I have the Chisel comp 22. I am upgrading from a Mérida Team Issue, at the beginning I didn't quite like it, was a bit though for me to perform the Chisel, but now I definitely enjoy the ride and have notoriously improve from the Mérida. Chisel it's a. awesome bike

Nice colour. Looks good red/white and gum walls. I got last year's model dark grey with Shimano. Got some of the new gum wall fastrak's to go on

That's awesome! I love the tan-wall tires on straight one color bikes. What fork did last years model come with? A Judy or Reba? I hate when they switched from the Reba

@@OhioMTBTrails it's got a Judy. Trying to decide if I should upgrade fork and wheels. I've put a PNW coast dropper on recently, it takes a bit of the sting out of the hard tail. Great bike!

@@alex_n8863 if it was my main bike I would definitely upgrade the fork but you can always find some cheaper carbon wheels online too!

@@OhioMTBTrails I keep my eyes peeled for a good deal. I'd like to get a full sus at some point for days out in the bigger hills. I'll definitely keep the Chisel though, it's perfect for my local trails!

Would you consider the Chisel to have similar geometry to a UCI XCO bike like the Epic or Canyon Esteem CF? I know it is heavier but not too much. Prefer to buy from a local Specialized dealer to give my LBS the business.

I would say so. The head tube angle seems like it is maybe a little steeper than a full suspension Epic

Thanks for the video, but I don’t know that you answered the question why you bought a Chisel. There’s a bunch of questions here that are worthwhile: how is the “progressive XC” geometry? Does that Geo plus hard tail make sense on your “normal eastern trails?”

A follow up video is coming out soon! It was my first ride so I wanted to get some time on the bike before reviewing it. So far, it's great for the terrain we have here but I would love to add a dropper posts to compensate for the lack of rear suspension.

@@OhioMTBTrails awesome! The dropper post question was another I should have added. Also: why might you prefer this to your Epic? Was that much bike not as much fun? I’ll need to check out the rest of your channel; I admit I’m not familiar with how you’re using the bikes. Fun trail rides, but not on the North Shore? XC racing? Thanks for the reply.

@@CoachDAReid I am definitely more of a XC style rider. I love my Epic but with the trails being less ideal as far as dirt goes, I wanted a less expensive bike to get muddy and always be washing.

I had Level T’s on my Santa Cruz Chameleon & yea they got replaced by Shimano’s

Did you have an issue with them overheating in the summer?

@@OhioMTBTrails I only had one ride on em before I decided they had to go. They just felt like you had to really clamp down on em to get em to bite & that was at alum creek. With really needing to clamp down I’m sure they would heat up & cause fade. I put Deore’s on my Chameleon & what a differance. I even swapped my Code R’s on my Stump Jumper EVO for Shimano XT’s

@@cadman9615 These ones are definitely better than the last pair that I had on my old Chisel. They do grab a lot better but if they have heat issues again then I'm throwing them away lol

I would leave my bike in the sun for a few minutes and it would heat and expand the fluid in the lever units

I have a chisel but I removed the suspension and put a carbon fiber rigid one, I like rigid MTB bikes.

hello Here I bought my chisel comp you who wanted news of my new purchase Honestly he is very playful the geometry I like I just need to change the wheels and shock absorbers I am very satisfied with my chisel I prefer my specialized than my carbon cube 👍👍👍🚵♀️💪
