Couldn't have said it better. Eiyuden is a passion project created by the original Suikoden talent. They created their own Studio for this because Konami wasn't interested in the series. Suikoden lives on in Eiyuden, I'm sure of that. Honestly I'd be shocked if Eiyuden ends up being bad. It really ticks off all the boxes so far.

I feel like we need to be careful with how we compare the two. Yes, Rabbit and Bear understands intellectual property laws with comparing the 2….but i feel like we need to start separating Eiyuden vs. Suikoden. Yes, we are bringing back something we love, but let’s start creating and not comparing em and making Eyuiden it’s own brand.

As much as I'm excited for this game a part of me is always gonna be sad that we haven't seen the complete stories set in Suikoden's world. I want to see the holy kingdom of harmonia, who the eff is Hikusaak really and what is he up to, what's up with Yuber and Pesmerga, the rest of the True Runes, how are my buddies Flik and Viktor doing, why is Jeane always hot, etc. Their world building was too good :*)

As for the video, yes I'm not waiting for Suikoden anymore. We have what we wanted, a masterpiece from Murayama and his hand picked team. It can't get any better than this! So I'm all in for Eiyuden right now.

As soon as the trailer started I literally screamed "It's Suikoden, that's Suikoden!!" because come on, it's undeniable it is. It has all the classic Suikoden elements, the design, the camera angle, the quality sprite animation, the home base system, THE CHARACTER COLLECTING. It's as if Hironobu Sakaguchi and other people who worked on mainline Final Fantasy titles started a new studio and made a game called Infinite Fantasy, featuring all Final Fantasy tropes. It would be Final Fantasy.

I am very excited for this game. However, I still feel a bit of heartbreak knowing that this is likely the final nail in the coffin for the original Suikoden canon. Still so many questions left unanswered (true runes, character stories, etc). Part of why I fell in love with Suikoden as a child was the connectivity between games and the consistency of the world. It framed the series as the epic that it truly is. That's something I'll likely mourn until we get a proper Suikoden 6, by Muriyama or otherwise.

Funny thing, I started out by playing the game Suikoden 4, which I just happened to spy on a shelf in GameStop. That was my first and only game, but it was the one that convinced me to back Eiyuden Chronicle on Kickstarter. I’m super excited for the game to come out! :D

Calling it a parody is an. . . .interesting choice of words to say the least. Not only is the usage here incorrect but boiling it down to "parody" has a bit of negative connotation in this. Granted, I can see where this comes from since it is a literal spiritual successor, but it's a bit ironic to call it a parody when it's literally being developed by the orginal creator himself and is a serious attempt to provide an experience for us fans. As for Konami, I'm still buying the remaster whenever it drops but when it comes to the possibility of a Suikoden 6, that's a whole other can of worms that could really be a video of itself. Although that's just my thoughts on it. Maybe I might've missed something but that's how I think it is lol

My head canon is that the Eiyuden games are a spin off of the Suikoden. It's been established in the lore that there are numerous "worlds" in Suikoden, like the world that dragons originate from or the world of monsters that Windy was able to conjure an army from with the Gate Rune. Even the DS and PSP Suikoden games take place in separate universes than then mainline Suikoden games. So I say Eiyuden takes place in another one of those worlds.

Honestly Eiyuden could be the best Suikoden we ever had. The Studio has no big Publisher like Konami in the neck to cut things out. I think to Eiyuden Chronicles is Suikoden 6..or the Suikoden 3 we deserved😂 But i hope Konami see the Potencial again in the Suikoden Series and gives a Release Date for the Remaster and a Suikoden 6 in the Future..dont forget..they have the Director of Suikoden 5.

Hey I really love the video, so stoked for Hundred Heroes. On an unrelated topic, have you heard or seen anything for “Unicorn Overlord”? It’s slowly becoming my most anticipated game of 2024 next to Eiyuden Chronicle.

Im excited to finally play through the first two via the hd remasters, in prep for Eiyuden chronicle. Eiyuden is looking like it could be a GOAT JRPG based on what we’ve seen so far.

Once again, I agree with you. But, I usually do. Because you make a lot of valid points. The only thing we disagree on this time, is Suikoden 4. I agree about the issues, but it was & still is my 3rd favorite of the series. (after 1 & 2 of course). Maybe because it had a nautical theme; which I'm partial to. In fact, my Fantasy Football League is nautical themed. Lol. It's called the DeadLight League, and all the team names are nautical: Bootstrap Belichick, Springfield Sparrows (as in Jack), etc. So, I was able to brush off the issues of the 4th game because I loved the concept so much. As well as the story. Loved the sea creatures, that you had duels on the deck of your ship, and that the large scale battles were ship battles. I think I might have to play that one again soon...

It took me forever finding the first games. I started With 3 2 was impossible to find and loved them till they died. Newer was willing to give Eiyu llay didn't feel yhe same.

Hello! I agree on the takes mentioned in this video. Personally I rank my Suikoden like this 2>1=5>3>4. Suiko 5 for me being closely or near to the level on how the original creator of the Suikoden franchise envisioned and ticks many of the boxes on why I like Suikoden 2 and 1. Even though 4 is my least favorite, it still holds true that post-Moriyama Suiko games (4 and 5) have advanced/expanded our understanding on what Moriyama has built upon on lores or timelines... Konami have expanded it, be it the runes, the timeline, the nations that was initially introduced and I'm actually quite thankful for the team who carried it well despite the shortcomings. With that said, I still hate Konami for just cutting out the mainline franchise for spin-off titles in the DS and PSP despite me playing the DS ones just to see if it was worthy of being Suiko title. As for me, Eiyuden is its own thing and I'm actually not offended at all if someone calls it "Suikoden 6" because literally, this is a game that is shaping to become a worthy title to be called as "Suikoden 6". As for Suiko 6, I'm not optimistic the Konami will deliver. Happy for Suikoden 1 and 2 Remasters since I love them, but I would like to see remakes of 3 to 5 instead. :D

The fact that this game is being made by THE ORIGINAL DEVS of Suikoden 1-3 is amazing, plus if you check out who they have scoring the music you'll be blown away. This game has some really impressive names tied into its development. I believe Eiyuden Chronicles is going to outshine Suikoden because these Devs are no longer tied down by a major publisher. Sure I'm excited for the remastered Suikoden 1&2 games, but I'm more excited for Eiyuden Chronicles.

For me it's the same. And it just shows how much the fans wanted this game with the kickstarter success. And as a little gift we also get a remaster of suikoden 1 and 2 from Konami, hopefully not at the same time. My favorite list of suikoden: 1. Suikoden 2 2. Suikoden 1 3. Suikoden Tierkreis 4. Suikoden 5 5.Suiikoden 4 6. Suikoden tactics 7. Suikoden 3 8. Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki And Eiyuden is not on the list obviously because i haven't played it yet ;)

I hate to say it, but Konami is likely setting themselves up for failure if they want to relaunch the Suikoden series. With the delay to 2024 that puts the release window around the same time as Eiyuuden Chronicles, which has way more momentum behind it and will be competing against Suikoden.

To be honest, as I have played these games since 1997. I replay them every 2/3 years. The way I look at it, Suikoden 1-3 is main story, 5 is close but since it focuses 10 years before 1, and Georg's story I would consider it a true prequel. 4 was a parody. (the story was all over the place, 100 year before(I mean I guess a prequel but still a parody)and the 4 man fights and other issue with the system. the bland enviroments ect ect. Dont get me wrong it had it moments. Like the Boat and the Navy battles. I still enjoyed it but it didnt 100% feel like a true Suikoden game.) I look at EC:HH as a continuation of 1-3, at least story wise w/o stepping on the originals. Lets look at some of the hints. 1: Galdean Empire - looks and feels like Holy Kingdom of Harmonia and Highland Kingdom from Suikoden 1-3. 2: League of Nations - looks to be a Dunan Kingdom and Toran Region and Zexen (Kinda hinting like S3 a mixed nation of Kingdoms or tribes) 3: Guardians - Kinda gives the vibe of the Grassland tribes with Leknaat and Luc guardians added in. I mean they are the Lens protectors like in S1-3 for the rune protectors. 4: The previous civilization to use the LENS, feels so much like Sindar ancient civilization. Also I feel Yosh could not quite pin point how he wanted to tell Suikoden 3 story (MAYBE PART of the reason why he left toward end of S3 development) so this feel like (He is) trying to do that in a way. The 3 MC's (even though Nowa is considered the Full MC, so most likely will be him the most.) but this is just going by the tibit of info we have. Konami will never get the true vision of Suikoden, due fact it Yosh's game not Konami's. When he left so did the vision of Suikoden.

It doesnt take place in the Suikoden world, but it might as well take part in one of the parallel worlds, like Tierkries did.

It would amazing if they turned it into a series like Suikoden, and each game took place in the same world and there were returning characters and character connections.

I seriously hope Rabbit and Bear could someday buy the IP from Konami so we could get another Suikoden, or a remake with the same quality as Eiyuden instead of just a simple HD remaster, i know that Murayama isn't with us anymore, but i'm pretty sure Rabbit and Bear Studio share the same Vision as him... i mean it is his studio to begin with, also we still have Junko Kawano.

If I had one thing I wish they would prevent in this game is abuse of damage multipliers. That made Suikoden 2-5 so easy to break with runes, skills, and so many characters. But, it's ok, I loved all those games. Just hope they made it harder to abuse or at least make bosses have efficient amount of hit points so the battles last longer if you do abuse it.

Must say that you made a good point, just because Konami would release a game with the titlle of Suikoden 6 doesn´t mean it would be a true Suikoden game, the soul and mind behind the series have left, the company still exist in it´s form but not the actual people behind it!

Suikoden is my favorite game ever, it has a huge place in my heart, and I'm sooo hyped for the eiyuuden chronicles. That and suikoden remasters hd are the only games that i'm desperately waiting for the release...BUT, eiyuuden will NEVER be a true suikoden simply because it's a different story, characters and universe.There's no highlands, no gregminster, no harmonia, falena, no pesmerga, yuber, viki, jane, the fu#@ing hikussak and the sindar people ...and the most important thing there's no 27 true runes (rune-lens, obviously a reminder for them, but NOT them) and they are the most important thing in suiko universe. Suiko fans dream about how the next true runes and their stories would be...nevertheless i'm not saying eiyuuden will be a bad game, in fact, it has the potential to be even better than suikoden 2, who knows, but i just see eiyuuden as an spin off, not an ACTUAL suikoden...so it's better to treat them separately let's wait for the amazing eiyuuden and hope for a suiko 6.. i REALLY need to see more of the true runes, like PLEASE! T.T that way i can erase my fake remaining true runes i had to made by myself 😅

I like 4 and 5. All them 1 to 5 are great. The core or the heart of 100 heroes is suikoden is there . I really hope 100 heroes make alot of money and rabbit and bear can buy suikoden .

I’ve been a backer since day one and I’m not very confident about the current state of the development of this game. My only hope is that is performs well enough to get a sequel. I’d actually like it to be more like final fantasy and some games may have a part 2, but I want a new world and new characters with each installment; just keep the 108 stars what makes every chapter in the chronicles Eiyuden rather than the world.

as for me, it's too extreme to say Eiyuden as Suikoden "parody", but coming from its prequel (Rising) I think it's a good thing for R&B Studios to listen and make sure this Hundred Heroes is ripe when its launch...; again coming from Rising, I think I won't be comparing Hundred Heroes to Suikoden 1 or 2; for me personally, I think Hundred Heroes is the actual Suikoden IV from Murayama's own idea... ✌🏻(peace)

I agree, for myself Eiyuden Chronicle is the true is Suikoden VI. I never hated Suikoden IV, I felt Suikoden III was weaker. I had to wait until 2015 to play it, when I did I had already played both IV and V, so for myself it felt very boring. My raking of the games would be 5>2>4>1>3

A reboot? I have heard Suikoden is loosely based on Water Margin novel. Why would it need a reboot? Unless you believe you are better writers than the first group then we should be going for remaster or remake.

Suikoden 5 was the best, sadly the game hasnt received yet a remaster, wish Suikoden 3-5 would receive remasters for PS5... 1-2 will get them, even it it has been quite about the remasters again for a while...but I guess, Konami is just waiting for Eiyuuden Chronicles HH to get out and how well the game will sell, to see, if its worth it to bring the games out again as remaster...

Couldn't disagree more. Both 4&5 feet more Suikoden than 3 does. 3 feels rushed AF nearly everything about it feels as if minimal thought was put into it. If Konami does go on to make a 6th entry (I personally don't believe they will) I'd trust them to do it justice and I don't think Eiyuden will replace Suikoden simply based off the creators. I think it'll be good maybe even great but highly doubt it'll top Suikoden especially 1,2 & 5.

Eiyuden is NOT Suikoden.

My hope is that Konami brings back Murayama to help them make a S6. I agree with most of what you're saying but unless we see a true sequel with characters like Viktor and Flik and Humphrey... it just isn't going to fully satisfy me. Eiyuden will be it's own thing and it could possibly surpass Suikoden 2, you never know.
