Yep, 9 to 5 is false security. Having a skill, developing it, learning new material and being creative is real security.

The comfort of a 9-5 development job made it very hard for me to quit. I enjoyed the challenge, people, and money, but building a product I didn't care about for someone else eventually pushed me over the edge. To earn the salary I had before means learning brand new skills to market myself, which is scary and motivating. Thankfully the one skill I can take with me is coding. Your plan to earn money independently through content and software sounds similar to mine. After 13 years working for others, this new approach gives me the same buzz of coding something, but this time to create a product I'm excited about.

I don't agree with 9-5 being a bad thing. Some people do need it, in an economy where there are so few jobs. 9-5 does give a work-life balance for people who want to live a normal life with their family. People can estimate their day, and get their errands done, go to the gym etc. Downplaying 9-5 is something I will always disagree with. I am myself a freelancer and finding my own path, but trust me it's not easy either. I am thankful that I get to live this life, but I am still grateful for my 9-5 jobs. It gave me my skill set, made me able to grow my network, and gave me proper exposure to the tech market.

people working in different sector and generation their suggestion according that field , remember when we were in primary schools.. we say maths book of class 9 and 10 is very hard but when we came across it and work hard ...we learn and pass easily just like that when you are doing your 9 to 5 it was good but when to leave it ,..it became bad . no this is not the reality this is because your perception changes, the way you think is changed that's why your suggestion changes @Dorian

Hell yeah man, I feel you on that! I had my first taste what it would be like to never work a 9-5 again doing food delivery believe it or not. I could wake up any time I wanted, work any time I wanted. Now I'm thinking about getting into freelancing for web development, and other related stuff, etc (I have a software degree). Been coding a lot lately. I also have a youtube channel that makes tiny bits of money, but nothing to write home about. I like your idea of having different "hustles" so you can choose which hustle you can work on when you want -- never even though of that myself! It feels really good to have that freedom and excitement and adventure. At the end of the day, it's probably still a grind, but sure beats living in that corporate lifestyle, no? Cheers man!

I learned to code when I was 10 but never knew I could make money with my knowledge. 20 years later I found out coding is well paid, so I updated my knowlege going from HTML to Nextjs, Typescript, file uploads, databases, ORM's, Paypal, etc. I studied so much in 3 years that I now don't feel like working for someone 😂 I've coded so many test projects, I'm now finishing my 2nd real project and planning to just use all this knowledge FOR ME.

@ryan-el9er16 күн бұрын
you don’t get it… lol. more than 90% of construction workers, truckers, and carpenters ARE 9-5 workers. it has nothing to do with literally working 9am to 5pm. it doesn’t matter what your schedule is. a “9-5 worker” refers to a worker who has to go to a job site of some sort that is designated by the employer and you have to work some specific schedule also designated by the employer. if you’re working 5pm to 5am, that’s a 9-5 worker. 8am to 12pm then again 3pm to 8pm? also 9-5 worker. if you can’t change your schedule every single day without telling someone and work your own hours because there is no rule about your hours then you are a 9-5 worker
