In this video, we will be discussing the topic of whether it is possible to make a full-time income flipping furniture, and why I made the decision to no longer sell my furniture flips. I will share my personal story of my brand, Pretty Distressed, over the past 10 years and how I make my income today. I will also provide insights and advice for those who are considering making furniture flipping a full-time career.

This is the most honest video I've ever seen from a KZfaq creator, it touched my heart because I'm like you a mom who is trying to get a second income out of her talent and I tried selling furniture as a side hussle because I'm creative, I enjoy it and I wanted to save money by buying old furniture and flip it and keep it for my own use then when I was getting bored I would sell it

Another thing you could do is auction or raffle something off and have the money go to charity or a go fund me or someone you know in need. For example, there are so many people out there who need help with a deposit so they can obtain housing. There are tons of families with food insecurity. Imagine being able to gift them a subscription to a healthy meal service.

Can I just say what a decent human being you are? I've watched a bunch of your shorts and I see so many nasty comments, it's crazy. I can't believe how rude people can be sometimes. When I see those I always look to see how you respond, and you respond with grace, dignity, and class. I never see you snap back at anyone. I would imagine after reading so many snide remarks it would have to play on your psyche at least a bit. Anyway, that, combined with your passion for helping those less fortunate and the love and time you show to your children, I would say the world needs more people like you in it. Also, the fact that you're willing to share the secrets to your success also speaks volumes about your character. I wish you continued success in whatever you decide to do in the future. Thank you for sharing your gift with us and for spreading some light in this dark world.

I love this! I’m a sahm too and started flipping when my husband was deployed in 2021 and after my children were asleep. I was flipping maybe three or four pieces a month and bringing in about $1200 every month. I was so proud of myself. But I stopped flipping after finding out that I was pregnant last year and now we have 3 kids and I think that it’ll be a while before I start again. But it was so fun and I was so proud of myself. You and DIY Wife really helped me get through deployment and life these past few years. Thank you for your work!

You have been such a calm reassurance for me in my painting journey. I have done an armoire, 3 chest of drawers, mirror, two huge wall pieces, two dining tables, 2 desks. My home is much more colorful and I needed no new furniture. Next is my king size sleigh headboard and rails. Once I started I could not stop. I still work as a nurse full time but needed this hobby for my mental health. It has worked. I think you may have been the first video I ever watched…the rest is history. Thank you so much Christina!

Thank you so much for explaining that! I’ve always wondered how people make any money doing what they do!! I just guessed that it must be you all make money on the content as much or more than on the talent shown that you have on KZfaq. Hope you continue to do the furniture flips and donate them! Fortunate people if they get any of them!!

My heart dropped when I saw the title and that it was only 7 hours ago. I watched all 23 minutes. And felt such a connection. Yr so real. And yr heart is so big. I love yr motivation. As a newly retired RN, u would have made a great nurse. I sub'd, liked, and commented. Absolutely love you. Thx for the context, I enjoyed hearing yr journey. And I am happy you've found yr path. 😊 Edit: I, too, refurbish furniture. At first, for fun and for myself, then friends and word of mouth. It is like yoga for me. My zone.

I haven't had a job outside my home for over 12 years now. I have always just dabbled in crafty stuff and selling it so I've refinished things in the past but didn't really start until about a year ago. I am still so new to creating videos after a year, there is just so much to learn and being a single mom with no job has been so hard to balance everything. I has been a slow process for me. Hi Christina, that was such a nice presentation on why you do what you do. I completely understand and enjoy your videos and will still watch you. Keep up the great content, it is very helpful. I have end tables, an entry table and a master bedroom set that I am getting ready to tackle for myself, and your tutorials are so supportive and encouraging. Never too much jibber-jabber like on some other channels who just talk, talk, talk about stuff that’s non-related to the project or drag out the refining project. You rock!!!🎉👍🥰

You’ve done so wonderful in such a short time. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos so much and feel like I would be able to do that type of work as I learned a lot from my husband who created such beautiful furniture throughout our home. Everything he made is solid wood or furniture grade plywood. No one taught him. He just “knew” how to do it and I was always helping him when he would make something. I have a complete workshop. I just need to get motivated and get started. I wish he would have taught me more or let me actually use his tools but I think he was afraid I would get my fingers in the way.thank you for showing me that anything is possible.

I've followed you all 10 years! You are who told me about Annie Sloan paint all those years ago! And oh my goodness how our style has changed! It was so lovely to hear your whole story and put it all together. I'm also a new SAHM - it was nice to hear your story there too. xoxox!

Thanks for being so straightforward about your thoughts and business. I feel the exact same way about rescuing pieces and updating them for current use. There are so many useful items at just one Goodwill store. I could keep busy for a lifetime. Why buy new? I learned a lot from your videos. Thank you!

Thanks for being so open and honest (another reason why you are so well loved!). You are so creative and inspiring. I wondered how people made money off of You Tube, Instagram, etc. I find it fascinating that you are still making money off of videos you made several years ago! Don’t care how you make your money because I love watching you and learning from you!

Love this video. I do this like you, because I love it and then I just give it away. It's become an expensive hobby because I don't get reimbursed for any of the paint I use or supplies to fix areas that are broken, but it keeps me off the streets at night 😅

Hi Cristina - ThankU for sharing your story. I really learned alot because I paint and flip furniture just as a side hussle. And it's great for me as a senior citizen to add a little more to my income. I love painting old pieces that I find curbside or given to me and making them pretty and reselling and keeping them out of the landfield. The business part is not for me but I love the painting part to keep for myself or flip. I follow you and wish you continued success. 😊 ThankU for your story!

Hey girl.. you and I were on the flip fb groups together years back! So nice to see you grow. This biz can def be done full time since there’s tons of people who want to commission their pieces. I have always done it as a side gig but if I had the space and time, I would definitely be doing this job seven days a week making lots of money. It depends on your area. It depends on your style. So many things, but clearly with your talents and how beautiful your work is, you could definitely been doing this full-time. But it is overwhelming.!

Omg. Thank you. I love painting, but just can't deal with what it takes to sell. I need to develop income streams, and this is helpful.

Thank you so much. I need all the tips I can get! I just started my journey and even retired from my job of 18 years so that I could devote more time to redoing furniture. I’m not really concentrating in making money yet. I’m just trying to equip myself with the tools that are needed in order to do a good job. Like you, for right now I have been redoing my own furniture and doing some for family and friends just to get the experience. I take before and after pictures and maybe will post them on a Facebook channel that I have already set up. Please continue to share your experience.

ABSOLUTELY I want you to learn more about this from you! You are the first that I sense I can trust about the info you're sharing re building online income streams (doing what you love, that is). Plus, I share your dislike of all the non-creative stuff creatives have to deal with. I would love to know more ... and I'm touched by your generous goodwill 💖

It was because of you I decided to flip furniture after I retired from teaching. You are a great inspiration Christina and I managed to sell every piece on FBM. Things have slowed down now since the cost of living crisis but I still enjoy doing it and it keeps me busy. Family and friends are always asking me to flip old pieces for them so they can enjoy them all over again. I think I watched every video you made so thank you for your time and dedication. You have a beautiful home too. Thank you

Great video. Thank you for being so transparent. You are incredibly talented. I love how you created a career for yourself out of doing things you love. I donate alot to my church for needy families in the community and it is a great feel good factor to it. I would be interested in more videos like these!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I am a 70 year old disabled retired RN. My calling has always been creative ventures whether fine art paintings, sewing, fashion design, interior design, crocheting, and now flipping furniture. I have over the years sold my crafts as a side business, but furniture is my new thing. Being retired it is nice to have that side income to make ends meet. Selling has been difficult but my pieces are moving in the long run and I am not giving up because I believe my talent speaks for itself. My problem is storage space to keep unsold items stored. It keeps me from taking in new pieces that I find very cheap on Marketplace. I also have a partner that has been less than encouraging with my work to the point that I only work on them when he is not home. I really wish he would acknowledge my talent and stop the criticism.
