Why I Chose The Yamaha R6

This video is just about why I chose the Yamaha 07 R6 as my 600cc sport bike. Really most people just buy their dream bike. or the bike that they think looks the best. And although some street bikes have advantages over others, you should just stick to the bike you want the most! Love your bike for what it is and don't let others bash on your sweet ride! :)
I started on a ninja 250 and got a lot of hate for it but i don't regret the decision at all. Not only was I not in a financial position to buy an R6 but also I was able to drop the 250 and get us to riding without rid ink damaging the R6. And she has never been down! :D So wether you are buy a 250, 600, 1000, dual sport, or cruiser, just remember that we all share the same passion to ride!

Thank you for the great videos! I started riding in the 80's. I've owned a number of bikes and I like all styles, sport bikes, cafe races, bobbers, choppers, dirt bikes, etc. I've owned all types-- Kawasaki GPZ 550, Yamaha R6, a few Ducatis when I got older, on and on) Then I got married, had kids, got rid of the bikes (for now) but of course I miss riding, and I miss the bikes. But the bike I miss the most is my blue 2001 Yamaha R6. As much as I loved the Ducatis, the R6 was a perfect fit for me. It's plenty of power, I would say it's way too much power for a new rider looking for a first bike. You must feel comfortable with something "violent" between your legs and all the things going on with your hands, feet, body, etc. And you want to feel "one with the machine" like you are the bike and the bike is you-- that's how the R6 felt to me. And you are right, it looks the best! A matter of personal preference, all the 600's look good these days, but the R6 has always stood out as the hottest looker in my mind. Thanks again, and keep it up! (Shiny side up, that is).

I've owned a 2009 Cbr 600Rr abs. I currently have a 2015 Yamaha R6 raven. The difference between the two is pretty drastic! The R6, is definitely the more "track ready" one. The CBR is wayyyy more comfortable, and "forgiving". You honestly can't go wrong with either one. That being said, I'll take my current R6, over my CBR every day. The styling is wayyy more "aggressive". The Raven edition just looks nasty, black and mirror red accents. The R6 honestly sounds better as well(stock vs stock). I have also dropped more money into my R6, because it was a bike I feel in love with, after my first ride on it....

@@SystemAdministrator1 ahah it's funny to see that comment almost 2 years later. I did buy an R6 and didn't regret my choice at all. The sitting position is much more aggressive, the engine has more top-end which makes it very fast in canyons and twisties because you don't have to shift. It's better than the CBR on everything for me. The story doesn't end up here. Because I moved to the US, I had to sell the R6 too. Now I'm riding a 2012 Daytona 675R and I think this is the best sportbike you can have on the streets. Amazing torque and mid-range power. Much much better handling, stiffness and feedback than any other bike I've tried. If you know how to ride it, that's a war weapon. The position is even more demanding than on the R6 but I love it. PS: I've seen guys on nija 400s smoking new R1M and S1000RR at the track in A group, just buy the bike you like, they all are very good if you ride them well! Best, Ride safe guys ✌

Ive ridden both an R6 and a Gsxr... the R6 has amazing power after 8000 rpm, you get a feeling of pulling and you have to hold on tight. so for racing this is good. the Gsxr has a more consistent power range through out and is 10x more comfortable. If your learning or have not ridden for awhile I wouldn't get an R6. But they do look beautiful!

The R6 is a fantastic bike! Never gotten to ride one, unfortunately, but I really love the look of the current R6. I ended up going for the 2013 ZX-6R simply because of the 636cc engine, available traction control, and the styling. But to me all the supersports are great looking bikes. By the way, I agree 100% with everything you said in this video and have argued as such on many forums. People talk about ultimate performance yada, yada, yada, but at the end of the day all of these bikes far outperform the talent levels of 99% of riders out there and any of them will be more than fast enough for the average rider. So at the end of the day, go with what you love and don't worry about anything else. They're all great...

love it... To answer a lot of people's questions... the damper decreases your chances of getting "wobble" or "tank slap" also allows you to take turns faster too.... increases the feeling of the road for your bike and gives you better control. Anytime you you pull the front wheel off the ground the likelihood of the wheel shaking when it touches the ground is very high. the damper helps eliminate that from happening...

@Gigadad7
@Gigadad7 9 жыл бұрын
19k miles is exactly how many i bought my bike with! You should change the oil and oil filter roughly every 3k miles with full synthetic oil. I use Spectro Platinum 4! I didn't do my valve adjustment until 30k miles and the valves were extremely out of adjustment, although i wouldn't have waited any longer. When you do the valve adjustment do all the maintenance such as new, air filter, spark plugs, coolant, clean and synchronize the throttle bodies, grease headset bearings. and so on. It will run so much better. Also use premium gas and keep all maintenance records! let me know if you need any help with anything :)

Good video and you hit all the points. I got an R6 for the exact same reasons. I know it is not the most comfortable but I do not buy a super to feel like a 250 all sat up straight. I want the aggressive position and I will pay for it. Plus after a while you get accustom to the pain. I am the perfect height for the bike so its not too bad. If you are very short you will suffer. One thing I dont like it the heat, but they all like that. And yes you have to get hi revs b4 you get performance (I can live with that). It is so beautiful everything else becomes minor. R6 until someone makes a better looker (that I can afford cuz Ducati are wonderful looking also)

I have been riding dirtbikes my entire life though, have a Yamaha YZ 250 right now. So Im sure ill be able to handle the speed of a 600. My dirtbike is fast as hell and has tons of torque. "A Gixxer's riding position is like a Ninja 250"?! HA! Not even close! I have a 06 GSX-R 600 and I've ridden (roughly 300 miles) a Ninja 250R. Gixxers are much more aggressive and feel like a true Supersport, whereas the 250R has more of a Sport Touring feel. However, I wholeheartedly agree that you should go for your dream bike! Don't settle!!! Nice vid man.

Oh no dude a gsxr is totally a supersport!! i wasn't trying to say it wasn't, i was just trying to state that the fact is its slightly less aggressive than a R6. I know this because I've ridden one. Except it was like a 2012, so i don't know about the 06. I noticed that it sits a little lower with the handlebars higher and the foot pegs further forward. But YES go for your dream bike!!!! because really they are all similar and 600cc :)

Had a 1987 600 Ninj. Bike was great. But then slipped into an FZR600 Yami. And that is where I fell in love. And just like the man says. Ride a bike first before you decide. A Yamaha may be my choice. But yours may be so different. Looking into a 2007 R6. Drove the R! and a CBR900. And can still keep up with the horseies. lol. Find what is comfortable first thing. @Gigadad7
@Gigadad7 10 жыл бұрын
well its not super difficult if you know bikes. I've seen people freak out and be very jittery (not smooth) and they make mistakes. a 600cc race bike is not a bike for beginner mistakes. so you need to know what your doing. I started on a 250 an i don't regret it at all cuz i got all my bugs out o that bike and i dropped it and stuff. Now i ride the R6 and have never come close to dropping it! The drz is a sweet bike too though. Id recommend taking the msf course and seeing how good you are starting with bikes. If you can handle yourself, then save some money and get an 06-07 R6 also go and try riding other peoples bikes! Good Luck!! :)

Some reason I can't reply to that comment, but dude I so agree, all 600s are so nice. I really really love the look of the 2014 fireblade sp edition. What's your thoughts on the new r1?
@Gigadad7
@Gigadad7 9 жыл бұрын
Exactly! and dude i don't know about the r1 yet :/ It looks pretty sweet but i just gotta see it in person!! i have my doubts like the stupid bulb headlights 😂 but the electronics package is super dope!

Man, yeah. Them headlights are just.... Strange. Don't get me wrong, everything from the mid to the rear of the bike looks good, but the front fairing is just alien to me. Haha, yeah the electronic package is no doubt there. Soon ittl start riding itself :P I'm not a big fan on all the electronics. But I would love to try it before I knock it

What made you decide against a supermoto in the end? You were leaning towards one I heard in your other videos. I'm in the same situation at the moment. Had a ZX6R 636B and sold it because it started to wear down and I got a great price. Now I'm looking around again and can't decide between so many motorcycles. Husky 610, KTM 690, Speed Triple, GSX-R 750, R1..totally different concepts and yet every category has its (dis-)advantages. What really annoys me about supermotos is their purchase price. Good, used Husky = 4-5k€. KTM 690 = 6k€+ Speed Triple around 5-6k€, The GSX-R 750 or the R1 (Rn 12, 19) cost around 4,5-6k€ BUT I got the feeling that I'm getting so much more motorcycle for the price compared to a supermoto! Even when I put the cost aside, I still can't decide. Supermotos are fun around city and country roads and you can have fun while not going triple the speed limit...I don't fucking know :D
@Gigadad7
@Gigadad7 9 жыл бұрын
HAHAHAHA!!! i feel your pain bro! And yeah i was thinking about the supermoto but like you i couldn't find a really good one without spending a lot of $$$. Also I have ridden my step dads drz 400 and its nice but supermotos are best for city riding as your stated. If your doing any freeway the dirt bike sucks. Not to mention that is seems that your don't get as many miles out of the supermoto. My bro has 60k miles on his R1 and it runs like new. But I've heard of supermoto rebuilds at 10k so I'm not sure. personally i find to supermotos fun to tool around on but shit gets real on a sport bike! :)

+ryan gregor No, But a Yamaha R300 or R125 will be good for you. It looks almost the same as the bigger brothers.. and the R125 has great fairings I think.

I own an '05 R6 and cannot tell how many miles remaining when fuel low light goes on. Only one light for fuel and I don't have a reserve. I doesn't mention how many remaining miles in manual. Do you know the amount if the light goes on?

Ok I need help so I hope I get some, I'm looking to get a bike soon like within the next week or two and was dead set on the 2015cbr600rr but came across the new 2015 Yamaha r6 and don't know which one I should get I understand the r6 has more top end power and the Cbr has more low range and mid power so I'm lost on what to get, also I'm 6'0 and 210lbs if that matters hope get some advice ....
@121coo
@121coo 9 жыл бұрын
Based on the many reviews I've seen, if your looking for comfort, cbr is the way to go. Has mid range power and comfort. Is basically made for the streets. If you want power, the r6 is the way to go BUT you have to be willing to sacrifice comfort. R6 is more made for the track.
