A question I get asked frequently is “why would you ever want to leave California for Poland?” It’s a sincere question, I don’t blame people for asking.
Why on earth would anyone ever want to leave utopic California, for…of all places…Poland?
Well, there are many reasons. And in this video, I present some of them!

I’m Ukrainian, but studied in Poland. Last 6 years I live in USA, but I miss Poland so much. There are definitely a lot of things which was better in Poland than US. And I know, that in last 6 years Poland changed a lot for better. I don’t have polish language anymore on my keyboard, but I just want to say big DZIEKUJE to polish people for all the help provided to Ukraine during the war! We will never forget that.

I moved from California to Kraków Poland 8 1 /2 years ago. I love my city and the country of Poland. Everything you said is very true. I am 66 years old and live on a fixed income. I have a much better quality life here than I could in the States. I feel very safe here as well. I have come to have great respect for Poland and her people.

What is better in States then? I've never been there, but let me create my list after viewing so many films and reading the books. 1. Average house/apartment is bigger and cheaper to buy (maybe not in California though) 2. Typical car is bigger 3. Less biurocracy - most of the things you can do online or over the phone, like here in the UK 3. Variety of climate - you can go in the winter from snow in Rhode Island to the sunny Texas. 4. People are nicer, but often I find it shallow and fake. Even after having lived in the UK for the past 15 years. My main downside of living in the USA is the cost of the health service. Also, artificial food and this horrible for the most part and tasteless, spongy and lacking texture white bread.

Probably Poland is good for retirement. I spent in total 8 years in Poland, for now I live in Carlsbad, California. The day I left Poland was one of the best in my life. Sure, CA has higher crime level, but in Warsaw, "European" capital, in city center someone stole lamp from Uber-Food courier which costs only $1.25.. The theft is common thing there. Of course, they also steal from cars when you leave smth that attracts attention. So basically crime is the same in SF, LA - most dangerous cities of California. The Poles are very hypocritic people, they hate their neighbor countries - Germany, Russia, Ukraine.. Germany invested billions in this ungrateful county and Poles still hate it. I don't get it. Sure someone says the Americans are fake, probably, but I prefer American society to hypocrite, morally humiliated and arrogant poles

@@yurimolotov3355 Southern California, near the beach, was where I was born and raised. At the time, 1950s to 1970s, I thought it was the greatest place to be raised. But in 1980 I moved to the Rockies of Colorado. Later we moved to Washington state and Kentucky. Then in 2004, I moved back to So Cal to caregive for my elderly and legally blind dad until he passed away.💔 Afterwards, in 2013, I moved to Poland. With the way you feel about Poland and her people, it seems you made a good decision to leave. I understand, as I felt the same when I left Kentucky to move back to California. Ten long years in eastern Kentucky made me grateful to return to California, though when I left in 1980 I swore I would never move back. I hope life goes well for you there.

But then despite all of challenges that I had in Poland such language barrier, 50 shades of Grey wheather and so on, I kinda love living in there. I live in Kraków (it is a magnificent city) and I fell in love the atmosphere of this city. Not only city but the opportunities in tech market is another reason to stay here. Last but not the least, the cost of living is amazing when you work in IT companies. Finally, this year I started to learn Polish as I enjoy being here. I moved permanently to Poland 6 years ago after many years of visiting and studying here. But my reasons were not primarily economic, but spiritual. The reason the crime rates etc are low in Poland, is because, even in spite of the cruelty of past wars and occupations, basic human decency is a staple characteristic of the average Pole. I hope that never changes. I would never live anywhere else.

Ten film to jedna z najlepszych reklam Polski, jakie widziałem. Wymieniasz same suche i przede wszystkim prawdziwe fakty, o których my Polacy często zapominamy. Powodzenia!

Now coming into an age that my (early)retirement is very close, I am already looking forward to travell much more into the Eastern countries as well. Polish people can really be very proud for what they have achieved. Next I also find it very interesting that quit a lot of US citizens are moving to Europe. Tell that to Polish people who make that kind of money per month. Living in Poland is inexpensive if you come with a dollar or have a western salary, but for everyday Pole is extremely expensive. On the other hand I agree that Poland is one of the safest countries to live at, also very clean, good food, nice restaurants, buildings are very well maintained, attractive architecturally. Knowing Poland and the US where I was born: it makes NO SENSE for a Pole to live in the US now, absolutely no sense. Poland is both a civilized and with a fantastic population, you don't have to aggressiveness and violence that is prevalent in the US. A you have access to good food which is nearly impossible in the US for certain items unless you farm them yourself.

I used to live in Mississauga & Toronto for 8 years. Then I decided to move back to my first love which is Warsaw. The huge , very modern but also with old town and old traditions City were I was born and raisd up to 19 years old. And I must to say that it was my biggest mistake in my life. U have to b rich to say nonsens like that . Coz i guarantee u that if u would b regular polish middle class the difference in standard r just overwhelming. We do not live in a houses and usually , regular polish family with 2 or 1 kid own just one car and mostly it's an older one. That's true that Poland and especially Warsaw is changing for better very, very quickly. In just 30 years when Poland had gotten real independents it has change more then a lot. In 2008/9 I have been to UK. In Glasgow to b exact. Already I had a feeling that Warsaw was not less modern. But Ive noticed that brits r more rich then us. Seriously, 12 years leter Poland is almost equal to UK. For sure is richer then some of the western countries like Portugal, Greece etc. ...its all great but U can not compare Europe to Canada. And certainly u can't compare Canada to Poland. The standard of lifestyle is different like crazy. Even stupid costomer servis. This thing doesn't exist in Poland. When Canada decided to let gey people to marry if they want? Like in 2005/6? This is how Poland is delayed. 15- 20 yeras behind Canada. That's the reality.

I'd argue that the self-criticism is part of Polish cutlure, in a sense. You'll be hard pressed to find a Pole who won't complain how shitty Poland is, all the while probably willing to lay their life down for said "shitty" country. Polish itself is a biting, dry, dark homour and sarcasm kind of language. Think of the Witcher universe- the language itself is like that world. English is a lot more positive and upbeat.

As a Polish- American PR professional working with clean tech startups going through their funding rounds, I've always thought that Polish tech startups need to be more aggressively marketing themselves in places like NY and California to get on the radar of those investors who could really take them to the next level. Poland is a place where many international companies have decided to establish their branches or financial and tax centers, eg SSC. Why? There are many reasons: in Poland we have excellent, qualified employees who speak several foreign languages, competitive salaries, rich technical and research infrastructure. In Poland, there are over a dozen great universities educating specialists whose knowledge and qualifications are recognized all over the world. It is worth coming to Poland and see for yourself!

Well , I am international student in Warsaw. It can be quite good place for CEO s or IT professionals like you but what about others ? Many polish people leave the country to feed their families and have property here in Poland because you can't really buy house or new car for salaries . Besides bureaucracy is another problem. Yes , it's developing quite fast but life is pretty hard for simple working people. They get 3000 pln and pay 1000 for rent 500-800 food 150 transport and how much can you save 1000 pln =250$ ?? In America waiter can earn 4000$ and save 2500-3000 $

I am in the US and I would like to know what waiters make that much and can save that much. In Chicago people are really struggling financially. Many people live with family or have multiple roommates in order to afford the rent. Property taxes here are astronomically high and getting higher. And the bureaucracy is horrible in the state of Illinois. I will be leaving this country because I can no longer afford it. The people that I know in Poland live comfortably and many live quite well.

@@ilyosbekjumayev4869 how dare you say that I don’t live in the US or that I am lazy, when you don’t know one damn thing about me! I have lived most of my life in Chicago and I have worked six days a week my entire life. Average rent in Chicago is $2000 per month. Don’t take my word for it, look it up. When I had to call the state of Illinois earlier this year, it took one week for them to call me back and no you couldn’t do it online. So don’t tell me about things that you do not know about. These are just a couple of examples.
