I am considering to try home care nursing but this video came out in my recommendations. My questions were just answered upfront. Thanks! I'll have to continue working in the hospital

I co sign everything you say in this video! I did home health as well and it’s a NO for me. That Oasis and traffic, along with the social issues. Too much.

I recently left my full time position as an Rn case manager for a skilled medicare agency. You are spot on regarding the extensive charting, unpredictable working conditions ( hoarding situations, cock roaches, bed bugs ), providers can be difficult to reach requiring a lot of followup phone calls.

Honestly, there are pros and cons in home health and bedside nursing. I never had an issue getting in contact with a physician, their on call staff or my clinical manager ever. At any agency, they have answered any hour. I also value that I could help a patient coordinate getting a new wheelchair, helping a teen gun shot victim go to Disney with their family or even build a ramp for a young ALS patient. I never discount my work as a home health nurse. A nursing instructor once told me, you’re going to see a lot of patients don’t live in the same homes you do. You need to separate that and know they need care too. Sometimes it takes a bit to find that sweet spot (in any job really.) I will say one of my best was home health/hospice owned by a RN so you know she advocated for her workers. I’ve been a nurse for 14 years. I’ve seen the good, bad and the ugly. I hear ya, if it’s not safe or not a good fit (been there) you can decline. Pay is also important. But don’t lose hope, there are some great ones. I left Orlando because they would make you commute and it’s just a very commute dependent place and I got sick of driving..but if you give yourself a chance, you might find an awesome city that pays respectfully and won’t take advantage of you.

I just interviewed with a company that pays hourly including travel. The hourly rate did include charting. They also compensated 58 cents a mile for travel. However the pay was not as much as your pay. The pay for a new grad LPN was $31 an hour

I do believe that company ruined your experience. I work as an aide for a company and all the nurses says they get compensated until the last chart in completed. And their miles are being track on the ipad they were provided.

I am with a very good company and am compensated for mileage, charting, time spent on case management, calls to providers and any office time I use. If I open my appointment afterwards and complete my charting, I am compensated...unless it is an exorbitant amount of time spent, then the office manager will decide how much time should be legitimately compensated. I do know this differs per company, but ALSO depending which coastline. I am West Coast and nurses here get paid quite a bit more than many states on the East Coast from what friends over there have told me. Home Health here starts at $30/hour for LVN and more DOE for RNs

Home health RN, we are salary but all our visits are weighted with a number of pts, SOC 2.5, sn11 1, ROC 2, DC 1.5. As an RN 35 hrs is salary and to be productive we need 30pts a week. Each additional pt is extra money. We are reimbursed miles every week. Each 100 miles is an additional pt

Please what state is paying $60 for home health?

Definitely you’re totally right, at least for me even have had periods when I was asking for the actual POC because the notes they sent to me were already due. Patients that are siblings they pay for them about 5 more dollars, saying Medicaid pay for them less money on home health, 😱
