Firstly thanks for making this video and sharing info so honestly. Next, to tell you a background, I have worked for Microsoft India some years back as a contract employee. Although the work and learning was good, it never became a permanent position for me. Since that day I took an oath never to work for any company on contract. I know what you also mentioned, the pain and treatment and the fear of being on contract in India ITES is horrible. Its always better to take a salary cut than to work for any sort of company on contract. Contract is Contract, be in Google, Facebook or Microsoft in my case. Contract employees are never treated the same like permanent employees. If the HR says that there is no difference, then demand to make you permanent then. So brother, you did the 1000% right thing. Also, there is no such policy about the company to take people as contract first, its a bullshit that the smart/sneeky HR plays to fool good candidates at cheap rates. I know this about Cisco because..... :P And to all those who are reading my comment, you too please ask this in the very first call with HR if the role is permanent or contract, and never agree to contract - you will loose your mental peace for some short-term money or fake brand value.

Are you sure the HR was from CISCO ? I got interviewed recently. After the hackerrank test , they gave me a business case to solve. Then 2 rounds of interview + hiring manager round. Then only HR round happens. How come after one tech round they scheduled HR round ?

Cisco is not like IBM , Accenture and TCS . Don’t compare. CISCO is one of the most profitable companies in world and one of the biggest product based companies. And one thing I can conclude from this video . Cisco provide 6month internship before FTE for freshers, but you had already job of IBM as you said , that’s doesn’t matter to BIG product based companies. So the whole process is when you are coming from service based to product based companies generally they give you the first level job , So if you are senior software engineer at some service based like TCS, Accenture ,IBM then don’t think you will get same job again in some Big product based companies, chances are more that you have to start from SDE-1 . I have many friends who have 3-4 years of working experience in TCS , IBM but when they switch to some product based, companies gave them same role which generally they gave to freshers. So for them you are fresher only .

I also joined capgemini as c2h role third party pay role . It’s very very painful 3 month for me . I joined there bcoz I have some problem. Until u have no other options please don’t join any company as c2h role .

The probationary period of 6 months is standard with any top IT product company. It is not similar to contractor job. On very bad performance in the 6 months the company can terminate you.

I find "working as temporary" for 6 month really odd. After listening to your interview round, i find them to be short. Usually for a permanent position, post technical round, you would have atleast 2 more round. 1 would be a technical conducted by the team you going to join and the next one would be managerial round conducted by any person carrying leadership in the team. Post then the HR round takes place. If required they might take more round based upon the feedback received from the previous round. There is no conversion of temporary to permanent in cisco for lateral people. Your scenario really sounds odd.

This is factually incorrect. I think the company does not recruit on naukri. And usually you will have more than 1 round. Or maybe also make sure you read the job description before applying. It will have details about full-time etc.

Cisco never hire as contractor, you might have confused with 6 months probation period.

I had given interview in Cisco and all the interview round were below 1. HackerRank 2. Technical round -1 (Webex) 3. Technical round -2 (Webex) 4. managerial round (Webex) 5. HR discussion sometime Technical round -2 is skiped, based on the feedback of Technical round. After clearing all the rounds, I was told that your first 6 months will be probationary not temporary . It seems that there was some communication gap between HR and you, because as per my understanding cisco never directly hire employees on temporary basis.

Direct Cisco never hires from naukri, you have confused with contractor and direct Probation period is different, all product companies have same process and this is not specific to cisco and probation is not same as contract hire

Dont compare IBM, Accenture and TCS. Its totally different
