Link to the I was scammed video : • How He Failed Farming ...
****************************************************************************************************
After many years in the diaspora and starting to think of retirement back home ,we ,(my wife and I) started to brainstorm different ideas.
We settled on free range organic chicken farming! 🥚🐣🐓😍. We will also grow organic vegetables.
We have lived in the United Kingdom for just over 20 years with our five children who were all home educated.
While living in the U.K we became very aware of food standards because food was not the same as what we had left behind.
Very early on we started buying organic food and wild fish. We would like to continue on this path of healthy eating and growing our own food.
The chickens will be pasture raised. We are implementing a permaculture farming method.
We will also be using the regenerative agriculture approach to help the soils get all the necessary nutrients.
We bought the land which had lots of gum trees which took a lot of nutrients out of the soil. We need to add these back using the regenerative agriculture approach.
We will use this platform to share information we learn along the way.
There was a pond on the farm which has dried out but we need to revive it as part of permaculture farming.
What is regenerative agriculture?
Soil health and the regeneration of topsoil (the surface layer of soil) are the main priorities of regenerative agriculture. Going well beyond organic farming, regenerative agriculture is a system of agricultural practices and principles that increases ecosystem health, improving nutrients in foods, which almost become a by-product of the planet’s restoration. Soil Heroes
What is permaculture?
It involves taking care of the earth and working with it. We will be using systems like rain capture and solar systems. Trying to be off grid as much as possible.

I also decided to call it quits in 2019, took early retirement after working for 32 years in the UK, for more or less the same reasons. Parked my 40 foot container and relocated to Zimbabwe. I make my passive income from broiler chickens, house construction business, and any other business opportunities I come across. All I can say is I found my peace of mind. For those who want to follow us make sure you buy or build your retirement home. Life is too short. Come home.

Thank you for this, many young people will only realize too late that retirement is planned in your 20s, 30s and not at 60. Avoiding making bad financial decisions early is what we should be aware of. We are only useful in the diaspora when we are still economically active, once you reach a certain age you won't get as many opportunities, options will become less, not so many friends/relatives around.

Try telling some Zimbaz that a car is a liability 😅😅😅😅😅 They will have you for breakfast. Yet thats the single truth. Buying a lifestyle with pay check to pay check money is the dumbest move most of us financially uneducated African fall for. Most argue that getting debt is good, yes it is good but not BAD DEBT. BAd debt is pretentious feel rich lifestyle that one cant afford. Thank you for shouting out loud on this SALARY IS A SEED Q. Retirement? A. Zimbabwe

Very enlightening information. Thank you so much for this eye opening video. Most of the people always thought that going abroad would improve their financial statuses. Its a lot of hard work and no social time. You even work harder than the locals in that country trying to seek attention for a raise or a promotion. Zimbabweans in general aint hard working people but the situation has made them to be. The moment you leave your country insearch of greener pastures you automatically become a hard worker. South Africans in the UK are considered hard workers. Malawians in the diaspora the same. I would retire in Zimbabwe or in the neighboring countries but not ouside africa. Thank you very much for the content. Much respect for Ruwa people.

Brilliant video my brother, what i think is that if one is still young enough and can afford a mordgage, please go for it because that is more like an investment instead of paying rent. When you finally decide to go back home, you sell the house and get back your money, but when you are renting all your rental money is none refundable. Otherwise, i truly subscribe to your contend. Ngiyabonga. As far as cars are concerned depending on which you're in, but in some countries it is necessary to own one, however a simple tiny car will work wonders for you, you save on buying it, maintenance, fuel and insurance

Thank you for sharing. I'm living in Zimbabwe and I follow a lot about how our friends and relatives are surviving abroad. It has made me appreciate that they work hard for their money. It is also surprising that £2500 is not enough in UK yet a civil servant in Zimbabwe is surving on approximately £200 per month. The difference is huge. Going forward people in the diaspora can invest back in Africa. Instead of maybe buying expensive cars on mortgage rather buy faming and Mining equipment and invest back home.

I enjoyed your first video with Wode Maya, you showed true character in pursuing what you believed and went for it with all your might. I then watched the 2nd video that you outlined how your ventures failed siting a number of factors that contributed to that outcome. I applaud you for the follow up as your following deserved an update which you rightly so did. However, on this instalment, I’ve found a lot of inconsistencies, some untruths and not so factual information but rather opinions which in my own opinion where based on not so researched outburst. Let us break this down. 1. On your sparkling Jaguar, isn’t it the practice that the cars guaranteed for at least the first 3 years or certain number of miles. I wonder why you would have incured expenses on repairs when it should have been Jaguar’s problem. Tsanangurai muhe apa why maita pay for repairs on a new car that should have been within its guarantee period? 2. Accessing credit is not as bad you may have portrayed in the video. Responsible borrowing is a good thing as long as this is within your means to make the agreed repayments. This is the same obtaining car on finance. Financing a family car that will serve to drop and pick children from school and commuting to work is an absolute necessity considering the weather. Surviving without a car esp. in the UK will make one’s life very difficult over and above the existing stresses. 3. Not obtaining a mortgage when you live and work in the UK is an absolute NO brainer. Money paid for rentals is money down the drain, you pay it and it is GONE never to be seen again. Whereas paying towards a mortgage has all the advantages, it is your home you live in and every month you make a payment you are reducing the debt. Also, the property gains value and you’ve equity, something you can plough back down the road. Giving your example that you’ve lived in the UK for almost 25 years renting - we can safely say you have paid someone else’s mortgage - how is that clever/smart or wise? The notion you’re pushing that having a mortgage will tie one down in the UK or wherever is not entirely true. Having a mortgage does not mean one is not allowed to sell when their plans change. In your cases if you had obtained a mortgage and paid it for say 10 years (including that whole period when interest rates were VERY low) and house prices continue to rise. You could have easily away with 100s of thousands of pounds in equity giving you a good cushion to start a new life in your chosen retirement destination. Makatoruza ipapo, makatambisa nguva nemukana. There are many other things you’ve chosen to not mention that will definitely be a big consideration when one is getting old is poor health. The need to have access to medical facilities is vital. If you retire in Zim, you need to be able to fund your medical requirements. It is nice to have your rent or mortgage free house, but there is more to life than just owning a house and small piece of land to grow veggies and rear chickens. There are a lot of things you said with confidence that I do not have time to expound on. I just hope you’ll carefully evaluate your plans and actions to keep away from pitfalls that could be avoided. I also hope the lessons and mistakes you’ve made in your journey from 2001, some which you highlighted and acknowledged will help you in the next phase of your life to be more careful, plan better, take time and seek expert advice. Otherwise, we are all headed to Zim after our mission in the Diaspora is over, but we have to be well planned otherwise we will spent the last years of our lives miserable and brutally honest early grave.

Thank you for taking time to respond, I just wish people would articulate their points like you did. I makes great conversations. Here are my responses: 1. Regarding the Jaguar, I bought it on finance when it was already 5 years old so I was only given 6 months warantee. The issues I had were outside the 6 months. 2. Regarding accessing credit, if you watch my follow video to this I specifically mention that "good credit" is great when used for specific things that enhance productivity for example but most people use it to look cool. Ofcourse everyone has choices when it comes to financing a car. My point here is when you finance a car, if you add up the total of installments after 3 years or 5 years, you are paying more for something that is depreciating anyway. I would and have bought a second hand reliable car, that reduced my out goings compared to when I was paying for my car on finance. Every month I could put aside 2 - £300 on investments. 3. Regarding the mortgage, a house that's on the market for £100k will be about £200k after 30 years, remember you would have put down £10k deposit. My point here is if you put that 10k into a business, that business can give you returns that you can enjoy right away. The house is just a huge liability for 30 years. In my case, I put £20k into my business and was able to buy a house for $50k USD and a farm for $140k USD. My projects on the farm can give enough money to purchase a house at the market price cash in a few years. 4. REgarding healthcare in Zimbabwe, there is no option but to go private, there is CIMAS etc that can take care of that. $100 towards healthcare is nothing considering that you have projects that give you cash everyday, and cost of living in Zim is almost $0 (No rent, $20 per month electricity, $0 electricity if you have solar, grow your own vegetables organically etc). It's very easy to setup a business in Zim, and other is less competition. Everything that I am sharing is well researched, this move to prepare to retire in Zimbabwe was 10 years in the making. I am still learning a lot while trying to settle here.

Getting a credit card to support your lifestyle is the most ridiculous thing i have heard. Yesterday i was talking to a friend who works in IT. He is working at a startup that loans out money to people for 30% interest.😮 I laughed when he told me this and asked him who is stupid enough to borrow that money. He explained to me that there are many and that the companies loan book is now 20 million dollars. He also explained the reasons for those loans. Apparently the majority take these loans for consumption, ie buying a car or travelling. Come one people! The only good loan is a mortgage and a grant for studying. One thing i learnt from my swedish partner that we africans don’t learn as children is only buy what you can afford, meaning save the money, then buy. Our problem as africans, even though we think we are so educated is financial illeteracy.
@ruwaorganic
@ruwaorganic 5 күн бұрын
There are many people who take out these loans because they live for others. They like to show off with wha they can't afford., however it isn't an African problem. The rate of borrowing and living above and beyond their means is higher in he West.

Mortgage for your primary residence is a terrible loan. So is a loan for education, depending on what and where you're learning. The only way credit can be good it using it to buy something that generates income; ASSETS. And true, leaving beyond your means, abusing credit is not primarily an African problem. It's more popular in the west. Most Africans dnt have access to credit.

Fantastic. Good to hear your success story from your motherland. Keep it up. We want to hear more from you. As you said it is difficult to retire with a monthly salary in Zimbabwe. Is it really ? What is the minimum income we should have to comfortably live in a nice neighborhood and drive a mid size car ? I assume buying a car could be expensive so how much does a house rent and car rental cost with all other additional costs in total if you can give us an estimated amount ? And another thing I don't know how much it is true but we heard Zimbabwe has shortages of basic items as simple as cooking oil and the likes. Is this actually going on ? I hope it is not. Thanks.

More to come. The income will greatly differ depending on your needs. Do some research on property websites, car rental websites etc. There aren't any shortages at the moment

Good stuff, great thinking ahead. So what's your retirement plan in Zim, how are you mantaining your basic financial requirements? Had savings from the time you were in the UK? Or running another business in zim? I know the farming one didn't go well as you alluded on your other video

Very insightful this. Wish I had seen this video 5 years ago when I came to the UK. May you kindly share when you chose to relocate back to Zimbabwe and how was the transition. Also could you please share how long it took you to prepare for relocating back to ZIM if you don’t mind. My idea is to return back to Zimbabwe before retirement and at least contribute something to Zimbabwe and retire there.

Good content but the truth is you earned the money abroad for your retirement plan/projects back home...so being abroad wasn't too bad after all. Regardless where one is, the key taking from your message is for one to have goals and live within their means.

Why is it a trap. Investment in real estate is one of the best forms of investment. Its a problem if you buy a property that you can’t afford, just like anything else. I live in Sweden and me and i my parter sold our apartment for a 100k profit after 5 yrs last year and bought a house. I don’t know anyone who has a mortgage and can pay it who regrets buying a property. It would be interesting to hear why you would think that.

MOVE TO GHANA WEST AFRICA, do not let anyone fool you, go to Ghana and you will never look back. Land is cheap with WESTERN CURRENCIES from $1000 plus, other places, they give you the land free and you pay for the paperwork. But do your due diligence and get a lawyer to help you purchase a land . Ghana has some of the best medical facilities for those that may need it
