Bro, somebody told me that, and it changed everything. I try to stay in the present as much as I can. Doesn't mean i don't think about the past or the future. Just when I catch myself, I realign myself back to present. As human beings, we have a default setting to always think about what has happened to us (past) or what we want or not want to happen to us (future). We are rarely thinking about the right now. And that's where the magic happens.

I left my last job with that same notion and they tried to act like they couldn't pay me my leftover vacation because I didnt put in 2 week notice. I called BS on that and they still paid me. I still left on good terms. I left and went to the Philippines for 6 months. Now I've come back to the US and got rehired back to the same job lol. It's a remote job working for DoD. After having the retirement experience in the Philippines I hate being a slave to a clock but I appreciate being able to get my money back up. I feel like quitting job again after being back but I already created my own timeline. Saving and investing money again

Its hard to explain to people that this country is awesome. I've noticed a lot of Dominicans who left early in their life think DR is the same country they left. It's not totally true. Some areas are. But cities like Santo Domingo, Santiago, and Punta Cana have some of very modern amenities and lifestyle. I can be sitting in the middle of Piantini and look around and you could not tell that you are in the DR. You could be sitting in any Metropolitan city in the States.

I remember when your wife interviewed you for the first time, I told mine that I feel like listening to myself... And this video right here is the same, I really feel like it is me taking... I think the exact same way, pretty much the same motivation. But I think I am a bit more extreme, I remember once I had an offer for a full time job and at the same time I found an interim job... I choses the interim job over the stable full time job because I hate being tied to a company in a particular place... I love freedom. I even chosed to do Uber eat delivery over another stable offer because I want to keep my freedom of owning my schedule. Now I am making a video game for PC because know that once the game is released , I do not have to be at a specific place for money to come in, no headache for restocking, nothing... My plan is to release the game and if it does well, move out of the country few months later because I will still get paid and can keep creating games elsewhere because all I need is my computer
@JayAbroad
@JayAbroad 3 ай бұрын
That's was a little more extreme 😅. However, I did purposely turn down higher paying HR Manager jobs just to do HR recruiting because I only want to be responsible for myself and not others. Because I wasn't interested in coming early or staying late I wanted to do my 8 hours and go home to work on my business. Congrats on thr video game, I pray it does well so you can follow thru with your plans.

THIS!! And it's funny how the universe works. I quit a toxic job about 7 months ago, with the intent on freelancing. I got one client that I did work for free to get my name out there. However, my freelancing website attracted a startup company; I interviewed with them and got a job with them. They are paying me $80,000/year. And their only ask of my time is that I attend our daily meeting at 8am each day, and put in 40 hours. They said they don't care where in the world I work, as long as I don't miss that meeting. I love the work and it is the same as what I was freelancing for....this is God handing me my opportunity. My plan is to sell my house and get to Mexico (I'm in the US) or somewhere in South America and break free!

Brother, that is how it works. Doesn't surprise me at all. Congratulations. $80k in the US is considered middle class in major cities. Go to another country with that you in the top 10% or 1% depending on the country. BTW...as long as you attending them meeting wherever you want near the beach, a cafe, sports bar, your couch, your pool, then attend them all day..lol!

Thank you very much for your candor. Yesterday was my last day on the clock. I've only been at this job for 6 months but it has been a waste of my 6 months! I was contracted with an insurance broker last July and my contract was canceled after 6 months. Why? Because I had to dedicate my energy towards training for this job and then working third shift to perform for them, but couldn't do anything for myself! I was not making enough money to sustain myself. I'll be 62 years old in 2 days and have nothing to show for it or retire on - so I HAD to quit. I'm going to apply for my Social Security early which is not much, but it is enough to live on in the Dominican Republic and call it my base pay as I sale health, life, and LTC back in the USA, remotely, from the DR 🤑

I understand full well what you mean about those corporate, common everyday sayings. That goodness it's Friday, payday Friday (I use that one), hump day Wednesday etc. etc. I'm from Bama I've heard you say you are as well so Jay you forgot the most popular one. The guy from 2020 and the one from today look like two different person. 🇩🇴 is the best country on earth. I 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 you and your wife to make the smartest decision to move to the 🇩🇴. A few years ago I said to myself. People work 5 or 6 days a week. Have one or two days off and then go back to work. They will take vacation maybe once a year. And they do this routine for 30-40 or even more. I said this is so boring, is the new slavery. I said this is not healthy and good life. People spent most of their time working, because when they get home, they have no time to do anything because they have to prepare themselves for the next day. The healthy lifestyle that you guys are living worth millions and it cannot be exchange for anything.
