I had the Helix LT and I'm so happy after switching to the HX Stomp XL. The right size, all metal and just the right amount of stomps. Love it! 🥰

Great news as I've just bought a Pod Go Wireless to replace my very old Pod XT Live which I've been gigging and touring with since 2005!

I have 2 Powercab 112s both have different IRs and stack them. I have a Helix Floor and a Helix LT. Honestly I can't see the Pod Go as a thing for me and my use case. Love the videos.

Hey Steve...new to Line6 - just picked up a POD GO and ditched my huge pedal board. I'm new to your channel to. Love the videos and your "no nonsense" approach. I'm really enjoying the POD GO and LOVE LOVE LOVE the snapshot function. I basically engineer the snapshots to work with different parts of the songs we play in our cover band. Great video ....in definetely replacing my pod 500x (which haa served me great and still like) with the Pod go....thanks to you!!! Ive had it carrying weight...for me now the smaller the better...and the pod go's amps and effects are modeled better than the HDs...so this is the perfect solution for me...for.playing in small gigs,parties,touring and really anywhere. And it seems i can take it with me as a carry on in the airplane cabin, avoiding excess weight bills. Its an absolute winner. My regards from Chile,South america

Even the most basic modelers in today's generation are sufficient. Guitarists are restricted by their instrument expertise rather than tone options. Work on craft, rather than browse endless tone videos.

Hey!! That was great!! You are so right about everything You said. After wanting all that “Stuff” and professionally using it for your needs it came down that you didn’t really need so many options. Example, I have variax hardware in a fender. But I ended up just using my 3 guitars as they are. fender semi hollow body and acoustic. I don’t need 24 different guitars in one. I also dont need to switch from acoustic to electric in a song like I thought. It was all overkill. Next thing is this heavy 60 watt 212 Gibson amp I have. a nice 12” 15 watt tube amp is all I need.

Interesting, Steve. As a bar cover band guy myself for many, many years, I do like how I can shape tones with my Helix, but I know that NONE of the drunk happy dancing people in the bar notice one bit. (Which is why bar gigs are so great - it’s all about having fun playing music with your friends, and making sure the bar patrons have a good time). Keep up the great videos!

Dude, thanks for putting this out there. My wife and I play 80s (and some 70s) covers on acoustic locally and I've been considering the POD Go. I currently have the Fishman ToneDEQ and TC Electronics Ditto Looper. Those work great, but I'd love to simplify with an all-in-on, and would also like to play some electric here and there.

Supporting two musicians with one device is a cool feature of the Helix Floor if you already own one. But if not, buying 2 POD GOs is another option (and still much cheaper). Obviously there is still some functionality that you would not have available, but....

Loving my POD Go! having scoured almost every IRs out there, IMO the most versatile IR cab ( at least to my ears) is the FRIEDMAN bar none, either the OWNHAMMER version or the ML Sound will do, it just covers everything.

Our ancestors played single channel amps that had to cover all bases. If they wanted delay, they had to jury rig tape machines. The Line 6 is definitely a step forward :)

Hello sir. Great video. I am an “older” player having used the conventional amp/stompbox pedalboard setup for well over 30 years. I have been exploring the ampless/going direct/rig downsizing waters for several months now for several reasons, not just my aging body lol 😆 The POD Go appears to be something that would suit me perfectly but I was wondering if you could tell me this.........not being exceptionally tech savvy, would I be able to edit the sounds or patches on the unit itself, or must it be connected to a computer and perform that function through editing software? Thank you in advance for your input.

I'm thinking I will get a pod go. Can't afford a helix at the moment. And I don't need fancy routing etc. Been using nux mg300 for a while for recording and it honestly sounds amazing. Pod go has more switches etc and probably a lot more effects.

Good video. The other specialty use cases that want a Helix (if you're all in on Line 6) are Variax and/or PowerCab. Yeah, there's ways around it, but setup is way easier with the Helix if you've got the others.

Nice review ! A more robust power input (e.g IEC) rather than the little 9v plug would make me feel a LOT more comfortable using it as a beater board. Won't put me off getting one but still...

I picked up the Pod Go as a backup to my Helix LT. I'm a mostly covers jam band guy, everything I use is possible in the Go. You just covered the reasons that I sold my Helix :). Long live the Pod Go!! Now I just need to snag a second one as backup....

Personally I would choose the Helix over the Pod Go because the Helix has more versatility overall. If I was going to get another “Helix” I would get the HX Stomp if I wanted to get into the pedal world, or massively simplify my virtual rigs.

I call my POD Go Helix .50 I would use a Helix but I am to poor to afford one. That being said I have been LINE 6 since the POD X3 Live. Then on to POD HD. POD Go was a major improvement on tone over the HD. I am glad I made the switch.

Normally I'm used to play with a real amp but the modeling (amp, cabs, IRs) does not bother to me. I have on mind the Pod GO or the HX Effects. One other sad downside of the Pod GO is that it requires that extra power adaptor, which you didn't show us fitting into your gig bag, wheras the Helix takes a straight kettle lead...

Thanks for the video bro….. question. I have Mesa 100 watt tremoverb that I play out of and a huge pedal board. I’m trying to get away from the pedal board, buying pedals can be addictive so I thought the POD GO has all the pedals I need without buying pedal after pedal… anyways, When I hook the POD GO to my amp for the best sound am I going to go through the effects loop rather than just to the guitar input in the front? I’ve watched every video out there but this issue seems to be one that there is not a really good answer to. Thank for your videos, prob one of the best informational channels out. Matt

I've had my eye on hx stomp before pod go came out and while pod go seems like a solid processor, I would still rather pay a little more for an hx stomp.

When I went to pick up my POD GO at the gear store, the sales guy said - "I sold my Helix LT because it was too complex for me to operate, but the GO - wow it looks so simple I'm gonna buy one!" I agree - I like simple. It took me all of 5 minutes to unbox it and get great sounds out of it (no computer needed)

Good video sir. I am just now after playing for 40 years with Amps ready to go with a modeler. I am looking really hard at the POD go because I only gig out once or twice every other couple or 3 months, and I want something to record with as well just for fun. Can you adjust amps, or the power amp sag, etc right in the interface? Also stuff like eq and cutting frequencies and adding, etc using the interface or must you use the app? I hate using apps, and I was in the IT industry. I'm also looking at the headrush and the hx stomp. I don't use many effects.. wah, delay and reverb with just some pitch shifting for fun. Maybe a chorus to thicken up the tone when it's just me on the guitar. Anyway. Thanks man. Great video and it makes perfect sense how you use these tools. Love that double guitar gig bag too. What about either of those for an epiphone es335, or the like style guitar? My thing is; it’s digital! I can hear the digital! (I.e. the cleanliness) which is why I’m used to dragging smaller tube amps along, like a blues jr, or a blackstar ht20, to get that natural hollowbody sound, I don’t use a ton of effects, I’m thinking of adding a Duke of tone, but it’s usually a drive, and or distortion, depends on how saucy I’m feeling, a chorus, some reverb, and maybe a flange! I absolutley would love to sit and make something Devin townsend style echo, washed in delay and verb, but that’s for me! Otherwise a tuner, and that’s really it! I play mostly blues based rock, old school rock, and some alt. What could going to these line 6 pedals do for me? Aside from convenience, not having to drag an amp, pedals, cables, etc…, ask not what you can do for the pod or helix, but what the helix or pod can do for you!?!?

the problem I see is the POD Go's outputs, what if I want to send to front of house, then send to my amp on stage at the same time?

Have Helix Jr (LT)...will not go with pod go...why? I use Variax when I play out because I use alternate tunings on various songs that I need to switch to on the fly, as well as going from acoustic sounds to electric...if POD GO had Variax connector. still wouldn't switch simply because I have a Helix...why would I do that...it looks cool though, and I watched a video from someone who has both, and they said as far as sound quality, they could not detect the difference between how the Helix sounds vs the pod go....

Fun Fakt. Pod Go can not do two signal chains but a Splitter and two Pod Go are still way cheaper than one Helix. If you think the pod go doesnt have enough effekt blocks. You can still use pedals.

For me POD GO for the price has what it takes to play live or in a studio. HELIX no doubt has much more features and it's one of the Top-Notch pedals. But again, how of much these features are really used.

i will say this my experience not so great like yours my Helix with some kind of short mine was the rack i was able to fix it myself LUCKILY but i hated it it was the first when they came out and hadn't really gotten what it has now. i had an AXE FX 2 but its gone and not by choice!! i needed something cheaper to get by until i could get the FM3 so got brave and got a POD GO from Amazon HUGE MISTAKE!!! Arrived broken as well one knob broken as well as both VIEW and FUNCTION buttons and the knob between broken i was pissed. AMAZON did nothing that i was willing to accept and LINE 6 just as bad. so i still have a broken POD GO but i don't gig at all right now so not a huge issue i use the editor but to me compared to the Fractal recordings sound starved for DSP and i don't load it heavy in DSP at all it hurts my recordings and i hate that. I want the FM3 was going to get one recent events have shot out of possibility so i am having to abandon my project and it wasn't supposed to happen this way. Now i am not endorsed by Fractal Audio i just really like the gear and they are a great bunch of people to deal with so helpful there is no comparison between them and LINE 6 Half the time Line 6 don't even reply and they have yet to my last messages. I will never buy anything LINE 6 again. i would Fractal but its not possible right now i wish it was. Great video just wanted to share my experience and i summed it up bigtime but comment is no place to go into all of it again

I just got my Pod Go and I love it. I have a quick question though. When I eliminate the cab from my preset, I actually get what to me is a louder and nicer tone. This is playing it through an amp. I have yet to play it through an FRFM system. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I've been looking around for Line 6 stuff since I got myself a Variax standard and for me the Pod Go is so close and yet so far. It's almost perfect but the lack of Variax for me is basically a no go. Which is a shame since I have to go for the "lower end" Pod 500X/Firehawk FX or cash out more money for a Helix.

The last self contained modeler i had used prior to what i have now was the old kidney bean Pod 2.0 😄. It was. Pretty terrible. Actually that's a little harsh, it was good for what it was and WHEN it was, but it wasn't where i actually used it for more than here and there when i didn't want to power up the NASA mission control that was my rig at the time. Ive been repairing, building and servicing amps for about 7-8 years, repaired guitars before that, and i just stayed as far away from modeling as i could. Every new piece of gear that came out, or every article where some well known player claimed they were using modeling i was dubious of. The problem was that, as i said; the last thing i use was a Pod 2.0 i don't remember but i think the FX were just generic names for the Muff, fuzz face, tube screamer etc. Even though i wasn't using modeling, i also wasn't full on tube purist either. One of my favorite pieces of gear, and still is was the Ethos Overdrive Preamp. I had a 20W ODS clone with the skyline tone stack as well as a 50W ODS HRM 1X12 combo clone. I installed an HRM defeat on it, and would run them in stereo through a Freyett Power Station. Later i used the Ethos with one of them for stereo (while the 20W head was lighter than the 50W combo, it was by no means light). Flash forward to the first time i tried one of the Power cabs with a Strymon Iridium running into it, and i was blown away. I had no idea things had gotten to that level. Everyone ELSE did, but me. I think what sold me on the Iridium and convinced me to give modeling another chance (i mean it had been over a decade, of course they got better!) was the fact they put the FET input, which some of the Dumble clones used. Having that analog first gain stage definitely warmed it. To be sure i always used something into the Pod; usually an EP Booster or even just an EQ. I was all ready to go with the Helix, until i tried the Headrush and that just impressed me more. The whole layout was FAR more intuitive than the Helix. The whole scroll wheel and having to remember what patch was where just irritated me. Drag and drop was much easier. And while the I think the Line 6 has the advantage with the sound if their effects, i think the Headrush has superior amp modeling. I'm actually impressed with the cheap $300 NUX MG30. I don't really understand their algorithm that they use to give it an analog character but it certainly works. I never really thought about the Pod Go. Honestly, when i saw it i assumed it was going to be the same as the old Pod 2.0. i don't know why id assume they hadn't changed it since it came out, because that'd be stupid.

And how much Helix Is Better and powerful than Pod Go tones? I Need a bank with clean, crunch, dist and solo. What you suggest? Best regards
