I get asked a lot why I track my car on bags so here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons to airlift!

The main difference between coils and bags is the rate. Coils are contant rate in itself and can be slightly rising depending on the geometry of the suspension. Bags on the other hand are always rising and because you compress air, the rate is actually exponential which makes them really bad for absorbing big bumps. They are mainly used because it's easy to adjust on the fly. Loaded truck vs unloaded, height ajustements, touring snowmobiles have them for switching quickly from riding solo to having a passenger, just a few examples.

I drive an Audi A4 avant on airlift 3p which i autocross and drive spiritedly drive on the road and I have the same sentiments as you, decent ride/performance in the front but the rear always feels unsettled and bouncy no matter how i change the dampening. granted the car has a divorced setup in the rear (bag is separate from damper) but it seems it is just a air suspension issue. I would definitely go back to coilovers just for the driving aspect but I really appreciate the flexibility of air suspension since it's my only car.

maybe check out those coilovers that have air cups! coilover handling with a couple inch lift in the front for clearance. might be the best of both worlds 🤷

I used dragy lap, I like racechrono a lot better

it's sort of hard to compare. racechrono has been in development for like 10+ years and dragy lap has maybe a year or so behind it?

@@dadhats I only tried it because I already had a dragy. And it sucks that the dragy gps is closed source.
