Many people ask me why I moved to Finland from Japan so I decided to make this video that tells the whole story. I wanted to be honest and genuine about the reasons that brought me here.
*English subtitles available
*The information I'm talking in this video, such as tuition fee, is from before 2016. Please note that some of them have been changed.
Thanks for watching this video! I'm Daiki, originally from Japan. I moved to Finland for my masters degree in business in 2016 and now I'm working in the capital area, Helsinki.
Through this channel I'm hoping to share my experience in Finland and sometimes abroad, including culture, career, lifestyle and travel diaries. I actively share my experience and learnings on Twitter and in my blog. Also, don't forget to subscribe this channel as I upload a video about Finnish culture and Nordic lifestyle EVERY WEEKEND! :)

How funny.. KZfaq recommended this video for me now and the thought of how you ended up coming to Finland by following your intuition is really accurate for me too. I am a Finn, born and raised in Finland, but I have lived in different parts of the world during my adult life (Europe/Middle East/East Africa). I always had an interest and then I let the intuition to lead me where to go. My next destinations will be Korea and Japan, just if I get things working financially. I would like to live in both of the countries for a while. But for me, following my intuition has always taken me to the right places and I have never regretted following it.

Surprisingly your story looks much like mine... I dearly wanted to go to Vancouver but could not then while I was working at my home country I searched for affordable but high quality destinations in Europe... Got rejected in Norway but accepted from 2 universities in Finland... I 'm probably the same age as the period u mentioned about football was the same for me... Also I just followed my intuition when coming to Finland and have no idea wot to do next... I' m trying to enjoy every moment of it... I don't know why we are so similar and why did I find you only one month after coming to Finland... Sounds really canny

You're lucky that you managed to get free education here. That was changed just a few years ago. Now my Japanese SO has to pay thousands of euros per semester to attend a school that is free for EU citizens. Sometimes life isn't fair, but hopefully a working visa and a citizenship will fix this unfortunate situation for us.
@DAIKIFinlandLife
@DAIKIFinlandLife 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it was the last year to get free eduction in Finland for foreigners from outside of EU. It's a bit sad that they changed a policy...but it feels like everything is about timing as well. Yes let's hope those will fix the situation :)
@DAIKIFinlandLife
@DAIKIFinlandLife 3 жыл бұрын
I think it highly depends on your professional area and if you get a lucky opportunity/situation to find a job. It might be easier if you have done education in Finland if you want to find a job and get a working visa but there are companies who hire people based on their skills and experience as long as they speak English. Job hunting is a tricky in Finland especially for international people but at the same time, this country is lack of IT people for example. I know some people who found a job without having lived in Finland so I would say nothing is impossible but it's nice to have some strategy. If you wanna study here, unfortunately it's not free anymore for foreigners but they have scholarship programs instead :)
