I'm a 100% with you on this one the Stock Exhaust sounds Awesome and louder than most, I for Love and it's big reason I got my Sportsman XP 1000 in the first place because a friend got a Sportsman 850 SP and after him showing off all day I had to have one and my dealer only had a 1000 so I got it. Couldn't Love it anymore more.

MBRP exhaust on my '18 850 is a great exhaust and I definitely recommend it.

Cant agree more! I bought a used XP 1000 with a GSE exhaust installed. Sounded AMAZING around the yard but I got a massive headache on my first real ride. Even through my helmet it was unbearable. I switch back to OEM on long rides now.

I just bought a 2021 Sportsman 850 Premium here in Maine.. I have around 6 hours on it and you are absolutely right.. The stock exhaust sounds good and throaty, but it is annoying after a while with a helmet on..The twin cylinder is partly responsible, but still a tad loud. The machine has gobs of power and I am happy otherwise..

Check your spark arrester often , they plug up with the packing in the muffler

I may need to take mine out and see if it anymore power because I know EHS Racing has a video of my Kodiak 700 and it picked up 2 wheel HP by just removing the tip with the spark arrestor. And I think it's illegal to remove it.

I have the Sportsman 850 Premium Trail and I like the way the stock exhaust sounds. However, I wish there was a slip-on option to make it a little quieter when I'm riding it on my property in my neighborhood. It's loud and out of respect for the neighbors would like to quiet it down a little. I found the Silent Rider exhaust but they don't make one specifically for the 850. Any other ideas or options??

Not aware of any quieter then stock exhausts. Would have to be custom made. In 2018 Polaris improved the muffler for more straight thru flow performance. I wounder if a 2017 muffler is any quieter. Thanks for watching!

See a stock exhaust is good on a stock bike. but if you start to mod it fuel programming, adjusting timing, higher comp piston an porting and so on you need a aftermarket exhaust to make those mods work i have a 21 scramber 850 an yes the stock sounds good an im keeping it. an the only person i can hear behind me is a raptor660/700 with aftermarket monster true dual exhaust not even another 850. An i rode those for extended time and never got a headache

The fit, finish and function of aftermarket parts is sometimes junk. OEM manufacturers spend a lot of time developing and refining their products for years. I will say that Big Gun exhaust was a headache to install. It did not fit out of the box what so ever. (watch my install video) i had to heat up the hangers red hot with a torch and bend them and align them better to actually fit my machine properly. And yes i had the correct part #. Just one example...

And if you want more power you should of got the 1000 and not the 850. All that work on a dirt machine is a bit much unless you are looking to race or set records.

What are you going to use for tubing for your snorkels? I’m just like you I don’t want to cut the plastics up and have risers

Am I remembering correctly when you said you would be doing the LED pod light on the 850 to match the low beams? Want to order one for mine but curious if the halo works as a plug and play or if I need to order a separate whip. Thanks.

I put a big gun exhaust on my 2002 660 grizzly and it didn’t fit at all !! Spent hours bending the brackets !! Ended up taking it off !! Too loud and to be honest, it was a junk

Yup my exact experience too. Droned so bad. I needed ibuprofen after long rides cuz i had a migraine

Is taking of the spark Rester bad for it?

No not at all as long as you still have the stock air filter. If you have a K&N or other high flow air filter you will run a lean condition. Which needs a tune to correct AFR. Since it does improve the flow out the exhaust.
