I recently just learned what gender disappointment is and didn't like how it sounded when reading those 2 words next to each other. But, before I explain this I wanna thank Hellofresh for sponsoring today's video. Make sure to use my code HELLOCED16 for 16 free meals across 7 boxes plus free shipping and 3 surprise gifts! bit.ly/3NOmO1q
Gender disappointment was not what I experienced but being disappointed was. This is what I'll explain in the video while also sharing us surprising the girls they are having a little sister.
Much love,
Ced

Ced, dealing with the death of my mother this week but I’ve been watching you and Charlotte. I saw the recent video and when the sex of the child was revealed, I thought I heard Charlotte say, I’m sorry. WHAT!!?? why would she feel compelled to say that? I know completely that life has no assurances. The day before I lost my mom, I was going to buy her items for her living room and she had an appointment scheduled with a neurologist. It doesn’t matter now. For you Ced… it doesn’t matter bro, it doesn’t matter. Healthy, productive children that give back more to the world than they take out.. that’s important.

I’m so sorry to hear you lost your mother bro. I hope you are finding closure and healing and I’ll be praying that for you. I believe Charlotte said sorry because she knew I had a strong desire to have a boy not because she felt like she did anything wrong. For me, it does matter that I want to have boy. It’s something I wish to have but doesn’t mean It’ll happen and the more honest I am with myself about it the better for me. Appreciate the comment brethren and I’ll genuinely be praying for you. Much love ❤️

I work in Canada for CPS essentially (we call it something else here). Your girls are so fortunate to have you both as parents. Ced, if a boy isn't in the cards for your family in the future I can assure you there are programs in your community where you be the shining star of mentorship for boys and young men whose lives you would most definitely impact in an extremely profound way. You're already doing that for men who watch you in this forum and I know with your heart, creative mind and trust in God anything is possible.

I was just thinking the very same thing! And even if he doesn’t go with a mentorship program - which I think would be a great shame- he is still going to have an impact (outside of his awesome KZfaq channel) on all of the boys that will be in his daughters lives over years. Class mates, team mates, neighbourhood kids, birthday parties etc etc it might even go unnoticed by most himself included but I guarantee all of the kids, boys or girls, will register in one way or another that there is something different about him, they will see or feel his pure heart even if they don’t know to call it that. And they will want to be around him and be like him.

There’s no stigma if a woman wants to have a daughter. So why should there be one if a man wants a son? It’s not unusual or uncommon to want that. That doesn’t change the love you have for your girls. You’re a good father and husband. If you never have a son and you wish to do so, you can still mentor or coach boys who don’t have fathers and still help in the process of raising good men. Congratulations on baby girl 3!

As daughter number three there was a pressure on my parents to keep trying until they had a boy. My parents were set on three girls and were done having babies HOWEVER my brother was born a short year after I was. Just know that if this last baby is your last the next best thing will be when they get married and you have their spouses and then their children. You are a phenomenal dad to your babies and they are so incredibly lucky to have you.

I feel every bit of this. I’m 20 years out from having my last baby, but… I’m a mom of boys and when I found out this baby was a boy and I knew he was going to be my last my emotions really went through it. I felt guilty for having them, but I didn’t hide it. I cried and I was sad. My husband let me be sad. He didn’t tell me I was crazy or that it was abnormal. I mean I obviously loved my two little boys and this new baby, but there was just a finality to the fact that I wasn’t going to be a mom to a girl. My husband actually bought me a book called “OhBoy, OHBoy, OHBoy!!!”. It was written by a mom that had three boys. It was so funny that I died laughing, but that only happened after I stopped rereading the first chapter of the book which honestly took me a few weeks. The first chapter was about grieving… grieving the loss of the daughter she was never going to have. Letting go of all the plans we make in our heads for this thing we imagine is going to happen. I cried an ugly cry every time I read it. I was grieving and it needed to be done. My husband was horrified that this book he bought which was meant to make laugh and find my happiness again about bringing new life in to the world had actually made me more sad. The book actually did the job he intended because once I moved passed the 1st chapter I couldn’t stop laughing. Boys are hoot. I’ve enjoyed being a boy mom. Although, the other day I was talking to my husband about something that must have been related to having kids and I made the statement that sometimes I still feel a little sad about never getting the opportunity to be a “girl” mom. He looked at me and said I know and I wanted that for you too, but have you seen how hard it is out there for girls today. He’s not wrong, but the world is crazy for everyone. Sorry for the long response but apparently I needed to get it out. So as a mom to boys now in young adulthood figuring out life I find myself daydreaming about their future wives who I sincerely hope to bring into my life like the daughters I never had. I have such a wonderful relation with MIL. Fingers crossed that when grand babies start I get a granddaughter. I say all this to you because, while it is more acceptable by societal norms for me as a woman to have had these feelings, you are also allowed to too! Just process and grieve if you need to. It’s healthy and ok. It also doesn’t mean you love your little girls any less. Love for them and sadness for what might not be can exist together.

My goodness this is my husband and I in reverse especially that part about never getting to be a girl mom (insert boy dad/having a son). It resonates with me as the mom because we BOTH wanted a son as our 3rd child. After 2 miscarriages at various parts of our conceiving journey (I don't know what else to call it; I don't mean IVF), the last pregnancy was different in every way so I knew it had to be a boy. Wrong. I cried so hard when we learned we were having ANOTHER daughter 😢. Fast forward to the near death experience delivering our 3rd child (emergency C-section at 32 weeks, baby had no heartbeat and wasn't breathing). I knew from that high-risk pregnancy that my emotions couldn't handle another pregnancy. However, I was willing to sacrifice in the hopes a 4th child would be a son. No more pregnancies, but even 10 years later my husband hasn't fully healed from not having a son. I feel you 100% in that maybe if any of our daughters get married I'll have the ability to love a son as if he were my own. Thank YOU for your raw feelings and emotions of your experience and your husband's thoughts ❤

Normally, you hear men say to carry the last name. You can always adopt a child to instill these values into. There is still hope yet brother! I went through this exact same rollercoaster, found out my third one was a girl and I cried like a baby because of how badly I wanted a son 😂. I resonate with a lot of your reasoning as to why you wanted to have a son, that was my thought process too. Eventually I came round to the idea of being a ‘girl dad’ until one day my wife told me we were expecting again 😭. I went as far as choosing girl names ahead of time because I just wasn’t going to go through that cycle of anticipation again. Long story short, we found out the gender and it was a boy 🥹 (conceived during the peak of the pandemic). Your story is still being written! Much love to you guys ♥️🙏🏾

Awww Ced, this was such a beautiful and honest response as to why you wanted a son. I know that we all wanted you to have a son because it's like "every man wants/needs a son," but I've never ever heard a man say he wanted to raise another good man. It was a different perspective that was honestly refreshing to hear but I know we all can't wait until your newest angel comes to you. I believe your desire is there because it's God's desire for you to have that son and He will fulfill that for you, it just might take awhile. It may be the 4th (or 5th hehe) baby. You have the perfect spirit, insight, and perspective for your daughters and as you said -- they are helping to equip you in what it will take for you to raise your son. Continue to trust God's timing and His plan! I'm so so happy for you guys and I'm excited for baby girl's birth!! 💙 much love!!

Hi Ced you are an amazing husband and father. You are right by having your little ladies they get to see how a man should love and treat a woman. They get to see mommy and daddy work as a team and also life is not perfect there will be ups and downs but as a family you work together always. Nothing wrong with your desire to have a son by having one is a different kind of legacy. The bond between a father and daughter are different but still a bond of love. Keep doing what you do. You are still growing and evolving. Thank you for being real, authentic and sharing your journey with us. Much love ❤️

You know what Ced? I really appreciate this! I’m the oldest of 4 and my youngest sibling is a boy. He is a joy!! My husband has two girls already and we both have a strong desire to raise a boy. I’m not pregnant yet but I have realized that I can have that desire but still ADORE having a daughter. Two things can exist at the same time. Hubby and I are willing to even volunteer locally to give young boys support… I enjoy this platform and I will pray for God’s continued blessing.

As a man while I was young and in college I learned a lot about myself and what it took to be the young man my dad wanted me to be. But when I had my first child which was a daughter it made me realize my purpose in life and what I was supposed to do first, I needed to understand the essence of being a good father. And I think having a daughter first made me understand all of my emotions to raise my son. And to teach him all the emotions of what a man has because I was that representation of a man for him and I needed all of my emotions to teach him. Also the movie Moonlight was great. I too was very lucky to have my father in my life for all 53 years before he passed. And when he passed my mom said to me, “you should feel blessed not sad because you had him in your life for a long time, and in our neighborhood you were the only one to have a dad”.

Good morning my favorite family, 1st things first, CONGRATULATIONS to you both for your new baby girl blessing that's on the way. You choose to being completely open and honest with us. I watch to listen, laugh, cry, understand, and learn. I totally understand what you're saying and with much respect it's how you truly feel. I know for sure lots of men in your situation feels the same way. My son who's in a relationship with a young women for over 8 years who have two girls felt the same exact way that's helping her raise her girls. When they were expecting their first child together, they both were in high hope of a BOY, heck we all were. So the pressure was on which so not fair at all. We all had to Stop and realizing it's not up to us period. It's like playing the mega million, no one knows who's going to have the winning ticket until numbers are reveled. It's always been clear to me, you love your role of being a Girl DAD. You and Charlette makes beautiful girl babies. Each one looks like you both. It's natural for you to want a boy who would reflect YOU because you already know what that's like. I think your meanings for wanting a SON is beautiful and a normal emotion to have. You have to raise Girls differently then Boy's because they are different. You heard the saying a woman can't raise a boy to be a man. You have to already know you are very blessed to be in this position your in. You are already raising boy's to be Strong, Black Men with the content you share to the world. There are men who are young fathers with son's and daughters who watch your video's who wasn't blessed with father's in their home. Because of YOU, you are doing just that with each message you put out to the world for us to see. You may not have your heavenly son here to experience all that with but he's watching with much smiles, his father do what he does Best. You are an Awesome Girl dad, and mostly your already a Boy day. Continue to be organically YOU. As your family continues growing, you will have that honor of having a Son in GOD's time. Take Care and continue to be forever blessed. Love you guys.

Thank you for your transparency as always. I think I’m reminded of when you say Desires in our hearts, I do believe the Lord here’s us it’s just about his timing and being able to sit in what he’s blessed us with already. For me I dreamt years ago I had twins and honestly I had let go of that thinking it’s not what Gos has for me. But then after you speaking about a desire for a boy, My perspective changed to hold on to Gods promises and when he’s ready that desire will come a reality. May not look like how I imagine (meaning I might not birth them myself) but he’s faithful and just and keeps his word. Thank you Ced again for the reminder, you ministered to my heart indeed.

Wow , I really liked this video. I feel like God blesses us and gives us what He thinks is best for us. I have two boys and my heart dropped when I found out I was having another boy because I wanted a girl. It’s ok to be disappointed, I loved your outlook you took your disappointment and handled it so well. I appreciate your honestly and transparency. That moonlight discussion about fatherhood even though I’m not a dad I felt that. It’s so wonderful to see parents who are not just having kids who accept their role and take it seriously. God bless you and your family. Wishing you and the family the best ❤️

I'm so in awe at the man you are! My daughters dad left her at 2 years old and then at 10 years old told people she died to get out of work. It sickens me that someone could that far about their own child. But to him he's never been in her life. I have been a single mother for 20 years and i never dated around because i did not want her to get hurt or myself. So it was me and her against the world and i loved every minute of it. Seriously more men need to be like you. You have a beautiful family!

Thank you for being Humble, Open & Transparent about this!!! Definitely happens more often than it being talked about. We already have a girl & my husband is praying that this baby is a boy…. Lol! I told him I have a feeling its another girl, but I would be happy either way! He will be too. Just that all our pets and us are girls, so he feels out numbered, haha! But he will be happy if its a girl too. He’s been through so much with his dad where it was mainly negative throughout his childhood & he wants to break that cycle whenever we have a son. So I totally understand why you want a son as well.

I want to validate your feelings Ced, it’s completely understandable & normal to feel how you feel. I’m a boy mom & always have those thoughts of how I could raise a daughter to navigate this world. However when I delivered my boys and saw those precious faces, I knew even if I could’ve rewinded time & chose a girl I wouldn’t. I love what I was given too much. Prayerfully one day you’ll get your son, or a son-in-law that you can impact in a great way. Congratulations again to your family, God bless!!

Ced, thanks for being so honest. I know this is tough for you and I can understand your desire for wanting a boy. I could tell you were there but weren’t there at the stadium when you kicked the ball. I really wanted you guys to have a boy because it would be a beautiful experience yall haven’t had. Keep your head up, Ced! My dad is a girl dad, 3 daughters to be exact and he loves us but I know he always wanted a son and that’s okay I never have doubted his love for me because he had a desire for a son. AND is important. We are made to think that we have to be on one side of anything. The truth is, there are often more than one truth. You can be excited and grieved at the same time. I was extremely sad that I lost my mom and she wasn't going to be with me when I had my daughter AND overwhelmingly eager to meet my daughter sitting in the same hospital bed. Crying and smiling. Life is just that way and that's OK.
