Why sell such a lovely and hard to get watch? Why move on from such a stunner from one of the 'Big Three' brands?
I say, why not? I've enjoyed my experience and now it is time for more :)

That’s the reason why ADs are becoming more and more picky in terms of customers. It’s full of people who buy watches with no love for the brand whatsoever and then just resell them probably with a profit. I was so excited after your review, I really thought you were a true and passionate watch lover. Very disappointing.

Translation: you need to keep cranking out more videos to keep your channel going, and you've decided that you've wrung as much content from the Overseas as you're going to. Also selling the watch and using the proceeds to buy other watches will provide more video fodder. To each their own, but I understand that you jumped the line at the dealer where you bought the Overseas, in front of people with more of a purchase history who would have kept the watch. And given the increase in popularity of the watch and Vacheron's move to a boutique-only distributionfor that particular model, some of the people who have been waiting may not be able to get the watch from that dealer at all. All of this to say that you've burned some bridges in certain corners, which if you continue to do so, will impact your viewership in the long run. I for one am unsubscribing and hiding your channel from my feed.

This is all about buying and selling new watches to continue pumping out new content. I don't see how it's been so difficult for people to pick up on that. Instead of buying a few 7k - 15k luxury watches and being stuck with them and making occasional wear update videos , why not introduce a revolving door system of constantly buying and selling new watches allowing you to continue to pump out new content of new luxury watches and grow your channel. I have a feeling that was the main factor in his decision. It allows him to continue to pump out new content and not go broke doing it. He's gone from being a true watch collector to now more of a media content creation guy that just appreciates watches and makes review content on watches. Nothing wrong with that, but I believe that is the true driver of the whole " I collect watch experiences, not watches". I could be completely wrong but just my 2 cents.

On the other hand, if I kept all those watches, my collection would be 20, which would for me be unmanageable, so there is no right answer in keeping and selling watches. If you keep a watch for years and then sell it that isn’t “flipping”... flipping is buying with no intention of keeping. Buying just to sell immediately for profit. Like house flipping. If you buy a house and live in it for years and then sell it that isn’t consider house flipping.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, it’s coming from a place of admiration for your content and for your enthusiasm. I follow your channel for a long time and every time you sell a timepiece you have passionately owned it’s really disappointing. I understand your explanation. You had your experience with it and it’s time to move on, try different things, even fund the next watch (we all know this hobby is not cheap) and I think that hoarding watches is not the way to go. I got why you sold most watches to keep those three. But this one, after a few months, the lust, the build up, the exposure to the enthusiasm of owning it. I’m not going as far as to side you with the professional flippers that are spoiling the fun for enthusiasts. I know you are straightforward with AD’s and you are a great guy, no doubt. It could be that I’m jealous for not being able to sell watches I lusted after and finally got. Honest thoughts from a fan. And hey, it’ll be a lot of fun to see what you get next.

Getting rid of a watch like the VC seems crazy? Other than your wife telling you it is her versus the VC, I just don’t get it. Most of us can’t afford to ever get a VC or whatever watch is their grail watch. For you to have it in your hands, and get rid of it after only 8-12 months just seems unbelievable. Also to trade a VC for a Santos is not an equal trade by any stretch of the imagination. Oh well…

You pose a good question.. or at least the idea of not having a grail or keeper comes up. I mean what does it mean when I keep rebuying basically the same model over and over again? Is it an experience I like to have from time to time? Or should it be acknowledged maybe this should be the watch I actually keep ( cuz it keeps coming back) and I can move onto trying other things? The there are certain watches I feel I know are really good, most people that have them tend to keep them, and maybe I should too. There is not exactly a good reason to let go of a piece. However, sometimes I come up with reasons to do so only to make room for another watch.. I guess maybe those are watch experience pieces and not keepers. Idk, can we ride the fine line and have both watch experiences that come and go AND keepers? As for you, forever onwards and upwards.
