I categorized all mentioned reasons why people love being software engineers. - Self-actualization (Cognitive challenge, Exploration) - Esteem (Making an impact, Ego/feeling unique) - Love and belonging (Software engineering community) - Safety (Sustainability/stable income) Most people focus on the two highest categories of needs (by Maslov): Self-actualization and Esteem.

Software development is cool job if you are doing real core development but incase if you are working in other country branches of silicon Valley companies like India, Philippines etc then we mostly get tasks like maintenance, bug fixing, small feature addition etc of projects whose core development is already completed in head quarters situated in silicon valley

That’s a major generalization. There are many teams everywhere fixing bugs and not true. Fixing bugs and doing maintenance is part of the job. And there are many teams I’ve worked with from other countries that have built major features and products.

Video idea suggestion: What new SWEs(1-3 YOE) should do to improve and eventually become a Senior SWE. Justification: So many videos out there on what college grads should do to get in the industry. This is the big plus that coding bring us. But there is an issue with it wich I saw and felt in person. With Every tool we will build we take the work wich a person or more wil do. Have you ever sent a letter this days? Have you calculated how many people you need for sending a letter? Now is not that necessary because we have instant message. I know is evolution and I’m up for this because I code and love too this but let’s give people an alternative who dose not have a job anymore because of this.
