I get asked a fair bit about why I left America to return to India, when I had the chance to settle down there. Here's my answer.

@@peterfernandes8472 Then it is even more important to return to or remain in India rather than escaping. Imagine what would have happened if founding fathers of modern India like Gandhi, Ambedkar never returned to their country after completing their studies abroad and settled there dreaming of a "secure" life. It is the duty of the educated Indians to stay in and build this nation first, whoever moves out with the mentality of escaping are no less than the selfish politicians. Besides that, no political party or neta is permanent, parties come and go likewise netas retire and die too. India will not remain the same forever. And moreover the so called "developed" countries are not problem free at all. Infact new social tensions and issues are emerging in the West due to rising number of outsiders from non European countries, you already know whats happening right at this moment in france, switzerland etc,

India main jo sukoon or apni mitti ki khushbu hai wo sari duniya main kahin nahi. Of course you can have a luxury life but not the Indian feeling. Stumbled accidentally on this video; knew KK/Tom Alter; did not know Jamie. Every NRI should watch this video to understand how a person should listen to his/her heart. Loved it.

Born and brought up in UAE, after living a splendid life in the country which I used to call my home country, 35 good years and decided to come back to my real home country INDIA. Was hard in the beginning, as time went by now after 2 years…it’s comfortable living here as well.

@@deeptiyadav8253 Sawal isliye kyuki bohot se Indians ko lagta hai America ki life bohot hi jyada achhi hai aur all BS. To agar koi America me settle hone ke bajay wapas aa jaye to kuch log surprise hote hai. In reality har mulk ke apne positives aur negatives hai. Ye baat wo samajhte nahi, unko lagta hai ki US aur Europe to swarg hai, jahan free ke paison ki barsat hoti hai, aur sabhi ek to Manhattan ya Beverley hills me, ya Eiffel tower ke samne ya Birmingham palace se baju me hi rehte honge.

Very nicely explained, Jamie! I remember meeting your Dad & Mr.Naseeruddin Shah at Prithvi theater in Bombay in 1979 when I went to watch an English play called “Zoo Story” in which only the 2 of them acted and there are no other characters in that play! Very gripping psycho story with lengthy dialogues in it and they both acted so incredibly well! Both were so humble & simple that they were standing by the ticket desk meeting, greeting & thanking every person who bought a ticket to watch the show! I can see that same sort of simplicity & humbleness in your videos now! Interesting, you mentioned you were in Boston. I was born & raised in Madras but have been living in Boston for 30+ years now! I am glad you’re living your dream in India very successfully! Wish you the very best! God bless.
