Compared to other metals or materials we use it is still rare. There are metals even more rare that have value but it’s not practical to adopt as a popular currency. When you see gold all in one place like a reserve it looks like a lot. If you seen a room with as much steel or copper we could find it would be much more massive. When mining for gold you don’t get a lot at a time like steel or copper or other metals. The world has been mining for gold for 1000’s and 1000’s of years so we have accumulated a decent amount over time, didn’t happen over night. Also it makes for a great currency as a metal because of eye appeal, being soft and easy to manage, doesn’t ever corrode like other metals and rarity, yet not too rare like some metals, so it has “liquidation” if a country needs it. Where as some metals are so rare and used in industry that they are not liquidated easily, so not a good form of money to back up our currency. Especially if a country needed it fast. Also at the end of the day we need something to call our “physical money” next to our paper money, a insurance policy that is practical and durable, and metals are durable, other things are not durable or storable like food and other things we used in history as money. Metals that are not rare like steel, copper, nickel etc are out of the question because we have a lot and corrode. You need a metal that is rare but not too rare and lasting so there’s enough to go around and be liquidated easy. And also the yellow gold color in itself is a rare color for metals and eye appealing as there are more chrome colored metals in the world. Not saying silver isn’t good either as it is also more rare and better looking then most metals of silvery color and the best conductor of electricity. Gold doesn’t get used a whole bunch in industry which is kinda perfect as well. It still has a need but not to the point where it’s all going there.

The idea that Diamonds are 'rare and valuable' is a myth created by the Jewelry Industry in the late 1800s and early 1900s by the DeBeers company, who started the notion that every bride should have a diamond engagement ring and that ring should cost one months salary. Diamonds themselves, however, are not rare, they're actually pretty abundant, there's a whole national park in the states where you could break open a large rock on the ground and find diamonds. But that's an exception, most diamonds are just hard to get too.

Imagine if gold were more common throughout the world. There is no such thing as credit cards, bank accounts, or banking institutions, and we simply rely on gold coins as a means of exchange. The world would look so drastically different, many problems of the real world would not exist to the same extent. Society does not have to have an economic system that we see in this world. Everyone can do whatever they want to do while the byproduct of that would be more gold to use as money. We would not have to live like slaves to the capitalist economy, earning money by doing things that we hate or would rather not spend time doing. Everyone contributes their own productivity to the society as a whole. This would bring a more socialized atmosphere to the inhabitants of this society, where everyone shares cultural and social standards without a legal system. There would be no hierarchy or governments, everyone is equal and has an equal voice in the society. Technology may exist but not destroy the natural world to the extent of a capitalistic world. If there would be injustice, the inhabitants will punish those who break the social order by social sanctions thus decapitating the unjust behaviour. The world would be a much more freer and healthier society, where life is a blissful reality and fulfilling life. There is no need for extreme greed or mass conflict, life may actually feel like it’s worth living for. Everyone would be happier and socially connected with each other, there would be no need to fight for resources and everyone would have equal rights to the basic needs of life. In conclusion, in a world without digital money or banknotes, but a world that is more abundant in gold to the extent that it can be used as a form of currency like the ancient times of the real world, we wouldn’t have to make a living doing something we genuinely hate and waste our lives doing.

Emperors picked it as a way of imposing poll taxes cheaply. You take control of the mines, churn out standardized coins with your seal on them and demand your subjects pay their taxes in these coins, forcing people to give whatever they have in exchange for them in order to pay taxes and not be enslaved or crucified. The coins don`t rot, and people can`t just strike their own for lack of both materials and technology. Voila, whoever you give your fancy coins to can now get access to whatever they want, anywhere in your empire: Just give those little golden suckers to your troops and you don`t have to worry about supplying armies any more. That is why coins became the basis for economic life.

Because there isn't enough gold in existence, it's unstable and has much better things to be used for. Dept is a much better system. The main bank/government 'guess' how much it's people are worth in the world. They then loan the banks money, who then loan the people money, at interest, to pursue their goals, develop their ideas (or other peoples goals, ideas). Those ideas become of a much greater wealth (because we believe in progressivism) than the initial loan, covering the interest and the ideas that fail. The problem begins when nations of people take more in worth than they can give back. National Debt is often used as a scare tactic when in actuality a nation not in debt to itself or the world, would be bad, it would show a lack of trust, investment into it's people. It creates a huge stagnate in growth. There would be no investment, we'd have to wait years to earn what was needed. So with all that in mind. The current currency of any nation using 'Fiat' is based on it's people and what they can generate in wealth for the world. If they all become lazy, uneducated fools with nothing to offer, interested only in self greed, the nation will crumble under it's own debt. This is the best currency possible, not the, lets see who can get the most gold out of the ground.

People think that our paper currency is baseless, and they think that gold is REAL, but, in fact, what debases the currency is USURY/LENDING. This is explained nicely in a doco called Bitcoin, the end of Money. Say you live in a world where gold is your currency. You pile up $500K of it in your living room, so you feel a bit vulnerable. The reality is that whatever you use as a currency has value, so if you stockpile it, you aren't using it, and people can raid your house. So, what do you do? You pay someone to hold it in a vault for you. Pretty soon, the guy with the vault has a large pile of it, that just sits there. So, he says to you: "I can lend this out and get 10% interest for you. That will cover your 3% holding charge nicely." You say OK. So, 95% of the pile of gold gets lent out at 15%, and you have a nice little earner. Whoever you lent the gold to, now has a pile of gold, that he has to put somewhere. He puts it in another vault. Guess what happens to 95% of the money in that vault? Pretty soon, the gold that you put in a vault has gone over the horizon, and been lent out 20 times. You can never get it back, because you lent it.

The important thing in the practice of magick is to identify the thread which links everything and unites all creatures in a chain of cosmic union." Since all the mined gold in the world fits inside three olympic size pools, any gold you touch was forged in a neutron star, came to Earth in a cosmic asteroid journey, was mined and smelted and interchanged many human hands. Aliens said long ago it needed to be mined because of its currency “abilities to pass electricity without over heating” copper is more conductive but doesn’t dissipate heat aswell , if we used copper in our devices they would burst into flames. Think about it, what was gold used for? Practically nothing that would not render it recyclable , jewelry ,some wiring but for the most part was just stocked up and would it have been stocked up if SOMEONE didn’t know it would be NEEDED for high tech electronics very shortly before and after 2012 for communication as speedy as the Mayans and others of that time explained.... kinda like the movie “the village “ we have no clue how advanced our predecessors are rendering us more easily controlled..... it wasn’t until right before the twin towers came down that the gold was pulled from the vaults underneath the towers and taken to be used in “future” (which is yesterday and now ) communications devices...... why else would gold have been so important in those times, did old westerners really think it was so rich people could have rings and watches? Why did they think rich people would even want it? Someone was told it was what held value and they asked No questions as to WHY .. seems food is what would keep one alive not a gold ring or lamp ....

The problem with gold is that mining for gold is really labour intensive and causes toxic cyanide runnofs whenever accidents happen.

Gold makes a much better form of electronic payment. Have it stored elsewhere and just have a guarantee that you own it. Same way you would with your money in a bank. It doesn't change value as quickly as bitcoin(in general) and instead of satoshi's you can just buy and exchange it according to weight.

People and their ideas is the best source to back currency. No rare element should be used in todays markets. It has a much better purpose/use and theirs not enough of it to go round. Using rare elements for currency is to waste it's potential use.
