Possibly. I'm not sure honestly if that would really fit with my channel/if that would be something I feel I could make a good video about since the way I have sold stores is through the Shopify Store Exchange which they shut down in 2022

I'd like the $1 ad videos. Is that something you'd put on your other channel? Also, I'd love to see a comparison video of metal sign providers. I have watched your videos about the signs, but I don't know how many suppliers make them. I prefer Shopify to having a platform shut me down. I'd lose my mind, so I'd want control over that aspect!

what sours me a bit is each attempt to study which states or municipalities collect how much tax and remitting it etc. I agree with everything you’re saying, there’s just these pesky details that as a busy person, lean me towards letting etsy do it. I get it…it’s all just a fee for designing and we make them a lot of money. Is there anyway to simplify the tax collecting and remittance on our own, without an expensive service that we may not feel ready to purchase to assist.

The biggest issue for me with not using esty or Amazon is having to pay upfront for items to be sent to customers and dealing with possible returns how do you navigate those issues

unless you have a large social media following it is going to be difficult to bring people to your store

None of this is easy lol I’ve been demonstrating here on my channel how I’ve gotten thousands of visitors and made my first $6k in sales so far in about 5 weeks with a new store, without a following. It is two strategies, you either put time into hundreds of designs and Etsy/Amazon seo to be found Or you make a handful of designs and spend time on social media getting traffic, and long term with the same effort as selling on Etsy or Amazon you’ll have an asset (your brand)

I’d go a step further and create my own website plus shop. Connecting to POD-Services is not that difficult if you are not scared to learn their APIs. Higher learning curve but one does save a lot of fees in the long run.

Some providers don’t have that available in their API, I prefer Shopify for its ease in set up, they’re the leader in e-commerce for a reason

@@RealJoeRobert Providers without an API are - by design - not available on Shopify either, since they exchange data that way. I’m a web developer so I might have a different perspective on the whole thing too.

In a way, that’s true - but if you’re trying to figure out what “works” and you’re selling in a competitive niche, or having trouble with search seo, then you may not get the results you’re looking for even if you have created great things. That’s what I was trying to say in the video, there are lots of “ways to see what works” without using a platform

and when you run fb ads you are at the mercy that they can deactivate your account for no particular reason in the middle of an ad campaign

Facebook has very clear policies though if you don’t violate something you won’t be randomely deactivated. Etsy is the only place I’ve been seeing random deactivations

If so you still have a chance, still have options, but if Amazon or Etsy shot down your store it's impossible to open an account

$1 ads! Another reason to not sell on marketplaces is your advertising to your competitors/copycats, your original designs won’t stay original for long, not even Taylor Swift or Disney are immune to it!

What does copy cats? I don’t think anyone would argue that copy cat issue is even close between Etsy and Shopify though.
