Awesome video and information Thank you for taking the time. I am having the exact same issue with my boiler after having a new bathroom fitted, my problem is I have no idea where the dead leg may be on my system. Better ask my bathroom installer. Thanks.

Happens alot with boiler conversions when people don't cut the hot tank outlet back to the tee. It's always a dead leg on the hot.

I'm going on the hunt for a dead leg. Had a conversion to a combi recently and the installers are not keen on coming back to resolve the same issue.

I do wonder if the mini shocks arrestor should be sized for the main.

Check valve and shock arrestor

what you need is a shock arrester ,we fit these to Worcester boilers all the time as they stop this problem and take minutes to fit

To be honest, I did fit one to the cold feed going to the boiler and it didn't stop it....that's why I phoned Vokera and they said about a dead leg on the hot side. Maybe the shock arrestor on the hot side would of sorted it??? What do you think??

Most Worcester now have a turbine signal delay setting and you can set it long enough to not fire up from the shockwave. No shock arrester needed. Unless of course you’ve a non return on the main!

What’s the science behind this I’m stumped? If it was an issue of expansion, why didn’t the mini shock arrestor account for this? What was the dead leg reasoning behind this? Please explain what the dead leg was doing that caused this and how removing it sorted it

You have got me really thinking about this. What is the difference between a dead lead on the hot water side and the pipe going to a hot tap that you never use. There is no difference. However at some point you will always turn the hot tap on and there is the difference. The dead leg potentially will get some air trapped in it and there is no way of releasing it. Going back to the video when you turn a cold tap on, on the mixer tap, are you getting a slight cross over through the mixer tap which doesn't affect the boiler but with the pocket of air in the dead leg, this is enough to affect the flow turbine/pressure sensor. I can't remember what is in a Vokera. Don't quote me on this though, im not 100%sure...

...also it was Vokera that said immediately, have you a dead leg on the hot water side and that will be the problem if you have. Therefore you could phone them if you really want to know the science behind it..

Is there any other way to fix this issue please anybody can help, I had my new bathroom fitted all done by cowboys and everything has been fitted plasterboarded and tiled all over, and now I have viewed this video, I have the exact same problem

I'm sorry but I don't think there is. The best thing to do is phone the boiler manufacturer and ask them. They might have a solution

My boiler fires up,while all the taps and heaters are off. Sometime even in the middle of the night,it proper fires up for like 5-10 seconds. And that happens 5-10 x a day Any clue guyz ?

Depends what boiler it is. Some are supposed to, if the water in the system drops below a certain temperature. Sometimes it's just the pump as well just pushing the water round the system. Again that's quite normal for a boiler to do that...
