I got rid of my 17' Tuono V4 1100 Factory for a 19' YZ450FX supermoto and having the most fun ever. Imo, smaller lightweight torquey bikes are the most fun on the street. Liter bikes are overrated on the street, they are better suited for the track where you can have proper fun on them without the law bothering you.

How much cheaper is insurance? I have a Kawasaki 650 that's $140 year, when i was looking at supersports and supernakeds they were like $2k+. In my 30's, clean driving record, no tickets/accidents (in the last 10 years).

You're a smart kid. I've been riding for 20 plus years. Had everything from Harley's to supernakeds, including a 2015 FZ09, I currently ride a 2017 Ducati Scrambler Classic, very similar to your FZ07. 75hp, light, flickable puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. I completely agree with you these type of bikes make way more sense on the street. Great Video, ride safe my friend.

Yep, a lot of people are gravitating towards the more sensible bikes that are fuel economic, light, multi-purposed, etc. I myself, after owning 2 sport bikes, am looking at a 2019 triumph street scrambler or KTM 790 adventure r for my next bike. They’re more versatile, comfortable, handleable, and can go off road. It’s the freedom that us riders want, and a sport bike is restricted to the street where as a good adventure bike can deliver adventurous spirit.

As an 09 owner I admit the 07 looks better without that banana seat, and I'll admit there are days I want to wring it out too without hitting 100. But I love my 09 with a full Lextek exhaust though because it's deep and rumbly under 5k rpm, but has that sweet triple sound in the higher revs.

@@larryford9732 Ever hear an FZ-07 with a baffle-less M4 exhaust?? It sounds like a V8 monster... All my riding buddies LOVE the sound of my bike. They say it's the best sounding bike they've ever heard. Deep rumbling, crackling and pops, constantly turns heads. This is coming from people with R6s, GXSRs, and cruisers. I kind of want the 09 but can't get over the sound and torque of the parallel twin 07.
@benwells2338
@benwells2338 4 жыл бұрын
Agree bout that sound. I know tons of guys typically rave about that supersport inline four scream, but personally, I just find it all a bit bland or lacking much character. I have a Ninja 650, probably the quietest bike ever! haha, so I replaced the stock exhaust with a full system SC Project setup and dude, it truly made the bike come to life. Ya I’m missing out on those two extra cylinders of power, but part of the great thing of motorcycling is just how personal and subjective of an experience riding can be. Not ragging on those that like the inline four sound by any means, to each their own. Enjoy the ride everyone! 😎

Bikes like the Tuono are only fun after 90mph. They're dull at legal speeds. That's the trouble with most stupidly powerful bikes. I've had a boat load of bikes and felt all sorts of power levels. I still have the most fond memories of my old SV650.

@@exothermal.sprocket Now that I think about it, you're actually right. My friend has the 2018 Tuono V4 and it's a great machine! It glides through turns, has plenty of horses, and feels great to ride. I was barely able to use 40% of its power (this actually kind of bothered me LOL). If I were to own that bike, my license would be suspended within a week... You get comfortable riding fast very quickly. I personally believe the mid-weight naked's like the MT-09, Street Triple RS, and the 890 all offer the perfect amount of power. But my philosophy will always remain the same: We only live this life once so get whatever your heart desires and be happy!

I understand completely because, back in August of 2014 when the Yamaha Demo Days truck came to town, I test rode both the FZ-09 and FZ-07. I rode the FZ-09 first, and while that was OK, it felt a lot like the seven 4-cylindered bikes I'd had in the past. It just didn't do it for me. Then came the ride on the FZ-07. Man, that was more like it for me. Excellent power delivery, light, maneuverable, and it sounded very good as an added bonus. The bike was WAAAAAYYY more fun than the FZ-09, I felt. Two days later, I bought my brand-new 2015 FZ-07 (in red) and enjoyed that bike for 3-and-a-half-years.

I totally agree with you as far as having fun on a smaller bike is concerned. For years I also thought the next bike always has to bigger and faster than the previous one. But then one day realized I did not enjoy riding anymore. My Kawasaki Z800 felt too heavy and was not cornering well. I preferred riding my bicycle over the Kawa for two seasons and then made the decision to let it go. I sold it and got myself a Ducati Monster 797 with „only“ 75hp. That was in 2017 and I couldn’t be happier and still have a big smile on my face every time I ride it. Greetings from Germany!

I've got a CBR600RR(first bike) and a WR450 super motard(second bike), the WR450 brought so much different fun. Yes, the 4 cylinder screaming at 15.000rpm gives me the chills but then I'm already speeding atleast 30km/h which is a fine of over 300 euro's, WR450 needs a lot more time to reach that kind of speeds and it feels like blowing up at that speed so I won't do it. Only 'downside' of the WR450, is it does wheelies like no other which is bad for your drivings license. Probably end up buying a third bike like a CB500 or CB600, something cheap and more upright, more street suitable.

I totally get it! It isn't a downgrade at all! You have way more usable power and every time you accelerate you can do it way longer than on a bike with more power. In january have my license since january and first only rode a powerfull bike with the riding lessons. Last week I rented a 48hp Z900 (I live in the Netherlands and therefore am limited the first 2 years to 48hp). Icould keep up with my dad riding a 1200cc 116hp Triumph. Had to shift way more often but that made it even more fun. Congrats on your new bike, would love to own a FZ07 one day!

I get why you got an MT07. I had a MT07 and I tried an MT09sp and it didn’t draw me in enough to change. A ktm 790 duke did a good year or so later however. Think it’s similar ethos. Punchy twin and light weight that can be chucked around both bikes are smiles for miles. I would say overall the KTM just edges out the box. However some massive things I miss and love about my old MT07. The sound of that CP2 engine is one of the best sounding engines out there. The initial grunt and low down grunt of the MT07 is something else. Let’s not forget price of these things either they are so much fun for the money. At start of this year I had a Mt07 and an R6 which was mainly for track. I sold R6 to free up some cash for my honeymoon. It was great on track but hated it on road which saw the bike not getting much use. I like yourself fancied a change. I wanted a bike that could commute one day and track day the next. The MT07 would of been good enough for this just the allure of electronics and the slight increase in power drew me to the KTM duke 790. Love the KTM it fits the bill. Part of me wishes Yamaha would do an MT07-SP not all us riders want 150bhp plus bikes. I said when I sold the MT07 it wouldn’t be my last one and despite my love for my new KTM if I could find some spare money I’m year or two time I’ll look to get an xsr700 so I can enjoy a cp2 engine again but this time in a retro style package. You’ve gained a new sub. Hope you enjoy the MT07 and look forward to seeing upcoming videos on your adventures 👍🏻

I get what you're saying, I have a '15 FZ-07 and I love it, mostly for the engine and it's nimbleness. One of my favorite bikes ever (when I was younger/smaller) was my first bike, a Yamaha DT 100. That peppy little engine and it's weight made it a super fun bike to ride. A 125 or 250 enduro would be a lot of fun at my size now, I may get a good used one to haul in the back of my truck when I go up to northern Georgia/Tennessee area to ride on their fire roads through the mountains. That would be awesome I think. Careful where you do wheelies. Be safe!

I'd much rather have my FZ-09, but I totally respect that you're doing it for you. It's really difficult to be able to enjoy all of the 09 on the road without being deep into arrestable territory. I own a Subaru BRZ so I definitely can appreciate the slow vehicle fast thing, it's the best characteristic of that car and I'm sure it's the best characteristic of the FZ-07 as well. Fun within the limit is honestly something rare to find these days so I definitely appreciate your reasoning for doing so.

It is refreshing to hear from someone younger not getting caught up in the power trap just going bigger and bigger. It makes so much sense to choose the bike that works for you and your riding, you are bang on the smaller bike can be awesome fun and i understand the joy of being able to hold full throttle in windies when others have to hold partial or they'll overspeed. I ride a ducati monster 659 right now and going to an mt09 due to being a big guy and just needing that bit more grunt right now (and i love wheelies and the 659 is not cutting it) but the risk of speeding too much is going to be a challenge.

I recently did the same thing for the same reason. I "downgraded" from an FZ-10 to a Hypermotard 939SP. More fun at lower speeds, I break the laws less, except for wheelies, but then I was doing that on the FZ-10 as well, just faster. And with the higher center of gravity on the Hypermotard, I don't have to go into turns anywhere near as fast to get "that feeling" when you are cornering. I thought that I was the only one making this move though. Some of my friends think I'm nuts, or scared, but they have no idea what they are missing.....

I completely agree with your argument, I have been riding 45 yrs, the biggest bike I owned was a Multistrada 1000 but that was for touring Europe 2 up. I followed that (after totaling it....oops!) with a 650 single for nearly 5 yrs and have just bought an XSR700. Sometimes a bike can be intimidating but there is a "goldilocks" value for power and weight and really "less is more" to certain degree, especially if you have lots of power but are scared to use it all, then it's just a dead-weight.

I went from an R1 to a dragster800 and I am so in love with the MV. 200hp to 140hp and I’d do it 10 out of 10 times. When I was on the R1 I’d break the speed limit in 1st gear... on the MV Agusta I can wind through the gears and drag a knee and redline and just really enjoy every aspect of the bike. When I was young I wanted a liter bike bc big dick that’s why. And nothing is wrong with that, the R1 was an amazing machine. But the MV has unlimited smiles per gallon when it comes to me and my riding style. That’s the key, YOU and YOUR riding style is what’s most important. If you wanna do 180mph then get a liter bike, if you wanna be loud but comfortable, get a Harley, if you want radio and AC get a goldwing. If you want thrilling and nimble and fun, go with a smaller bike

Hate the white wheels, and yes, I hated them on the FZ09 too. I do prefer the sound of the FZ07 over the 09 all day everyday. But... If I'm honest, You need to switch the the M4 exhaust. There's such an amazing sound difference between the M4 and every other aftermarket exhaust for the FZ07! There's really no comparison. That being said: I like the FZ07! I always have. It's a great bike for anyone. I wish the styling was a little more aggressive but thats just me. I disagree with you on one thing though: I know that the FZ07 can't keep up with the 600 series of super sport bikes in the twisties. At least not in the Adirondacks. Been there, done that. I've even tried it myself on a friends FZ07. If the 600's stay in lower gears, it's no contest. If the 07 stays in lower gears, it tends to lift the front wheel a little too much under acceleration, resulting in it not being able to come out of corners as fast. If the 07 stays in higher gears, it doesn't accelerate fast enough, resulting in it not being able to come out of corners as fast... The FZ07 just isn't made for racing. It's a little Hooligan bike, and that's what it dominates at. It's not as balanced as super sports... But that's exactly what people love about it! The friend who's FZ07 I road in the Adirondacks, he downgraded from an R1 and has had zero regrets.

sounds to me like you have a rider error if you cant keep up or pass 600s in the twisties. and i dont mean that from a disrespect standpoint but i own an a 17' FZ07 with the M4, flash, airbox, cut spacer in the front shocks and a thicker oil, a subcage but it only weighs 3lbs extra. I ride at NJMP every weekend and i put a hurting on some r6's. Only get up to 110 in the back straight and with a decent pad i can out brake most heavier sportbikes and and get just as much lean angle. im only 5'7 and 120lbs, and if you know how to roll into its power the front end lifting is never an issue. Lighten the engine brake and you have urself a very unsuspecting track bike. only downside ive found is the 3.75 gallon fuel tank forces for some extra fuel stops if you are really getting on it.
