Im not gonna force you to study or learn a valuable skill, usually at a secondary school, but if you choose not to do these things, then do not come complaining to me about being poor. You made your bed, now sleep in it; however you could always grow the HELL up and work incredibly hard to put your life together. Dont give me those bullshit excuses about privilege or some people cant because their environment. We, my father, brother and sister, use to share our three bedroom house with my homeless cousin, whose parents kicked him out because their apartment couldnt have more than two people living there. He graduated, three years ago, from the ibew and has a small house with a wife and kids. He went from making literally NOTHING to 20 an hour, as an apprentice, and now at 38 dollars an hour. He is now a role model to his kids and someone i am proud to call a friend. If that dumb fuck could do it, then most any able body can.

Diane R. I suggested this and got all kinds of excuses like they may not have a washer and dryer or money for the laundromat. Guess they never heard of a clothesline. It seems to me as if a lot of them think it is beneath them to mess with cloth diapers. I'm hoping corona at least brings rents under control. Considering wages in the US, $1700/month for rent should get you a luxurious apt. that only a wealthy person could afford. Just read Manhatten has tons of empty apts, average rent on 2 BR is $4,620 but salaries are high. Problem is most apts are owned by small business ppl, not large corps. So when ppl can't pay rent, businesses will collapse. Either rentals will become affordable again or large corps or foreign interests will buy up the properties and NY will become like Miami Beach, once a sleepy little town that time forgot until it turned into a jet setters hot spot and houses that rented for $300/month became $3000/night tourist digs.

The time restriction simulated the money/resource restrictions that many face. The results were that any restriction of resource increased stress and fatigued the mind, thus leading to bad decisions. Honestly poverty is problem in American simply because most Americans don’t care about lower income/ poor people. There are a lot of rational administrative reasons as for why poverty hasn’t improved over the years like the one you mentioned but more often than not our countrymen like to go through mental gymnastics to explain why poor people have no one to blame but themselves for being poor.

It's also a problem when people make bad life choices. Has Ben Shapiro has stated, there are three things you can do to ensure that you never are poor: finish high School, get a job, and don't have kids until you're married. And I also my dad don't have kids unless you can afford them.

But it’s funny how people not only tell women what to do with their bodies but actively limit their availability to something available by federal law in states like Alabama and Texas but those same legislators will fight to the death any imposed infringement on their rights.. like owning an unregistered assault rifle. Also, Welfare is NOT charity either, that is taken care of by taxes. There are lots of non profit shelters as well for people like the homeless, poor, etc. See how this massive amount of charity money doesn't seem to be having any sort of noticeable effect?

Think of payday loans, get-rich-quick schemes, local governments that are funded by over-fining people who can't afford a lawyer, every business that needs cheap or unsafe labor from desperate people. No don’t have abortions, but at the same time make right choices. The whole point is taking responsibility in life. For example it’s not a coincidence that the majority of poor people are unmarried with children and no dad. That’s a choice you made in life. When you make a bad choice the solution is not killing another human. It saddens me greatly to see people suffer greatly. But I believe we need to look at the root issue to help them. Why did they end up here? What choices did they make to get there? How can we change that cycle?

A person can only be help so much, how much help should the government give for a family to not live in poverty. I believe there are several factors that play a roll in poverty. There are a lot of cases where individuals grow up in poverty and continue the same negligent behaviors as the people around them which results to living in poverty 1.) having children when not financially able to take care of them plays a big roll in poverty. Free birth control do exist 2.) No desire or motivation to learn a trade or further their education for better job opportunity. In fact most individuals would not work if they know they can get more financial income from the government then from an employer 3.) The inability to manage, save, and invest money due to lack of financial education

There are such thing as condoms. You may even get them for free at many health departments. Also worst case scenario if one happens to be pregnant, an abortion is not the ONLY option. An adoption is a much better option (gee that rhymes 😁). There are couples out there that want children but can't have any biologically, including LGBTQ+ couples.

The stop having kids is rich! If you knew anything, you'd know that the budget for Planned Parenthood has been frozen! And poor people are affected the most!

Not having kids is not a solution. Look at what is happening in Japan. They followed that advise and now their population is shrinking and they cannot support their elderly as the burden on the young is too much as it isn't spread out. If your plan for the economy doesn't account for and support the next generation, then it isn't sustainable and the plan must be thrown out.

Look at Katherine, Dutchess of Cambridge with three kids and how she is looked at as a wonderful mother! The minute working class or single parents have kids, then people start saying how they are trying to rip off the dole or welfare programs! Well let's tell the truth! Katherine kids live off the English dole for royalty while poor people get state benefits! What's the difference?! Both programs are paid for by the people! The answer is the cumulation of education and replacing corrupt systems with more efficient and inclusive processes, etc. Not everyone has equal access to information and resources - that's the ultimate point.

You’re exactly right! I’m a trucker too, but I’m home every night. Another thankless job I have down. Without trucks the world stops, but no one cares, or respects us.

Come to my country in Indonesia, it's true the average wage is only 300-400 dollars per month, but you can rent house only 50 dollar per month (the cheapest room), 100 dollars per month (a comfortable small house). For the food, the cost is only 3 dollars a day, you can eat 3 times a day with just 3 dollars (I am not joking) Moreover, if you are American, my fellow folks will regard you highly and they will dare to oay you at least 1000 dollars per month. Believe me, if you have 1000 dollars per month in my country, you will live luxuriously here. In my country, I have never heard any employed person who don't have a house or can't afford to rent any house.
