33hz tune on enclosure is the best, in my opinion, for hip hop.

I love to move air. I tuned to 29.75 in my current vehicle. It peaks at 35 Hz but plays all the way down to 20 Hz without flutter. I love re-bass stuff but unfortunately I also like hard rock so it’s almost like I need 2 completely different set ups for different music. I find that if I tuned to 33 to 35 Hz yes it plays my Pantera better but then it doesn’t move the air that I want when things get down to around 20 Hz

I’m a sub contractor and I am the same way in my profession I love to give advice and help people. But your videos help me understand so much better and easier then any other video on KZfaq man. And I have been diagnosed with a learning disability since I was 5 years old, and still to this day it’s hard for me to really learn and remember how to do something. You made it so much easier for me to understand just by having a conversation and explaining everything. Thank you so much for your time bro for doing these videos it really means a lot.

Country music today has serious knock in it. It gives hip-hop a run for its money in audio department, and not just in bass but the mids and highs too. A well balanced system will turn country music into a full blown outdoor concert.

I hear you MB Ive been experimenting with many tunings and MY sweet spot is around 38hz....36 is nice but for me I like that hard hitting bass drum but still be able to get down there a bit. 42 hertz sounded great with punchy music like country but you lose that low end a bit....so I decided ,for me, 36-38 is my sweet spot and i try to build in the middle of the manufacturers recommendations on air space....I know for you to get that 33hz low end hum you got to add that air space...no way around it. Im just the middle guy little bit of both......but that amp makes a difference to....most folks just look at power and thats it....for me i need high damping...and low distortion....i also don't like to run at 1ohm because it stresses out the amp so i think its better to get a 3000 watt amp at 1ohm and run it at 2 ohm.....keep that headroom form accuracy. Just my opinion....love what you do ...

Designs built around sub specs will net a flat response if done properly. Granted your right, all subs peak at certain frequency's(also known as FS), it is the enclosure designers job to find what the intended application is, and build around that. Just got into building enclosures myself. I tune low, and use smaller port area for sq oriented builds, to off set the typical natural drop in output at the low end of the spectrum(below 30hz typically). For more spl oriented builds, where the customer wants loud ,and willing to sacrifice some bandwidth, a larger port tuned a bit higher(or lower pending user preference and music) will net bigger numbers, but then ya start stepping away from that flat response. Most that listen to real Music, want a flat response. It's a trade off, no free lunch here. Also to note, cabin gain should be accounted for. Cabin gain can vary depending on where the mic is placed. Typically lower "mid bass" is amplified through cabin gain, 30-50hz pending vehicle. I try and place the microphone at driver headrest for vehicle testing, before plotting out a enclosure design. That's where the listener sits, and the most important in my opinion. Unless they are chasing numbers. Being a good enclosure designer is mostly understanding what the customer is listening to most of the time, and building for that customers expectations, vehicle, and equipment. A bass whisperer if you will.

Hits super low and mean. I find that yea its loudest in the 30 hz somewhere.. probably 31 - 38 hz.. it gets all the way down low but yea bass rolloff is a b!tch.. ported can bring that low end decible up but i dont like ported most the time. I think I am suffering that problem with this box that came with a sub and even when I changed to another sub it sounds about the same not really putting out the music the way I would like. So the box is "tuned" and even with a better amp connected to the sub. The amp is putting out really well the weak part seems to be the box.
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 2 жыл бұрын
A lot of prefabbed boxes are tuned a bit high, like 40-45Hz to get higher output using a smaller port. This also makes the box much smaller, lighter and easier to ship. The box is tuned to the airspace around the woofer, so changing the sub isn't going to change the sound much. To change the resonate frequency of the box requires a larger, longer port. So the box gets pretty big, but it will get loud and low.

(2.8 cube, Kerf Ported to 36) will be going into a Sedan and rear seats both can fold down. And I mainly listed to Hip Hop I am shopping for good decent subwoofers (10 inch) what should these subs be at ideally in regards to (FS)? Should I be looking for (FS) below or above the 36hz box tune? ie: 32/33hz or 38/40hz etc. Any info will be appreciated..

How about a set of say sony xplodes. I recommended a frend to get a 4 cu box for it tuned to 32hz was I wrong to suggest that he listens to hiphop mostlly but his gf likes some country. I gave him and eq 6500 to be able to feed the sub higher frequency's for country thought that would cover it. Im asking cause he I guess bought something online so I hope i didn't stear him wrong. I know no matter what it'll blow away the prefab those sony's came in. that was all blown apart.

Would you still tune to 33 hz if your cabin peak was 38hz

OG I got the same amp as u the Rockford 1500 bdcp and I have a ported box tuned to 33 hz. What should I set the frequency hz im assuming that's the low pass filter setting on the Rockford to? 🤔

Old question, I know. The low pass is what keeps vocals out of your sub. You can set it by ear. Listen to your music and keep tweaking until you get that sweet spot.

On the average, how much does the box tuning decrease when placed in the truck

It varies.... but 3-5hz... you have to have a enclosure designed for the car and placed where he tells you too

I like to feel the lows and be windy. But I also like to listen to high bass. I have a single Xv3 18. What type of box should I build for the best performance. I will hook it up to a bc4k at 1 ohm

if you wanna dig deep into the lower 20s, i'd reccomend a tuning of 28hz. Since you have an 18, it will be loud no matter if its tuned low, but if you want you could build a 4th order and make the second tuning to like 50hz of something like that. 4th order is a much bigger hassle though.

I'd use the 18 for the lows and then get you some 8" or so midbass drivers for the upper bass impact. The try and get both from an 18 is asking a lot.
