In March of 2021, Taiwan was struck with a strange phenomenon: hundreds of people were changing their names to "Salmon." Why would they do that? For an ad campaign, of course. A Japanese conveyer belt sushi chain named Sushiro was offering free sushi to everyone named Salmon. The offer was only good for two days, but that was long enough for hundreds of Taiwanese people to sacrifice their entire identities to take advantage of the promotion. It became known as "Salmon Chaos," and it caused the record for longest name in Taiwan to be broken three times. Of course, everyone could always change their names back after getting their free sushi. Well, maybe not everyone...
