One more issue you haven't mentioned is privacy of people, in GPS based charges Govt can misuse your personal data like your location. Why should any government track citizens. In that we India will also start becoming a surveillance state like China.

So instead of GPS based the best solution is to keep these RFID counters at every entry and exit of highway, same fastag can be used to record entry and exit and calculate the distance of highway used and charge based in that.....anyway all highways have side barricades now. .... 24 hrs highway patrol are already there they can conduct daily inspection to look if anyone has broken a barricade. This way it is advantageous for all... Try making a video on this.....GPS is a threat to privacy. If someone hacks the system they can track your every movement even outside highway.

@@jaintanuj it doesn't share your data to the Govt, and also you can switch of your phone's GPS manually. It is not mandatory to keep your GPS on in your mobile phone.

The device will be dependent on cell tower to transmit the location, there are many places on highways where cell towers are not available, so the device wont be able to track there. 2). As mentioned by the maker of video that GPS devices can be turned off by some modification and it is not possible for authorities to keep a check on every device. Whether it is functioning properly or not. 3). The other problem will be faced on the server side where, since the devices will be continously sending there location data, imagine a scenario where millions of devices are sending signal at the same time, if the server doesn't has enough bandwidth, this will result in the same situation that you face while booking a tatkal ticket on irctc at 10 am. 4). A gps device that transmits signal via GSM will atleast cost 5000. There are more if we get into details but the biggest would be the cost concern of overall infrastructure required for the implementation of such system. Camera tracking is a proven technology currently in use in many countries, and the cost of implementation of that would be way lesser than the GPS system being proposed. Also if the GPS system fails,a ll the money spent in that will be in vain. It's not bad to implement technological innovations but using hi tech solutions where low end budget solutions can work is not wise. UPI became success because we all have phone and all we need is to download and app and scan QR, POS terminal(card swipe) only remained at malls and larger shops because it required a swipe machine.

@@ashok_chandra that's not true! Location by phone is still only approximate via cell phone network not accurate like GPS and you still have control over what apps can have access to your location. By having GPS installed in the car you lose that control and anyone can get access to your GPS by hacking and you already gave your accurate location information to government.

Just try using masked Aadhaar to avail services like internet, gas or phone connection. Even half a day would not be enought to explain the uninformed masses and you'll end up either sharing your original Aadhaar or return without any success.

and even though we provide masked aadhar than too the contents are readilly available to govt and hackers for their use.Govt security system for such data is loose and one can find this data on dark web.

@@dogeimations9255 I paid 400rs toll once because I took a wrong turn and got onto a controlled expressway. Similarly many people loose money when their exit is just after a toll booth. Privacy is an issue that must have been faced by other countries as well. Plus side is that with GPS tech, vehicle speed can also be monitored.
