You've come a long way Oscar! Always look forward to seeing your weekly update, gaining your insights and learning more about this disease every day! Glad to hear Humira is working for you and helping you to get your life back! I've been on MTX for 6 weeks now, and have been improving. I started with 10mg and recently the dose was upped to 15mg. I am experiencing some very mild side effects but I know that it's necessary to stick with the treatment as the alternative most likely won't be pleasant. These diseases can cause irreparable damage to the body and joints, and it's very important to get treatment early and try to bang it out. Hopefully you'll go into remission! All the best to you and thank you for putting yourself out there.

Thanks Rich, That comment means a lot. I’m glad you’re getting some relief with the MTX, for me the positive effects increased over time so along with increasing the dosage hopefully that happens in your case also. With the side effects I guess just do what you can to minimise them, all the obvious stuff like stay hydrated, eat well etc. You’re absolutely right about the irreparable damage, that was always my biggest concern but thankfully I think in my case that’s going to be minimal (I can live with a couple funny looking fingers). Stay well! ✌️🤙

I'm where you were before the Humira rn. My toes have swelled up so bad that they dislocated... It's always been in my feet, toes, back, shoulders, and elbow but it's sporadic. A few months ago I couldn't even turn my head, thumb was so sore I couldn't flush the toilet, Hands so sore couldn't twist the cap off a bottle, Elbow and collarbone were so sore I couldn't even roll over in bed, and It's been awful.. when you said you walked down the stairs normally without hangin on to the rail and takin one step at a time I felt a relief.. I'd kill for that because honestly Idk if I'll ever be able to do it again. I'm gettin labs tomorrow and hopefully I can figure out wth is wrong with me but your symptoms match mine to a T. I'm 34 years old and it's fkn annoyin and embarrssing as hell. Thanks for sharin.

Thanks for your reply to my last comment.since then i started on a med called sulfasalazine which after a few days i had to stop due to some scary side affect.about to give it another go and to say im dreading it is an understatement ☹️.like you ive tried the natural route and tho i will carry on i know i need some meds alongside the changes that ive made thanks again for your videos🙏🏻

Hi Liam, I’m familiar with sulfasalazine. For some people it works but I’m surprised after having scary side effects you’re being asked to take it again, I’m sure your rheumatologist has their reason. I think natural with meds is a good combo. Stay positive and I hope the sulfasalazine has some more success second time around

Appreciate hearing your experience with this. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last year and was prescribed methotrexate, but haven’t taken it yet. Symptoms are getting worse so I’ll be starting on it soon I think

It’s a personal choice, but all I can say is it worked for me. I hope you find some resolve from the PsA whatever your decision

One thing that scares me about Methotrexate is erectile dysfunction and loss of libido.

I didn't have any problems with that and I don't think they're related

Hi Simon, Neither of them have come down, still out of range even though they have fluctuated up and down a bit

How did they diagnose you with psoriatic arthritis in the first place? I have a rheumatology appointment in a couple weeks due to a swollen thumb and many symptoms. I’ve had blood tests that didn’t show anything and same with the xray
@liftingoutofthelows1341

The diagnosis was based on the symptoms and the fact I had a couple of small psoriasis patches on my skin and badly on my scalp. They can’t diagnose like rheumatoid arthritis because their isn’t a blood marker that shows PsA that I’m aware of. I got an MRI on one of my fingers and it showed ‘severe tenosynovitis’ which was causing the swelling which is strongly linked with PsA. I’ve also had an X-ray with my swollen fingers and there was no bone abnormality shown. The swollen fingers and overall joint stiffness were the signs that gave them the conclusion but it’s not as much of a clear diagnosis as other conditions from what I understand.

Ahh ok, thanks your reply. I have had psoriasis for around 10 years. I’ve had the swollen finger for a few months. Did yours start off with just one finger?

Yes. It started with my left index finger in July 22. I thought it was an injury from doing a lot of jui jitsu and because of all the gripping but then my right index finger started swelling December 22 and then more started to swell up and be effected throughout 2023.
