Finding clean Foxbodies is now harder than ever and you need to act quickly if you're serious about buying one! Take it from me first hand in this example that I just went to go look at and came back empty handed! The car sold within a day of me going to look at it so there was someone that it suited better!
Persistence is key, if you have a clean Foxbody for sale be sure to send me the details via my contact form on my website!

I’m in NJ and drove to Maryland within a few hours of seeing a clean original 86 GT on a forum. Was well worth it as it was as advertised . Original Florida car no rust really . 83000 miles . Air silencer and date coded wires.

“Smooth bays” are a long term gamble to begin with. No one will ever convince me that putting putty/seam sealer/fill the holes with welds and bondo is a great long term thing considering the heat and vibrations that it’s going thru. No sir. It does look pretty.

I've been looking around for a Fox for about 15 years, but more seriously in the last year. I managed to find an '87 GT vert about 40 minutes away from me. Since I live in New England, finding cars that age without rust is difficult. I took along a friend that does custom body work on cars to help look it over. I've watched plenty of videos like yours to know the basics of what to look for, but he spotted that it had been repainted and other small details. Overall the car was exactly what I was looking for, and the seller was super honest. He even put the car up on his lift, so we could inspect the undercarriage. It looked excellent for a car that age. I gave him a $1k deposit and the seller changed the oil and put in a new clutch cable. He also gave me a new, in the box, set of Eibach lowering springs and about $1,000 of other new parts he didn't have the time to put on. I took the car home in an unexpected snow squall, and put it up for the winter a day or two later. Can't wait for the warm weather to get here! I've stayed in touch with the seller, as he's interested to keep posted on the car. He's also a great resource for advice. Love your channel! Keep up the good work!

Always check the floor pan for cracks under the front seats. My 5.0 4 speed Pace Car had them already in 1988. Typically under where the rear seat bolts are. Now seeing a Foxbody here in Minnesota seems to be rare. I’d be happy to find a V8 or 6 cylinder 79-82 hatchback.

I wish I had you to take along when I looked. Long story short I ended up buying a car that looked good from far but far from good. It needed substantial work just to make it a decent driver. Hindsight’s 20/20 and had I known all the little intricacies I’m not sure I’d of bought it. It’s mine now and I’ve made it something I love to drive and it gets plenty of compliments. It’s a driver and not a show queen which I prefer.

I traveled 2 hours to find my 84 gt350 with 30,000 original miles,I almost lost it to another potential buyer,I thought it was a scam,it was to good to be true, another buyer put a deposit down and promised full payment 3 days later, well that payment never happened,i contacted seller a week later to see if the deal happened, he said no and tired of the games, told me to come check the car out,and i did,it was clean as it was advertised, immaculate everywhere, paint, body lines, interior,no rust anywhere, torque boxes weren't ripped, test drove, everything worked, gave him his asking price, called my brother up to bring trailer, and the rest is history, its all original even down to hoses and clamps from 1984........And i did a marti report, and found out the original dealer kept the car for 11 years,it wasn't titled until 1995

I've got the same 4:28 door gap on my passenger side. It has a "Ford Dot" sticker where the normal Vin tag would be. All my research indicates it's a Ford brand replacement fender. But the Carfax is clean, with no accidents listed. Other than that, it has all original paint and zero rust. I think it being a Ttop, has helped it. I bet it's been stored indoors it's entire life.

My old GT had the same door gap, I loved that car so much. I think sometimes the fox chasis flexes causing the distortion if they are raced. As long as your happy and enjoy your car that's all that matters. 👍

I think you made the right decision. I’ve been there. I’ve been looking for a good affordable fox for about a year now. I won’t buy from people who try to deceive. Foxes here in the Dallas Fort Worth area are a dime a dozen, so I can be a lot more picky. Plus the fox I want is specific. I want a 86 t-top gt, or an 85.5-86 SVO.

That car is a total piece of crap there’s absolutely nothing going for it! The body is trashed, interior worn out, crappy upholstery on the seats, no power windows, no sunroof, as well as no air conditioning! I’d be willing to bet that the whole car is tired mechanically! Brake hoses are probably cracked and every bushing on that whole suspension is hard and dried out! It is even missing the insulation under the hood! It looks like a drug addict owned that car and would mess around with it when he was tweaking! Smart move to walk away!
