I'm so glad I watched this. I just did some searching and the other companies are WAY more expensive. Chatbooks is now $8 but the book is nice and the shipping is free. another company does 40 images (doesn't include your photo captions, boo!) and costs like $25 with shipping for only 40 images. So, $8 for 60 images with captions is totally the way to go. I like that I can combine all 3 of my instagram accounts each time into one book. You've made my day. Great video.

I decided to use PL for things with lots of pictures, like the pictures from my daughter's plays and our trip to California. It's tough to do a 12x12 layout or two and leave tons of pictures just sitting. So far, I've only bought the pages. None of the core kits or other kits really appeal to me. Plus, I have tons of scrapbook paper and supplies and I can't see spending more money on new stuff. I love the chatbooks! I do upload pictures to my FB that don't need their own scrapbook page, but it'd be cool to look back at what I was doing and how I was feeling. Thx for the heads up on that!

Thank you for your assessment of PL for documenting my life with my daughter...I think that I will try to use the PL system for "major parts" of her life (and mine as her costume designer and '"chauffeur". Her "dance years"...(ages 2 thru part of college) - using PL for just that aspect of her life may work - showing the competitions, her dance studio life, competitions, her beloved teachers & friends....all wonderful memories for me - and for her. (I may look into their digital "Project Life" system so that others can access this part of their lives together!) Since I'm not much of a "decorator" or "scrapbooker" (which is what has gotten me into this situation of BOXES of photos, memorabilia & ribbons, I think organizing them into a binder, limiting my "decorating", but focusing on journaling along the way may get these precious photos, etc. into binders, chronologically and my focus staying within ONE aspect of her "growing up years" SHOULD help me to figure out how I want handle documenting, storing & decorating the rest of her life.... YOUR assessment of the PL system was immensely helpful! .....and I'm definitely looking into doing the chatbooks for both of our IGram photos!!

loved you project life! I had a go too but couldn't keep it up as if something feels like a chore, its not fun anymore! Love those little books though, and a fun and easy way to document the every day life. I can imagine that you have mixed feelings with your decision; on one hand you probably miss PL and may feel nostalgic at times but on the other hand, you must have such a weight taken off your shoulders and such a freeing feeling. TFS. I agree with you about wanting to do too much to the project life pages. I love to add stuff to my layouts and its hard to do that on PL pockets. I also love those little insta book. cheaper than trying to print yourself. I am sorry for all your loss lately. I use Chatbooks too. They are great-automatic memory keeping for everyday moments. I did Project Life for the entire year of 2014-although on a much simpler scale. I love my album and am glad I did it. I really would like to be more disciplined to do it again, but in the app form.

Just now watching this video and I couldn't agree more that Project Life actually seems more difficult for me! I hate being stuck with a certain pocket page style when I turn the page and have new memories to work with that may call for a different page style. I know I could just put patterned paper, but that seems wasteful and would make my scrapbook disconnected. I also don't like seeing the pages between the seams - make the page look chaotic to me. Designers often seem to put the page on a solid surface for photographing because it looks so much better that way. Thanks for the tip on Chatbooks - I will totally check that out!

I do totally hybrid pl - I don't try to do it weekly or keep "current". I am using the format, as well as interspersing 12X12 pages throughout when a picture/pictures are outstanding. I even use my ATG to tape two pages together if I want to use a different pocket page than what I previously used (gasp!) but it works well for me and I am getting lots of pages in albums that my grown children have never previously seen!

I can totally relate. I cannot, for the life of me, get my pages to come out. Making sure I had the right size "whatever" for the opposite side of a sleeve was just too much thinking, and agonizing. I like the look of it, but have never found any tips as to how to actually PLAN the pages.

You were my first introduction to ChatBooks. Interested in the Instagram Series but cannot tell from their web site, so maybe you can tell me, I know it says it prints the "caption." But my captions are almost always just hashtags. Does it print the hashtags, if that is what is in the caption? I assume it does not print the "likers" or the comments? Thank you!

If I spent that much time on PL I would absolutely hate it. I basically do pictures, a little bit of journaling and filler cards. I may put a label and/or dots on a card or I may just leave them plain. I always think that I would love to have a super embellished beautiful page but mine are just super simple and I love putting them together. I also have really enjoyed going back and looking at my pages. I just started in August of 2014 and I think I will just stick with my simple style. I am glad you shared this so that I don't feel too bad about keeping it simple. Your book is beautiful btw.

how did you manage to get the date to be day.month.year im in australia and its confusing to me when it shows up on the app at month.day.year which is the us version but i notice yours isnt that way, did you change it in the settings or did it just turn up that way??

Literally me. And I couldn’t stand how u couldn’t make it look neat. Then I realized I liked hybird. If you can’t have everything streamlined and match perfectly.... then it just simply must be a complete mish mash to “work”. Colors. Black and white. Heavy embellishment. No embelishments, project life and 12s all together in harmony. Also in typing this I admit I’m about three years behind on my project life. And about 15 or 20 years behind in general . Lol

Chatbooks seem to be pretty cool, only thing I don't like is that photos are on both sides of the pages. I pocket scrapbook my photos, albeit very simply. A question for you..... Is this a subscription and can you choose pictures that are not in instagram, but on your phone to be put into the book? Thanks for sharing! So sorry to hear about your loss. Bless you and yours!

Can you use it without connecting to your Instagram? Can you also pick whichever pics you want? Eg. It doesnt have to be every Instagram pics? Can you also do a collage on it with different pics and different captions/more journaling.
