has written service protocols.....the company gives a warranty for their work.

Heat treatment worked no problem for me but I also live in Phoenix az so me and the wife just stayed at an hotel for a few nights and let the house cook

Then your not doing it right. Im just a costumer who didn't want to spend the $2000+ on a 6 month warranty. I spent the same amount with a lifetime warranty by buying my own equipment. I haven't had a problem with bed bugs since.

Jason, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln had a bed bug infestation in two dorms and used heat on two high rise dormitories as a last resort before school start and it eliminated the problem.

Thanks for the video. In the context of an apartment - would you say bedbugs would be more likely to climb UP or DOWN the walls? or to a next door/ADJACENT apartment? Assuming no cracks in the walls, I would be inclined to believe DOWN away from the heat which rises? What're your thoughts?

Well thanks for your video,but I found that the only thing that worked for us was heat treatment procedure. We had several pest control chemical treatments but they didn't work...tried the heat...bed bugs gone!

In pest control for three years and got thrown into bed bug work and hundreds of jobs using chemical. My company also does heat. In my opinion both work. One of the main reasons heat will fail to work is that customers will either try to self treat which will drive bud bugs away momentarily to areas a heat treatment won't effectively reach or the customer wait for the population to blow up and there are bed bugs that are a distance away from the treatment area. In both cases chem or heat treatments may fail. Also my company has a generator that powers our heaters so we don't raise a customer's electric bill. Any company using heat and doesn't have a power source....run from.

Chemical treatment is better, using a combination of Cimexa,Zenprox, or Alpine WSG. Problem with heat treatment is it leaves no residual. Same with tenting with Vikane gas; kills everything in the house, but leaves zero residual to prevent re-occurance. Other problem with heat...if you have any valuable antiques, or like myself,vintage guitars, heat will ruin them, and you can't even take your vintage guitars out of the house because they might be in the cases.

I don’t manufacture or sell pesticides I only have links to places people can trust to purchase pesticides that work. I know heat doesn’t work because I do this for a living every day and have for over 30 years of my life. Pay the high prices of heat treatments. I will still be here when it doesn’t work so you can find options that will work.

Hi yes I have been battling I bed bugs since I moved here and I noticed that when I clean the walls I covered the holes with caulking and make sure the cracks were filled in and it actually works I covered my daughter's bed with a bed bug protector and then I just clean it I can't use a bed cover yet everything I buy is too expensive it smells really bad and we can't have anything that is chemical due to Medical so I wanted to give advice about just cleaning keeping up on where they like to be at and the walls they can be in the walls I live in an old home and they like to be in the cracks and where there were nails at there were coming out of the nails nail holes so I noticed they don't really talk about that I hope I've helped somebody thank you very much for your time and this video God bless.

Excellent Video in my point of view usually I treat with B&G or ULV fogger machine with temprid,(Depends on the situation) and DeltaDust on outlets, and I treat everywhere in the house, to be honest its doing great down here in FL, can't complaint at all even thought a lot of people told me its not effective, its working for me like a charm and a lot of happy customers, and I agree with you on the video so expensive for no precision.

The heat worked for us, anything we could pack up was thrown in the box truck to be heated and commercial heaters were used in the house. We sprayed afterwards with essential oils and pyrethrins after the heat treat and have not seen a bed bug since.

Respectfully disagree with your assessment. Heat does work if done properly and in conjunction with treatment and follow up. Take a look at research from Va Tech, Dr. Deni Miller. Research has shown that chemical resistance has increased with bedbugs making chemical alone very difficult. Any treatment type done improperly will fail.

I agree, I have been behind chemical applicators as well who have done AWFUL jobs but I have been behind more who have done improper heat treatments. I have no problem what so ever eliminating bed bugs with chemical application though but maybe this is because of my extensive experience. I do not use heat treatments because chemical has yet to fail me. I would be more inclined to use heat treatments if my applications ceased to work.

When I discovered that I had bed bugs, I threw out my mattress and purchased a high quality, very durable air mattress. I now wake up completely bed bug bite free and the mattress is just as comfortable as any standard mattress I have owned. Now and then new tenants in my building bring along these uninvited guests with them, which results in my bed getting infested again. I simply give the bed linens a thorough hot washing (sometimes twice to be sure), wipe down the surface of the mattress with rubbing alcohol (the surface is all that needs to be wiped down since these little buggers can't get inside the mattress), and again I sleep comfortably without getting a single bed bug bite. As an added precaution I spray the surrounding area where my bed rests with insecticide.

An air mattress is one option. I would like to know your brand because those things are awful on my back haha! Also on your seam comment, that is one thing about a standard mattress, the seams are very bad for bed bugs. I have once or twice opened a seam and found hundreds of bedbugs hiding inside. Air mattresses don't have seams so that is a plus.

The air mattress I purchased is called Simply Sleeper. As with all air mattresses air will escape inevitably causing one to slide off the mattress. In my case that's about once a month, but with just a flip of the switch the mattress can be adjusted to your comfort level within seconds (until the following month). A small price to pay in my opinion. Also, I live in a multi cat household and was concerned that one of my feline room mates might claw a hole in the mattress. The material is very durable and none of my cats have penetrated it as of this writing, and I have observed them clawing at it from time to time. Best of luck to you friend.

I am performing a heat treatment tomorrow! I borrowed some diesel heat equipment from a frind in restoration! I hope your wrong bc I have already spent to much on pest control for them to fail me after they cleared my house.... 3 weeks later they are back. The equipment I am using moves 700cu ft min and is capable of a 120f temp rise. I have treated the house my self over the last 3 weeks with chemicals which seem to work as I haven't seen any signs of them in 2 weeks. Doing the heat treatment as a caution to hopefully kill any remAining eggs or bed bugs

I have a question?? Is there anyway I can get rid of bed bugs on my own? What’s really unusual about my situation is I’m not getting bit at all. My brother whom sleeps in my guest room is getting bit. And I haven’t seen not one BB, but my grandma said she did see one and killed it. Is it ever possible if it’s not highly infested and it’s just a small problem, can it be self treated? Or Do I need a specialist? I’m on low income.

Hello! I have bats in my attic and I think we have bat bugs, not bed bugs. I bought cross fire, but should I focus more on the ceiling trim instead of baseboards? All help is appreciated!!!!

I would first start by making sure weather they are bed or bat bugs. Put one under a microscope and see if it has long hairs up by the head. Bat bugs have longer hairs there. If bat bugs you will first have to have the bats removed and insulation replaced. If the bugs have made it down into your home they should be treated exactly the same as if bedbugs.

could you answer this plz? I can't afford an exterminator but if I throw the mattresses, clutter, remove clothing and vac as many and best I can. spray with a beg bug bully product, then bomb with a bed bug bomb. then use a propane room torch to heat treat after do you think that will do it? I have 2 upstairs rooms were they are one really small one mid size and a tiny bathroom mind you I'm in an apartment

I had my house inspected today. There were only a few the guy found didn't look like a full blown infestation and it was only in one room, (my bedroom) I'm worried about doing a chemical treatment due to the fact that I'm pregnant and I don't know how toxic it is and id really like to get back into sleeping in my own room. So we agreed on heat treatment for 2 days from now... We're doing my.room and the room next to it even though none were found there just for precautions... Is it accurate? Its a trailer that's about 2 years old brand new when we bought it. What would you recommend? Honestly? I'd be for chemicals but I'm not sure if that's even an option. Especially considering there were only a few.... Visible and some encasements.

How do you get rid of bed bugs that may be possibly invisible off of older pictures? I am currently prepping for treating my apartment. Is there a way to be sure that there are no invisible eggs on them or nymphs without damaging the picture (8x10s of deceased parents and album photos)? Do I need to store them for about 2 years in a sealed bag no matter what? I don't want to unpack the photos and possibly be re-infested after treatment...what do I do? I thought I saw small amount of specks on the back of one, but nothing else. I check ALL specks now because of this.....Thanks for your videos.

one good trap . use barrier cups , next get a mouse aquarium. leave the top off and keep it by your bed with some painters tape on the outside so bedbugs can climb up. the bedbugs climb up and in after the mice c02 plus once in they cant climb out of the glass and the mice love bedbugs its like a steak dinner to them. may sound cruel but it works and is echo friendly. I learned this from my family in wv, its called the hillbilly bedbug trap and it works even when your out work. I'm working on a patent on this also.

Hey I have a few questions. My mom's apartment is getting bad. They got it sprayed and now they find some on the ceiling. Anyways, I was told they were gone so I went to her place for 15 mins. . I moved into my sisters and after I went to my mother's I had a nap at my sisters and woke up and saw a beatle . I went to grab it and it exploded blood . So I knew it was a bed bug. I have like 12 bites in a straight thine almost along my waist line by my boxers. I haven't found a single other bedbug anywhere. But I'm starting to get tiny little marks smd itchy. But nothing like the big odd shaped red itchy bites on my stomach. Is it more likely I am alergic to the laundry soap that I'm not use to? Since I can't see a single one and I vacuumed the bed and washed everything. Now I'm getting itchy all over like a sharp itchy and if I keep scratching I get tiny little bumps. Please respond! I've never dealt with this in my life. P.s. my sister bought my mom lavander bed bug spray (think it's lavander) and the guy that came in to spray the apartment said he found a lot that were dead. Do you think the spray works? It was a cheap 10 dollar spray

You may be allergic to the detergent. I would keep up watching for the bed bugs though because nymphs are very small and you may not catch them right away. As far as the lavender spray.... I have no idea on its ability to kill bugs. My first guess would be no but there may be other filler type chemicals in the spray that will kill the bugs like salt or boric acid

My Apartment complex are charged me 900.00 for a heat Treatment which i feel i shold not have too be Responsible for i haven't had any pest Control in my unit for 2yrs and i dont feel that its fair the previous landlord was fired for theft and has neglected all the units .it actually sad how they dont do their jobs and exspect for struggling ppl to pay up.

Can diatomaceous earth kill bed bugs? I use it for fleas + vacuuming and it it works great! I keep the DE brushed into cracks between walls & baseboards & around the outside.

Bed bug heat treatments can work if done right. However, a lot of the negative aspects he shares are accurate. Personally I feel you are better off with a spray treatment. Bed bugs are smart critters so the escape tactics bed bugs use that he explains in the video sounds accurate. From my experience, a spray treatment done properly along with bed bug powder is the most powerful way to fully eliminate bed bugs.

Hi Jason once again coming for more advice lol. Had a scare last night. We got to our hotel and I did my disinfect the room and then was about to check the bed for bed bugs when directly on the bedspread was a bedbug. I freaked a bit called front desk and got moved to another room. Thankfully none found in this room. My question is what should I do to prevent any possible hitchhiking in my luggage since we were in that room for twenty minutes. I know it's probably an over reaction and having to take a chill pill was a bit crazy but the thought of bugs that multiply like crazy feed on humans and hitchhike makes me freak just a bit. From now on I will be checking room before moving my belongings into it.

I know this is late advise but #1 NEVER bring your luggage into a room until you search for bugs first. If you have to, put it into the BATHTUB until your search is complete. #2 always search for bugs first and then disinfect the room (if you feel you must) #3 its unfortunate but when you come home, quarantine your bags because you can get bugs from anywhere. Airplanes, buses, libraries, restaurants. Anywhere infected people go, they can spread the bugs to. Hotels are always the first to get blamed but you can get them from literally anywhere.

Totally but respectful disagree, i am not a pro at all, but by watching KZfaq videos and doing a little research on my on, i completely treated my parents home 3 years ago by myself, using rented kerosene heaters and a few fans, no return of bugs since. Heat works period.

Thanks for the information. I have a few questions, if you wouldn't mind taking the time to answer them. I would greatly appreciate it. I've dealt with fleas before. Going over someones house and realizing they have fleas and then ultimately bringing them home. I can deal with fleas, that's not a problem. However, about a week ago I had a friend come over and he waited until he was at my house sleeping on my couch to tell me that his old house had bed bugs and he had bed bug bites on his legs. He said it was two houses ago and that he got rid of his bed. I'm not sure what other furniture they got rid of. Right now I've noticed a few fleas. (I know they're fleas because they jump and I can't see them.) Anyway, I may be just paranoid, but I'm afraid of getting bed bugs. I've inspected my furniture and such thoroughly and see no signs of bed bugs, just some flea eggs out in the open. I dry out the eggs and throw them away. Anything I can do to help prevent an initial infestation of bed bugs? Better safe than sorry. My next question is as an exterminator what precautions do you take in order to not bring pests home with you? I would like to take those same precautions. My final question is from your experience which chemicals and methods work the best for a bed bug treatment? There is a lot of inaccurate information on the internet, so I'm hoping to hear from someone with your experience. Thanks.

*I would also like to note that he said they realized them pretty quickly and his mom called an exterminator and did a lot of other treatments. (I didn't get the specifics.) Even dealing with just fleas makes me want to seclude myself because the potential of aquiring an infestation is too risky.

What is that crawly feeling on my skin? The apartments said they are babies. When I spay or Heat they go away. I have had them 3 times in my HUD apartment Building in Northern Oklahoma.

You can see bed bugs if that’s what is crawling on you. It may be a mite or flea on you. In that case the spray will kill them if they are what’s coming after you

Heat will kill bedbugs but the problem with heat treatments is in older homes and even some newer homes the bedbugs can retreat into the wall voids. You can always bag your things and place them in the attic or a hot car during the day. I have had customers do this and it has worked. I just spent $1,200 for heat treatment and $300 for hotel for family. Came back home and the bugs were still alive in the same areas they were. I called the exterminators and now I'm waiting to see if they will honor their warranty or if I'm going to sue them.

A lot of companies do heat. I don’t because I see so many houses where it fails. There are some companies who can do heat just fine and it works for them. If management is paying for it then let them and see what happens.

Curious about the fact that some have said that Heat treatment causes a fire. What in the house would cause your home to catch fire? I have concerns.

I would think it can with combustable materials that are in a pressurized can but from what I have read the heat is around 130-150 degrees or so which is not nearly enough to make cloth burst into flame or anything but any pressurized canister like hairspray could pop but it would need a flame to actually ignite. Note I am not a pest control professional I am just looking to get rid of some bugs.

these evil little critters can be killed by heat treatment if it is done correctly. I heat to 165F indoors, during a west Texas summer. also, these bugs only start to freak out at 118 degrees in the room.. at 121 degrees, they stop moving and die. basically, turn the house into a convection oven :D the idea is once you have the house heated, change the pattern of the fans to focus on the walls. I have never had a callback for bedbugs. it takes a solid 12-15 hours, depending on sq ft, but I do agree on the cost. I generally charge around $1 per sq ft. no spiders, no ants, nothing kicking in those homes I treated. other companies that are bigger charge so many thousands of dollars. it takes one guy, with the investment of an awesome heat system, and the intent on getting rid of these things. I got into it because I had bedbugs 3 times in my adult life and I went through hell to get rid of them.

I have been fighting bed bugs for a month now. I have been using sprays, fogs, and dust. Nothing is working. I check my dressers they aren't in my dressers but I have an air mattress on my bed frame. The air mattress is covered but I tried everything that I could think of. I don't want to get rid of my bed frame I already got rid of my actual mattress. They only come out after 12 am. I am scared that they have gotten into the wall in my room. I am desperate. I live with my mother in a trailer. But they are only in my room. It's been months I'm only seeing 1-3 at a time. When I think I almost killed them I will see one more or just some babies. I can't afford an exterminator. Mom won't help me pay and I only get $200-$300 a week which I am still paying other bills. Help

My mother also says the only reason why I have them is cause I'm a nasty person. I tried to explain to her that they don't care if that house is clean or dirty. They just go for anything that they can feed on. But she won't listen to me therefore which leads to where I am the only one trying to get rid of them due to no help besides my boyfriend.

I would have to disagree we had our house heated and they kept it headed for awhile and checked for cold spots. It wasn't that expensive, pretty much the same amount it was for termites. Termites being fumigated rather then roasted of course. It's been a few years since then and we've had a few outbreaks in our neighborhood and the only one who didn't have success was teh one who tried the chemical approach. Not saying it doesn't work but sometimes you can't find where every little bugger is hiding.

The reason chemical treatments work every time, when done correctly, is because you bait them out. Bedbugs have to feed on a host and if they MUST crawl over pesticide to get into your bed for a meal they WILL die. It's like sitting a piece of chocolate cake on a table and then telling the toddler not to eat it..eventually they will take a bite

Jason the only chemical treatment I've researched that is 100% effective (but not overnight; it's supposed to take 4-5 weeks) AND safe is Beauveria Bassiana, that works vaguely the way Combat does (the bugs are infected, bring the infection back to the hiding places and infect all the others). What can you tell us about this - do _you_ use this?

Ok man heres my comment. Imagine commercial fishing boats, 200 boats, moored close to one another, fishermen going from boat to boat, each boat has sleeping quarters 4 to 6 bunks in a small room, all infested with bed bugs. Whats your advice for people who have to work on these boats like if you had to live on the boat for 2 months at a time while you were on board and oit at sea what would you do before leaving port you have like 3 days then your out to sea. What would you do in port before leaving, what would you bring, and what would you do while out at sea?

I respectfully disagree! For years we performed chemical alone, then heat alone., The IPM approach (chem and heat) works best. The chemical is used to establish zones they must cross to get away from the heat. After 100s of treatments our data shows if you have Cimex. activity 3 months after a properly done heat treatment. It is a new infestation because the egg to adult cycle is approximately 5 weeks with nymphs needing to feed every week between molts. If there is a meal nearby, adults and nymphs will feed every single day or week at the longest. With chemical only treatments, however, they can survive for several months inside a mattress/boxspring cover until it is compromised then emerge and eat. If done properly by experienced techs, the heat treatment works fine every time. If you warranty beyond 5-6 weeks and the client does not change their habits, who they hang with, who comes to their home, etc, and the source of initial infestation is never pinpointed, they will get reinfested, and you will perform retreats forever! By the way I'm a newbie, just started in the pest biz 30 years ago!

The reason I made this video is not to "bash" heat treatments. The point is to show that there are other options out there that may be less expensive. I work for many customers who just cannot afford heat treatments. What do we, as professionals, do for those people? At the end of the day we are paid to help someone eliminate their problem and if they can't afford heat and are ok with a longer elimination period then I see nothing wrong with residual sprays alone. They do work but require patience. I would hope when treating for fleas you instruct your customers it can take at least 21 days for results. I feel if one is able to wait 21 days for fleas they can wait a few days and save so much money over heat. For those unable to wait, they should hire a heat treatment pest control technician but be warned if the heat treatment does NOT work then be prepared to wait for the chemicals to do their job.

I think that in some cases, it is nearly impossible to get rid of them even with a combination of heat and residual chemical treatments. If the clutter is too thick, the heat won't work because there are too many cold pockets. And if the residence is structurally unsound, the cracks in the walls, floor, ceilings, etc can give the little bastards even more places to hide. Have you ever come across a hopeless case?

Cecil Hammerton that's what I'm worried about in my particular instance. Of course I'm probably overthinking the situation and i know I'm EXTREMELY paranoid, but i just moved into an older home that we were not aware had bed bugs. This home sat vacant for a year right before my family moved in, but bed bugs are capable of living for up to 18 months without feeding. They can basically hibernate. I know we did not have bed bugs in our previous home we lived there for 16 years with no insect problems. The first time i was bitten was the 2nd night we were in this house. Over the past six weeks we've come to the conclusion there are bed bugs here and we've now finally seen a few, so it's now confirmed. This old house has gaps in the base boards and floor boards and an attached garage/laundry room, so I'm freaking out we won't be able to solve the problem even with a thorough heat treatment. It's a massive concern to me.

isopropyl alcohol in a spry bottle kills them on contact, i had a minor breakout after helping a friend move, well i went to the dollar store and bought 20 bottles of alcohol put in a medium size sprayer and sprayed down my bedroom and continued to spray. my mattress every night and they died on contact. it took me about 2 or 3 weeks and. they never came back....

in 3.5 years, we have completed 642 Bed Bug Heat Treatments here in North Texas. of that number, we have had some call backs... about 4.2 percent. That is why reputable companies give a warranty. How many times have you completed an entire treatment in one day without ever having to go back? likely not many... or never. If a company knows what they are doing, there will not be any issues with the treatment or outcome.

Jason Ive noticed you are one of the few YT exterminator channels that actually responds.....occasionally. (You're a busy man, I don't expect miracles.) My roommate and the owner of the house I live in is getting the heat treatment done this Wednesday. And considering your view on heat treating, then you should hear about this one. First off, the heating will go from Wed to Friday. Why 3 days? Which was my first question. Well apparently they don't have big enough heaters to do the house all at once. Now this to me sent up many red flags and poses numerous problems. First off, I live in an average 4 bedroom 2 story home. No mansion by any stretch. So if your company can't do an average house in the same day, then perhaps you shouldn't be offering heat treatment as an option. More pressing questions are, how do they expect to keep the bed bugs from going into the areas that have been heat treated already??!! I also asked one of them how they deal with the problem of the bed bugs retreating to the outer walls and using the insulation as protection from the heat? Her genius answer was....."Well that is why we are having you remove all the outlet covers and wall plates from the walls. That way the heat will penetrate into it." All I could think was Uhhhhh......NO IT WON'T. It may and I mean may, penetrate that one small area where the outlet is, but it damn sure won't do anything to the rest of the voids that have 2x4's separating it!! And then they plan on doing some kind of spot insecticide treatment AFTER the heat treatment. Unfortunately this is out of my hands. The owner, who is a bit elderly, has his sister pretty much controlling things. And she's a bit of a know it all bitch. I tried asking about some of these concerns and she just looked down on me like I couldn't possibly know what I was talking about. So Im just going to watch my roommate pay over 3500 dollars for a job that will likely do no good in the end. Congrats.

That's really sad. Unfortunately in rentals we are at the mercy of our landlords decisions a lot of times, especially if they are footing the bill for the treatment. But if your roommate is paying for the treatment why does he have to consider the landlords opinion on who to use for the service at all? Jw. I moved into an apartment with activity that began shortly after moving in. And after reporting this to landlord, they sent in their regular pest control company to inspect and possibly heat treated, for which we would be charged. They reported upon inspecting that we had low level activity, and that many surrounding Apartments were infested, therefore they did not believe we brought them into the unit. Then scheduled the treatment for a week later. Landlord later informed us that we would not be expected to cover cost of treatment. We were told to vacate for a few hours. I washed and dried and bagged everyhting, emptied drawers, pulled furniture away from walls, vacuumed, enclosed our new mattress and box Springs with bed bug encasements, all of this fully expecting a dual heat and chemical treatment. We vacated apt for a few hours and upon returning I realized we had not received heat treatment. Skeptical about results I slowly unbagged things as I needed them, eventually unbagging and returning most items to closets and drawers. Unfortunately 2 weeks after treatment I started getting bites again. I fully believe that heat treatment with chemicals would have worked to eliminate our problem but I think the landlord hoped to reduce their cost of treating the unit. So now we're dealing with them again. And facing having to go thru the cost of laundering everything all over again. It seems unethical for the landlord to have leaned on the pest control company to go with cheapest option when it was obviously an existing problem... and putting us in jeopardy of having our furniture become full on infested as a result.

Tony Creech heat is not always the best option no matter what one “believes “ works. A great deal of the time heat is never the right option even for companies who normally push them. It is a shame that google is around and wrong ideas are pushed so frequently because a great deal many people follow those false assumptions and end up making their problem worse in the long run.

If you guys arent killing them when you do the heat treatment then youre doing it wrong. Grant it, heat isnt for every home, but it is for most. I use heat all the time and have excellent feedback from all customers. Its all in the prep work!

Unpopular opinion: How about you choose treatment method, combination, length, consistency, and all other factors based on the type of residence and severity of infestation? I think that's having the customer's best outcome and wallets in consideration.

I would say it might be a little extreme to say heat treatments don't work. I have seen them work really well in many situations. However I agree with most of what is being said here. We use chemical and we have never had a problem controlling them. We looked into heat but we have just never needed it. I agree 100% with what you are saying about customers being shocked at a low price. I think some of the crazy prices we are seeing are high just because they can be, The big secret in the pest control business is that bedbugs are not all that much more difficult to get rid of than roaches. Heat treatments are way too expensive and I have seen them fail.

Iam hoping somebody can help me with an answer I have been getting bite once every few days by what I suspected to be bed bugs have yet to find the culprit I sleep with white sheets on my bed no blood stains or feces I have checked the base boards the mattress and box spring and still don't see anything no moving activity I notice the bites the next morning but no bites before I go to bed I don't have fleas either and no allergies that would make me break out to be on the safe side how long should I dry my clothes different websites said 30 mins on high or 90 mins on high heat somebody please help I'm losing sleep cause I can't find these little bastards

An exterminator told us to put all our stuff in a uhaul and heat it up to 135 degrees. Where can I get one of those heat machines? Or what can we use to heat it up?

Holly Newman I don't really use heat machines but from what I understand about them there should be decent space for the circulation of the hot air. Now if you don't have many things this idea could work with the right size truck. Some of the people here who are more experienced than I am with heat may be able to help you out.

Green Akers Pest Control LLC we are not taking any of our furniture. just our tvs, clothes, file cabinet, dishes, deep freezer, washer and dryer, household things like knick knacks and towels etc. we are leaving all living room furniture and beds behind. we are moving to another place. the apt complex we live in is totally infested. I even had to go to the doctor because I had a bed bug in my ear. I'm sick of my kids getting bitten. the landlord will not do anything.

wow that is awful but I do hear these stories far too often. I hope where you move to is better about pest control. To answer your question it may work heating the truck to a good temperature but be sure the heat will not damage pictures, televisions etc because some flat screens will say right on the instruction sheet not to allow them to get above 116 degrees

The exterminator that I talked to said get it up to 135° for 4 hours. What do you think?

I think if the televisions are messed up because of the heat it will void your warranty..but I know of exterminators who treat with heat and do not damage appliances. I guess it's up to you

I agree with you to some extent. Understand, bed bug hot spots require heat up to 140 to 150 degrees. Videos show bed bugs exposed at this high heat shows bed bugs die within seconds.

I experienced bed bugs in my house recently and researched while eradicating them. We did fogs, egg sprays and high heat dryer for linens. Our infestation was not widespread after further investigation. The best course of action. Was diatomaceous earth forming wall barriers around the house. Large infestations will require heat at the source at 140 plus for extreme radification because of the shear numbers of bugs. Also, getting rid of your mattress and other furniture if extreme condition exist. We spent 3 months with using vinegar and water, which kills live bed bugs, but not eggs. Sprays, which kill eggs but needs a direct spray if you can see them. Insurance that if eggs hatched again was to form perimeters around the hot spot with diatomaceous earth. Brilliant!

One more tip...look for bed bug nests. Tipically between fasteners from bed frame to head board. Also, fasteners on a platform frame. Separate bed base from platform during treatment and after treatment for several months to ensure eradication.

Kill temperature of bedbugs is 120. 140 to 150 isn't necessary.

That isn’t true. Bed bugs themselves die at 118 but eggs don’t perish until their temperature reaches above 125

I live in New Zealand, and just recently found out that my house has bed bugs. I rang up one pest exterminator he recommended a full heat treatment for the house and said it would cost $6000-$7000NZD. then he said there was no grantee... I was like fuck that. Then I rang another exterminator who recommended fogging the house, then changed his mind and said that he will spray the certain areas instead, Still yet to get a quote. but I feel like im not going to get rid of these bedbugs

Those bugs are so immune to most things 2 sprays to start but it might take more sprays

Well yeah. It will work however they still spray. In fact most places warranty the work for any signs of them coming back

All of the companies local here, do not warranty their work. I don't know where you are from but every customer who has asked me to come in and help them with their bed bug situation has been out thousands of dollars with no help from my competitors. Without naming names, because I don't believe in bad mouthing my competitors, several different big named companies are this way.

Same here bro. Especially in apartment ( Wont work !! ) and they want $900 at least per apartment unit. ( My friend has the heating unit machine ) Friends or family will bring them back to your home. Good luck... I use Tenguard sfr, Transport, Demand cs or Bithor SC. Which chemical you use that gives you the best results?

Pedro Brandao I used it once and didn't get good results too expensive. went back to use in demand with the B&G P.A.S. portable air system $600 works great.

Jose Sevilla Demand is good too, but remember most of the time customers don't do what they suppose to, then it might take some time to be effectively. Preparation is the key of success

For obvious reasons I won’t disclose who I work for but I have been in the past control industry for over 10 years and I have been doing heat treatments it absolutely works 100% if done properly a lot of stuff that was mentioned in this video is untrue yes they can go into the wall voids but if you keep the temperature high enough for a long enough period of time they can’t escape it.

Not to mention it will crack baseboards, ruin wallpaper, cause paint to peel and even in extreme cases burn down homes. But hey gotta get those high sales commissions!

typical sales rep. Many people gonna fix the problem themselves with crossfire. no expensive treatments or strange people in your house making comments or hidden videos of your private stuff.
