In this video I explain why I returned my recently bought Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K and went back to using my PL converted Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro until I can get my hands on the new PYXIS box cinema camera by Blackmagic Design.

All of the Pocket cameras are capable of taking timecode via the 3.5mm mic input. I use it every day. Just get a timecode cable that terminates to 3.5mm and you’re good to go.

Yes good point. There are external devices that you can use like you say but I think it’s significant that Blackmagic now has a dedicated *lockable* connector. The 3.5mm jack is not a pro connector as far as timecode input is concerned.

Hi that's useful for me. Just wondering when using timecode via 3.5mm mic input, will there still be any scratch audio in camera?

@@leochow6477 Yes, simply go into the audio settings in-camera and choose which source you’d like to use. You can use the built-in mics, or even anthe mini-XLR, provided the Pocket variant your using has that. As soon as you connect a timecode device to the 3.5mm port it will automatically recognize its receiving timecode and jam sync.

I pre- ordered my 6K a few days after it was announced. Now I need to hire a teacher on fiver because I love black magics color science but have been a ProRes and Final Cut Pro user for over a decade. Still. This camera and its form factor, riggability, and Blackmagic raw. I sold my Ronin 4D for it instead of keeping the 4D and having the LUMIX S5 IIX as a B camera. I hope and pray I will get familiar with Davinci Resolve.

Honestly there are so many tutorials on KZfaq you can learn everything. Forget fiverr 😂. I learned a lot of stuff off KZfaq as well. I also was on FCP X but when I got my license from my 4K I made the total switch and if was the best move ever.. Good luck. I’m Sure you’ll smash it

@@ODHunte Thank you so much for reassuring me, friend. I am excited to work with a RAW workflow, especially at the PYXIS price point. But I nervous and confident at the same time about a new NLE. I know I will improve over time, but the familiar Final Cut Pro will certainly have to do for quicker turnaround projects. But I will try 😂

Great points! Yes, I have Pyxis L-mount on preorder. I'll be using it with NiSi Athena Primes.

Wicked ! Hope you get it soon! I also ordered the L mount so I can adapt it to PL with a rear VND. What do you like most about those lenses?

@@ODHunte Clean and neutral color, consistent color across lens changes, minimal focus breathing, lenses are all the same weight so no rebalancing in rigs needed, and drop-in blade option.
