"Pinball can not fix your problems, but it can take your mind off of them...." Nailed it. I love that! Well done, buddy!

I think pinball will give you more problems than it will fix. Like an empty wallet, but we all seem to agree that it's worth it. 😆

I feel exactly the same. Video games amp me up, but when I get a cold beer and plunge the silver ball its pure enjoyment. And IT IS THERAPEUTIC 😊

Cary , you nailed it . I have a very stressful job . Life is stressful for all of us . And pinball gives me an escape . Fixing them , modifying them and playing them . Can’t tell you how many times I pull up to a stop light and 90% of the people are looking at their phones . Light turns green and one by one , people start to realize it’s time to actually drive again . One of my pet peeves is the at dinner ignore my family cell phone thing . Wife and I purposely don’t use our phones at that time . I think partly because when I was a kid growing up we didn’t have that stuff and my family actually had a conversation. Better times 😊Thanks for a great reminder of why I love Pinball !

Pinball saves my life everyday whenever i needed to take my mind off whatever was going on in my life through the heartbreaks and losses pinball was always there. and even just that couple hours of time spent in that world under glass was enough to keep me grounded and gave me a reason to smile🧡

Hi Cary, I totally agree!!, that is why when I made my Rotisserie, I decided to do it in the Old School way 💪🤩, to feel the materials directly, to paint all the art by hand, to machine it artesanally, it was pure enjoyment 😀😍 Thanks for sharing it, greetings from Buenos Aires. :Dany

I *_was_* gonna say this was better than Jerry Maguire’s “mission statement,” until I got towards the end. I don’t say it lightly, C.H.: this is the finest thing you’ve posted (& likely _will_ post). Nope, just choppin an onion o’er here. 👀🥴 Great writing (& big bonus point on the Bateman 😮‍💨). 🤟✌️ 👏👏

Pinball is mechanical action that you simply cannot get with anything else. It’s a unique interactive game.

Nicely done. Being in that zone can be part of that experience you described. The interaction with physical bits and pieces in a world under glass can be just what the doctor ordered. Doesn't hurt to be shooting good either! lol.

“Touching cowboy, touching” 😜 All true stuff. I’m with you. I’m currently going through a change in my lineup to more of the classic 90’s pins. I don’t really care for insider connected crap and honestly a DMD screen is just fine. Pinball is under the glass anyway. Just picked up a Williams Dracula pin and I love it! Been wanting one for years. Keep the great content coming Cary 👍👍

This has always been my answer to people as well. This made me think of music too. Back in the day we physically collected music & was fun to view the artwork & inserts. Now I have all the music in the world at my fingertips which is amazing but I do miss the physical aspect. I could start collecting vinyl but I won't. Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Things change. Pinball for me definitely has an "art collecting" aspect to it. They look pretty damn cool, great to show off & sometimes I just walk by my collection & don't even play but I'll just look. I don't get that digitally. However, there is some irony here when you talk about the digital world. I've always been fascinated with pinball but digital is what made this my hobby. Back in 2003 I was like 24 & just getting clean from years of drug & alcohol abuse. I was quite isolated for a while. I got into computers a bit. Through that I found a few pinball sims that really captured my imagination. I'm talking the Pro Pinball games which to this day are just absolutely ICONIC, Microsoft Pinball Arcade, & some other cool sets of tables. It was actually quite impressive what was out there. At this time Visual Pinball was also taking shape. I was BLOWN AWAY that I could play user created recreations of real tables as well as some great original ideas people had. What a cool hobby that was & still is. I got into wanting to make & mod my own tables. I was too poor to own any real tables yet but needless to say that is what started me off on my journey to being a real pinball collector. Nothing beats real tables but I still think any true pinball fans are missing out by not checking out what is out there is you can get a decent PC setup. For me, odd that with so many things going digital that pinball worked the opposite. Digital led to real for me. Also a shout out to what for me is a meditation tinkering & working on machines. Nothing better than polishing a game or some ramps & watching it become like new again.

I love video games for sure but i love the feel of a pinball table and the feedback you get and its always something different every time you play a game. Im trying to get my son and wife into it but its a rough time lol.

We might be at a turning point or coming close to one when it comes to digital entertainment. I'm 35 and am on a screen constantly (Work, tv, etc.) and can't stand it, it's actually made me nauseous at times just thinking about it. Being a physical, non-digital device is partially what drew me to pinball. It's also an incredibly social activity and hobby. I run monthly tournaments now and everyone has been looking forward to them because they get a night to hang out with friends. I've also noticed how younger folks, my age and under, are also getting more and more involved. Pinball has been a tremendous hobby to get involved in, 100%

I agree, I own 3 myself and was hooked in the early sixties with an EM. I personally enjoy getting a pin that needs work. I'm retired and what a better way of using my time to relax and rebuild a pinball machine to something fantastic to enjoy and take pride in owning. Frustrating as well but learning more and more everytime I run into my next hurdle ! Yes I do have some knowledge in reading scheme mastics and electronics, but I'm not an electronics expert by no means and need help from time to time. Keep on trucking!

I had been thinking about this for a while. It really meshes the digital and physical world together. By the way, your retention rates have to be extremely high. You are one of the best at engagement! I do wish to be as good as you one day!

Wow, that was deep, but so it is with the special things of our life. I'm 56 years old, and I can remember going to an arcade before there were any video games. Life was so much simpler back then. I did play a lot of video games in my day, but pinball always remained special for me because of a lot of the same reasons it's special to you, I think. Thanks for sharing a more personal side of yourself.

Pinball at home is therapy where you get to yell at the therapist, and they simply do not care. They don't even listen. I literally have an anger management book inside my Mando. No, I'm not kidding.

Why I enjoy/play pinball. Each play of a table is different. I seen pro players fall on the first ball. I've personally had many 1 ball wonder/high score games. This is what makes it interesting.

Oh and believe it or not I forgot to mention in my 3000 word dissertation that pinball is best enjoyed with friends. Pinball is a very social activity IMHO. My son and I have such great times playing with our pinball buddies or just here at the house. Our doors are always open to anyone that wants to come over and bang out some games on our collection. Maybe one day someone will actually take us up on it.

Phones :( Should have seen this coming 40+ years ago when we started seeing them installed in otherwise fun sports cars. You gonna drive that Ferrari, or talk on your car phone? I wonder how many people open their phone to scan the IC QR code, see a notification, and get distracted for an hour instead of playing pinball.

the more I love pinball... The more I'm intolerant of poorly maintained or unbalanced tables... Time has come where I'm going to start building my home collection so that I can maintain and play my own games.

I agree and mostly agree. Poorly maintained we both agree 100%. Unbalanced or unleveled tables I mostly agree. IMHO even an unleveled table can be one of the charms of pinball. Or at least with the right attitude can be perceived as a charm.
