Luisa Neubauer is a 23-year-old climate activist. In December 2018, she attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference, where she met fellow climate activist Greta Thunberg. After the conference, Luisa joined Greta in hosting school strikes to raise awareness of climate change - called “Fridays For Future" - focusing on her home country of Germany. Nowadays the movement is in more than 200 locations throughout Germany, fighting for an ambitious German climate policy.
In this talk, Luisa urges the audience to become the climate activists the world needs.

Luisa Neubauer ist eine 23-jährige Klimaaktivistin. Im Dezember 2018 rief sie zum ersten Klimastreik in Berlin auf und mobilisiert seitdem als eine der deutschen Hauptorganisatorinnen der Bewegung Fridays For Future in über 200 Orten deutschlandweite Klimaproteste. Sie setzt sich für eine Klimapolitik ein, die mit dem Übereinkommen von Paris vereinbar ist.
Luisa Neubauer, forderte die ZuhörerInnen mit einem ungemütlichen und bewegenden Talk nachdrücklich dazu auf, selbst zu Klimaaktivisten werden - besser gestern als morgen.

Ich fand diesen Ted Talk nicht so gut wie andere aber bin trotzdem glücklich, dass sie ihn gemacht hat. Man konnte sehen das sie nervös war also nehme ich es ihr nicht übel. Ich kann nur jeden ans Herz legen, die Welt ein Stück besser zu machen.

Luisa Neubauer is called "Langstrecken Luisa" meaning Long distance Luisa in Germany for flying to all continents for various occasions like celebrating her birthdays, getting her degrees and so on. Not exactly a environmentally compatible lifestyle. Since becoming politically active she's taken a lot of her Africa, California, New Zealand videos off FB. Who is she kidding? Preaching water, drinking wine. Sounds familiar?

I would say being vegan is not the issue but reducing the amount of animal products you consume. But being vegan not necessary means you are more environment friendly. A vegan who eats bananas from South America, kiwis from New Zealand and Berries from Canada, while living in Germany, isn't particularly environment friendly.

Beeing vegan is pretty good for sure. But if you do take only one fligt in a year for 5-10,000 km - you destroyed your oecological footprint for this year. So I'd say that travelling less is even more important.

Du verdienst erst dann Geld wenn du gewählt wurdest und als Politiker im Bundes-/Landtag oder Gemeinderat tätig bist. It might come from a place of worry but please notice the a significant part of the problem are actually generalisation as the one you mention. When you digg deeper you will notice that it is never as easy as it seems. Things are often interconnected and cause synergistic effects. We are definitely facing change in that regard but please try to make your point with relevant data points and without jumping to a conclusion to quickly.

Or, we can keep on doing what we’re doing and we’ll kill 90% of the worlds population through climate change. Either way the Earth has been here for several million years and will be here for several million more. Maybe these Einstein’s should think about the fact that the only reason they have a place to demonstrate is because our nations have developed this far through industrialization. Not to mention that they’re disruption is only damaging those nations that are already doing the most about climate change.

@@xDanoss318x this lady has no knowledge about how the German economy functions, no clue about physics ( which you should if you whine about coal energy while being fine with stepping out of nuclear). For the economical part, she never mentions that it is kind of weird that Germany sends ressources to China, let's the chinese finnish them and then ship them back. Some of those ressources are fully available in Europe/Germany. She never mentions that regulations make it less costly to use trucks for long distance transport instead of trains ( railroads have been built down to be fair). So the most important and Co2 heavy points are not mentioned by her. EVERY actual EXPERT would need to mention these elephants in the room. However she is not, instead she is going against all consumers, totally forgets of the growing poverty with the workingclass ( low profile workers in southern spain have lower cost of living and higher payment). So she is literally not going against those profits for the few but against everyone else. That is FACTUAL.

Visual Traffic You need to see the bigger picture. I mean, what do you expect her to do? Single handedly close all coal mines, convince everyone to go vegan, or stop all traffic in the world in an instant? No way, she is doing the right thing. Talking about what is going wrong and informing, so something changes in a democracy, where people may then vote for a party which cares about the climate and the future of coming generations.

It is well past time to demand a complete stop for using fossil fuels as energy and carbon emitting industrial exploitation of other carbon emitting pollution in massive ways. You need to hit these corporations with threats of confiscation immediately. We need to take these assets and put them to use in carbon retrieval systems, and the alternative energy systems that will support them. Some governments who would not allow common sense to prevail, need to be boycotted (exiled from the world economy), immediately.

Where I live, we have endless flowing rivers, endless trees, glacier fed lake which is my drinking water. Also surrounded by dairy farms and cattle farms and chicken farm. We are the lucky ones where I live. Just needs to be a bit warmer.

@@tinmanmv1351 A bit warmer will change also to dryer and change the vegetation of your climate zone, then you have of course a lot of vegetation needs cold frost and so on will not survive global warming, also not everything depends on these vegetation needs the cold - like it is in reality and biotopes. A bit warmer will also lead to more storms, landslides and melting permafrost or other ground types, warmer air will hold more water you will miss in the ground and rivers / lakes.

But we now have to pay more $$$ to change the weather?can’t change the weather like we can’t stop a virus. Warmer weather holds more moisture which in turn will make rain. Landslides have been happening for all of time, because the earth is moving constantly due to tectonic plates shifting underground. People in today’s world need to stop being afraid of everything. We can’t stop the weather from changing. We can’t stop the virus neither. We need to accept the things we cannot change. Have the courage to change the things we can and the wisdom to know the difference. Thanks, I appreciate you.

The strange thing is that there are people who profit from wind power, solar power etc. While I am leaning towards renewables I know that they aren't always "on" except hydro power and maybe those sparsely avaible wave power systems. To deliver one kW permanent power is maybe 5 times higher with wind compared to coal - the fossil fuel industries make their profits but the renwables make it too. In Germany many wind turbines 120m high with 90m-diameter rotors are placed in the last large forests and somewhere in that forest you find a "natural" area of maybe 100 x 100 metres. Just that is unnecessary devastation of "nature". While I as physicist see climate change a real challenge I would like to see more realism in the fridays for future movement - at the moment I see them as bots entered by something I cannot see behind them ...
