Kpv is on the limit of what you could call a machine gun any bigger and you'd have an autocannon (which is the coolest type of weapon) I mean the Germans had a 15mm autocannon in ww2 and the KPV is 14.5mm

The BRG15 in 15x115 & 15.5x106 is a Machine Gun. The USA also had the .60Cal Machine Gun (15.2x114) which was based of the MG151 and later hot necked up to 20mm and became the 20x102 Vulcan. The line gets blurry when you include low pressure rounds, otherwise many shotguns would be cannons. A high velocity 20mm is a cannon, a 16mm Vega which is a necked up .50BMG has a smaller case than the 14.5x114 is meant to be a cannon though. Problem is the .50BMG necked up to a .70cal (17.8mm) hunting bullet isn't a cannon. *Usually* if a projectile has driving bands it's for a cannon, but the 15.5x106 uses them while a MG and a French 25mm Cannon uses Copper Jacketed lead core bullets with no driving bands.

Friendly word of advice: the people watching videos like this don't need so much "zazzle". You done good choosing the 14.5x114mm. It doesn't get much love because it's not very common but it's a very impressive round.

From 1983 on Fabrique National Herstal from belgium developed a 15,5 x 115 mm heavy machine gun for the us military as a replacement for the .50 cal M2HB, the weapon was 2,15 metres long with a 1,5 metres barrel length and weight 60 kg, 600 rounsds per minute fire rate and dual belt fed from both sides left and right, 1055 metres per second muzzle velocity and 2000 metres effective range. The Project was dropped in the early 1990s and the US kept the M2 Machine gun

I'm sure it's already mentioned but the KPV is less: "biggest machinegun evah!" and more: "smallest auto-cannon" that rarely gets mounted outside an armored turret. Kinda like a 25mm Bushmaster cannon on a naval mount.

Есть классификация. До 20 мм - это пулемёт, большое или равно 20 мм- автоматическая пушка. Так что тут всё правильно сказано самый большой крупнокалиберный пулемёт. Сравни патроны к нему крайний справа( есть кадр на видео) и левее - это 12,7. Примерно такой на Браунинг М2

With Arma 1 and Arma 2, the BRDM-2 uses the KPVT. Arma 3 Global Mobilization DLC has the KPVT as does Arma Reforger.

6:15 Nothing wrong with old guns, the prototypes of the M2 Browning also were tested in late 1918 and were then introduced in 1933 and i think i have no one to tell, which significance this over 100 year old HMG still has. I don't found sources and it's my own theory but i don't think that browning needed 15 years to reffine the M2 but the introduction year 1933 makes me suspicious if this has something to do with the Nazis. WW1 also known as the great war was oftenjrefereD to he war to end all wars. So i think that the M2 was on ice, because there shouldn't be more wars but with the NSDAP overtaking in 1933 top brass realised, that they indeed need something like an M2.

I think this was made as a anti-aircraft guns but than it was so improvised to work as anti-material gun but really really dangerous one and single shot bolt action version of this gun with same bullet size was used to shoot off tank tracks off

War thunders KPVT definitely isnt unlimited ammo, it had its proper 50round belts and only carries a couple reloads for them, same as on the IS7

The bullet is a powerful ammo is based in the 15mm german, but its even much more powerful because the 14.88mm bullet have a huge case from the russians 23mm anti air cannon cut to 114mm. And you have a bullet more than twice the power of the .50 cal. But the polish ZSU-33 in 14.5mm is even better for me than the KPV

A BMP carries guided anti tank missiles. Those have killed a Challenger 2 and would kill easyly a M1 tank.

@@JL-tm3rc Perhaps, but then the building, Mg & operators would be obliterated by the other tanks/infantry supporting the tanks & co. Surely older tanks such as Leo1 or AMX30, with thinner armour, would be vulnerable to rear shots, as the PzIV was to.50 rounds.

@@adnanem3909 Havent seen World of Guns kind of models but there are videos on YT with military training type disassembly. Search for "кпв разборка" ( 14.5mm KPV Disassembly ) Theres a manual in russian in pdf, google "Руководство службы 14,5-мм танковый пулемет КПВТ (1957)". Havent seen OCRed version, so i made it myself. Maybe i could put it in google doc, but YT will delete the link. Its a redesign of ideas from german interwar machine guns. Feeding from PK like belt, pull the cartridge back, then feeding forward. Short recoil operated, rotating bolt, rollers to help the rotation. Weird reversed bolt, like if the barrel extention with its lugs is on the bolt, and the matching lugs are on the barrel. Another manual has cutaway picture for feeding arm on page 78 "Наставление по стрелковому делу 14,5-мм спаренная зенитная пулеметная установка Владимирова и Маркова (ЗПУ-2)". I'll OCR it today.

Russians make the best big machine guns/canons. Like their WWII era 37mm. Their modern versions are only 30mm however. I guess they decided 30mm was better overall.

I think I read somewhere the Russians tried to use bore sizes that were always slightly bigger than their historical enemies, that way they could always use their ammunition as last resort but never the other way round. not sure if it was true??

Dimwit, its both sides, and it is working out good. IF you also followed the Peshmerga against ISIS. They used the KPV as long range support when they were assaulting ISIS areas. The gun is effective.

you know ruzzia doesn't have any of these vehicle's left, its all been used up in there on going 3 year smo, all soviet armour is gone, their army has been reduced to a pre industrial state that's why most of there assaults are golf buggy's and motorbikes, not mbts or apcs and because aa exists in Ukraine their air force cant go near the battlefield and there water baby drone program has pushed the black sea fleet to port again far away from being any use.

Golf carts are not being used for assaults XD. They are used behind friendly lines for transport because a golf cart is such low value that drone operators just laugh at them and find a tank or APC instead

Not impressive: Russian hype. 1 At 49kg its too heavy for one person to move. At between 28-38kg the M2 Browning can still be positioned by one person (just). 2 It can't really penetrate tanks accept from the side and close range and even that was fixed in WW2 by shutzern plates the Germans added to Panther and Panzer IV etc. 3 The original auto canon (still in Machine Gun in German designation) was the German 20mm Bekker Autocanon of WW1 designed to penetrate tanks and eventually be added to aircraft This gun whose patents were transferred to Swiss Companies after WW2 lead to both the Oerlilon, Soluthurn and then back into Rhinemetal and Mauser. 4 The much heavier German C30 and C38 guns were not much harder to move, once above 50kg you need carriages and 2 people anya and were used as both FLAK guns and Anti Tank weapons.

@@Ming1975 Cannons have several types of projectile, some are explosive. I think that the criteria is "projectile, explosive WITH FUSE". 15mm is the smallest projectile that they put explosives AND a fuse in.

@@Ming1975 The 15mm MG-151 was in use from 1940, the KPV is from 1949. The KPV was more of a Anti Material weapon, for taking out trucks, light armored vehicles, fuel depos and such. Overkill is placing a 20mm Vulcan on top of a M113 for convoy protection, which the americans did in Vietnam. Ouch.
