I’ve been really wondering about this cuz I’m like we’re allowed to like anime aesthetics in public now?? Mother's Basement made a video on that very debate of good things made by bad people and made a lot of good and thoughtful points on the topic and it was released around the same time that the news originally came out and how such information can taint the media we love but also just because one person in said media is bad, that doesn't necessarily mean everyone involved (Directors, Animators, Voice Actors, Musicians, Adaption Script Writers ect) should be punished for one person's wrong doings. It's up to you on where you set the bar of your values.
@TheNuclearGeek

@@GetInTheRobot So, by all means ignore the great work of everyone else that created the anime, or better yet condemn them for daring to create something based off of his work. You could try being rational adults about it and say it's a great Anime(s) created by dozens of fine artists but the original creator is a criminal. Sticking your fingers in your ears, closing your eyes, and going "la la la I can't hear you" doesn't help anything. That's how we end up with people like OP that don't know anything about it. Aren't you the "Anime explainers"? So explain the situation, don't ignore it.

It’s kinda weird when I remember as late as like 2011-2012 you’d be looked at as a SUPER NERD for wearing like a Deathnote shirt. I personally prefer the brands that draw or commission people to draw their own OC characters as designs as opposed to just slapping a manga panel and the brand logo above it on a shirt. Or in the case of more popular anime/pop culture merch, I prefer in universe references as opposed to just logo on shirt, like maybe having a shirt that says Anteiku Coffee House on it as opposed to just like Kaneki’s face lol.
