John this video made me impulsed to comment. Your videos years ago in Cincinnati and beyond helped my recovery from full neuropathy. I learned how to walk again. I learned how to write again. I learned how to live again. I discovered andys channel, and myself being one of the few to ask him if he was okay in his falling skateboarder videos. I had the balls to hop on a skateboard for the first time in my mid 30's and immediately broke my wrist lol. And I'm happy. Your positivity was a driving force when I discovered you on KZfaq whilst laying in a hospital bed when I was repeatedly told I would never walk again. Now years later I am ever thankful for your vlogs. Just keep doing you man. Whatever you do, just know you're appreciated in ways you can't imagine. You deserve all the happiness that life can give you. I respect your grind and I can't thank you enough for the positivity you have spread to myself and thousands of others. Keep doing you man. :)

It’s not something you can do professionally throughout adulthood. Bodies get fragile , children need insurance (adults too!), you gotta save for retirement (social security may not exist when you retire, sorry get a 401k). Skateboarding can still be a part of your life but you gotta think about your family and your future.

As an older skateboarder myself (31) I’ve been skating Since age 15 and decided to take a step back from high impact skateboarding When I turned 23 years old. I decided to do this because I wanted to preserve my body and be there for my family when they need me like my aging mother. Skateboarding flatground has been a main thing I do not only because I love it but I can see myself doing flatground for a much longer time than doing high impact skateboarding. So to my people out there who are getting older and got more obligations to family and work remember there’s a lot of fun and longevity in skateboarding flatground!!

The one's that are here to watch your life will always be here John. I found you through skateboarding, but I'm 40 with lots of health problems, so I kinda live vicariously through you and other creators on here. I obviously have my own life, but it's awesome to see how someone else lives, and it doesn't matter if I'm watching you skate, doing interviews, making new businesses and anything else that you film man. I honestly wish you the best and hope you find what it is you're looking for from one father to another. But, if I can give you any small amount of advice as a father, you'll never feel enough, but thats why you get up and do your best for your family every day.

Constantly thinking (and acting towards) how you can provide more for your family, how you can become a more responsible and better dad, how you can do more of your part in the family thing. That is the most non-selfish thing you can do for your loved ones, and you're describing yourself as immature... The word you're looking for my man is not "immature". It's "awesome"! Just don't forget about yourself, you also need to feel good to make others feel good.

I thought that’s what I always wanted, but it truly hit once my son was born. I skate about once a week now which I love, I don’t care about skating as much anymore in a good way. I don’t stress about clips, being good enough, etc. I work full time and workout 4 days a week. About to go back to school and work forward into changing who I am as well. I’ve been watching you since 2015, and had the pleasure to skate with you in California. Videos like this make me stoked because seeing you grow makes me wanna grow and learn also. Proud of you dude. I resonate with this. It's interesting to hear you mention the idea of skateboarding having an income cap. This is something I strongly agree with. Around five years ago, I came across an interview with Rob Dyrdek where he discussed making the bulk of his money outside of skateboarding (and he only lost money within skating). However, it's crucial for all skateboard entrepreneurs to remember that while skateboarding may have its limits in terms of income potential, this shouldn't deter skaters from pursuing their dreams of starting a skate company. On the contrary, it's essential to take the earnings generated from their skate venture and invest them wisely into assets. This approach allows you to continue pursuing your passion for skateboarding (owning a skate shop, skatepark, having a KZfaq channel, etc) while also building up recurring income from ventures outside the skate industry. Mikey Taylor is a perfect example of this strategy, leveraging his income as a pro skater to launch Saint Archer and subsequently venture into real estate. Thanks for creating this video John!

Congratulations for adding a new member to the family. You’re really feeling the pressure and we can all tell that you’ll do everything you can for your family. I honor and appreciate your dedication and insight into your life (even when you advise against sharing beliefs) so thank you for all the videos. But if it ever feels overwhelming and you can’t handle it remember God has our back, fights our battles and gives us peace so you can trust his word.

As a man who has been a skateboarder his whole life but is also a writer, I completely understand, my friend. Serious health concerns forced me from skateboarding, but writing was actually always my calling, and it's been a really nice transition. You have the support, you have the time, and you have the passion. Super excited for our futures, my friend.

No buddy. As a new father at 25. My gf makes more money then I do. But we arent married yet. When we do get married. Her money & my money. BECOMES our money. So if she makes $100k more then you do it makes sense to feel a type of way as a man because naturally we feel we have to be “superior” in some way. But if she loves you for you. Then she wouldn’t let you quit skating which is your passion. I get you wanna “grow up” & be a “big boy” but you have accomplished things that kids DREAM of. Look at roman atwood. Make boat loads of money from having a family & now since he married his girl they have THEIR money together. He isnt “above” or she isnt “below” him at all they are equal. Obv this your life you do you but hey if it dont pay the bills anymore then i get it you gotta pivot. I get it. I love you man you have helped more people then you could possibly imagine. Stay positive. You’re doing fantastic. Take a small break & smoke a J. We all need to one day

Congratulations! I have 3 kids who currently does art as a side job. Way worth it. Career change doesn't have to mean you are giving anything up. Your kid(s) are getting a more well rounded Dad and I'm grateful for all the videos you've given us through the years and im excited for those to come.

So proud of you. I don't know you personally or anything but it's hard to make the call where you acknowledge that the thing your making isn't for the joy of it anymore. Only skate for the love of skating. It makes me happy to see you evolve and continue to find whatever makes you happy while earning your livelihood. Congrats on the new addition to the family! All the best!

Hopefully it works out for ya! Not to be negative here, but I feel like when you change a brands initial identity, it tends to fall off rather than prosper more than the previous subject matter. But you gotta do what feels best for you at the end of the day. Maybe the change will give a much better outlook on life and it could be more successful in the long term, depending on what people grab onto and how big of a talking point and interest the content is.

I went through similar with the birth of my first kid, it's hard but you got this. I'd rather you be healthy and not skating than trying to keep skating and end up not here. ❤

After my son was born. I didn't really have the opportunity to skate often. Yet i love the culture. I still watch skating videos because it has been a big part of my life. I am 42. My son is now 13. I tried to get him into skateboarding. Yet he prefers soccer. So i support whatever he likes.

Dad of 3. Haven't skated in a few years other than some garage tricks. Been watching you for the skating of course, but not exclusively. You're a good dude and fun to watch. God bless. Will still keep an eye on what you're up to.

If you can deal with your responsibilities, there's really no need to "grow up" any more than that. Growing up beyond that is essentially just absorbing more stress and getting nothing but bitterness in return. You must play or that part of you withers away.
