Looking at the chisel. Would it be better to build frame up or go stock?

I always go stock then upgrade it. Better to build from a frame if you're picky. Cheaper to buy complete bike

I've been meaning to give these trails a try. They look like they're worth the hour drive. If you haven't already a trip down to the Baileys in Athens, Ohio is a great way to spend a day or two in the woods.

Would you consider the Chisel to have similar geometry to a UCI XCO bike like the Epic or Canyon Esteem CF? I know it is heavier but not too much. Prefer to buy from a local Specialized dealer to give my LBS the business.
@OhioMTBTrails

I would say so. The head tube angle seems like it is maybe a little steeper than a full suspension Epic

Rode it today. This is arguably the best designed trail I've ever ridden! What Walt did with that small space is phenomenal, and yet accessible. It was a very technical ride through the woods. The ups and down are punchier than the camera will show, but yet not too hard because it goes up and down so much. Very few sustained up hills to deal with. You get your exercise while having fun instead on the way to the fun. A real gem!

how weird have things gotten in this world? Why would anyone want to know about someone they don't know selling a bike? Who cares? a $2400 bike so he doesn't wear out a more expensive bike? Stop and think about it....this isn't about bikes, it's about you, you say "Me, I" endlessly. No offense but nobody cares about what tube you put in a bike you "might sell' ....go find a mirror and stare at yourself, that makes more sense for you.

So why bother watching the video? It's not called "Why you should sell you're bike." The title isn't misleading, it clearly states that it's about my experiences with this bike.

Got a 2021 Specy Chisel Comp recently, that the prior owner had put on a good bit of extras and changes and then never rode. Oval cSixx 34T crank, bottleholders, nice spd pedals, good Shimano SLX crankset and high end brakes, nice lights and toolkit. Its an alround joy to ride in any conditions.

@@OhioMTBTrails Thanks! I'll definitely ride there and go to mohican! One last question. For a new gravel rider, should i purchase an expensive bike or stick to a cheaper one? GT has a sale on their grade gravel bikes and I'm interested in buying their carbon pro LE or the carbon pro (both pricey but are almost 50% off). OR I can go to a LBS and get something like a topstone 3, revolt 2 or salsa journeyer. MY LBS is also a GT dealer so they said they can special order and match the price (no exchange or returns tho).

Reid is a great value. I'm primarily a road biker and have a MTB for the occasional outing so I didn't want to spend a ton of money. The Tract 4 is a great value for a MTN bike. If I lived farther north a fat bike might be a consideration.. but we don't get enough snow to justify it
