The saddest thing is most people don't even know what really makes them happy. Most just walk around with someone else's idea of what happiness looks like.

@@nimazsheik5152 This. Social Media (i make youtube an exception because i mostly use it for laughs and learning) can be extremely bad for you. Actually i'd say its bad for most people who have it right now. They just dont really think about it because its such a habit in their brain by now. I got rid of all my social media about 1.5 years ago and it improved my life without question. Now im looking to get back into it but with a business angle, it the only acceptable use for social media in my eyes. Never again will i be one of those people who upload pictures of themselves and other nonsense desperately fishing for likes. Its quite sad just how hive-minded people have become much because of social media.

There are many people that care about you and that want to help you out, as good as they can. Something i learned about myself was, that the only problem i had all along, is not accepting happiness/better things/my true self. Tell yourself that you deserve it, until you believe it. And if you need an open ear, do not hesitate to drop a message in here. Among the toxic "internet-crowd" there are many good souls out here. Hope you're doing well.

This video hit me in the feels. I am a month off my antidepressants, and I am starting to feel deeply, eat better, and sleep consistently. I realized that my depression will always remain but changing my attitude towards it; not allowing dread to fill my up days and working to stay motivated on my down days. I discovered gratitude for who I am today and becoming proud of myself for overcoming the hardship within my own mind to be happy or satisfied with my present.

I don't usually make any comments on YT but this stood out to me as I have just also quit Effexor cold turkey this past week. I was on it for 10 years. I feel the same things you describe, and feel more grounded. My goal was to lay bare my own emotions, tolerate them, and let them guide me to who I'm truly meant to be as person. I feel like I'm recalibrating my life. Good luck to you.

I’ve been using affirmations for my depression and it has helped me like no other. Tell your brain to find something good about any situation, it will. Just like it does when your depression makes you think something bad about a good situation. Hang in there! The fact you even commented on a video like this lets me know that you’ve come way too far to give up now.

I’ve recently entered a period in my life where I feel very happy and emotionally stable. And nothing has really changed except my nutrition, exercise, and overall discipline. I’ve realized I can’t have one of these elements without the other, but together they make me feel so amazing. Every day, I’ve been tracking my nutrition and making sure I’m getting every essential nutrient in sufficient quantities (to prevent deficiencies and ultimately, prevent depression or hormonal imbalances). I’ve also been walking or doing some form of dedicated exercise at least once a day for 30 minutes. I’m reading a book on the link between exercise and psychology and it’s inspired me to do so. And finally, instead of making up excuses to not follow through with the plans I’ve made, I simply stop thinking about it and go through the motions mindlessly. The next thing I know, I’m fully motivated. Relying on discipline instead of “do I feel like it” or “am I motivated” has really filled me with joy and hope for the future. Sometimes it’s not about waiting to get out of a rut, but just getting off the couch (or out of bed) and working for your own happiness.

It’s easy to get caught up in negative thought patterns, which I deal with every day but if you can try and see the positive every day, then that would be great. I might try that. I can usually be positive for a few days then get back into being depressed/anxious.

Absolutely great content! I have been doing gratitude journaling for almost two months now since my grandmother died, writing down five different things I am grateful for, that made me smile or that I did well. It helps me slow down, summarize my day on a positive note, remember what I have done (otherwise weeks woosh by) and change my mind to a more positive direction. Nevertheless, I currently feel the effect is incremental to me. This might be because I've grown used to this habit or that I still have some bigger challenges that are building a wall for more gratitude. I would suggest if anyone gets this far, start EXPRESSING gratitude more to people who have made your day or play an important role in Your life, even to strangers. It will go a long way. I am adding this to my journaling day by day. Take care!

Thank you so much! I've definitely been the type with insane goals and always thinking when I reach them I'll "become happy." But my goals are so out of reach and have been taking me years to pursue them, I have been putting my present life on hold for it. It wasnt until very recently that I've realized this and tried to change myself. Doing a lot more self care, rather than sacrificing most things for my end goal. I remember distinctively telling myself, "I just have to do X and then I'll be happy." "If I can just hold out for this one thing, I'll be that much closer to my goal." I'd get closer and closer to the goal, but never fully reach it. My mind and body was exhausted and I felt like I was running on E for far too long. Now I'm trying to do small things that give my life meaning. And I'm trying my best to get out of this mindset.

U know what man, there had been times when I came to ur channel for some meaning and understand of things in life and there had been times when I just thought you to be just a guy speaking motivatingly and friendly but of no real use as that made me feel comfortable so that I actually relieve myself temporarily of pain that’s caused because deep down my mind knew stuff you were saying was actually true but it was hurtful so I could put myself into an illusion (yeah still knowing I’m doing wrong to myself but I’m desperate, broken and really lost it-control, hope or everything!). And here I’m today coming to ur videos after searching like a desperate maniac - I searched ‘how to be happy’ with no intention of any video to actually inspire me. I’m not telling yours did but sure however painful (because u talk REALITY!) was the stuff u said-i knew it would have some value or an idea to change my perspective because I listen to u talking with rapt attention or so is my condition right now. So leave the strategy to be happy and shit for now, all I’m saying guys is that no one(fucking nobody will come atleast to a guy like me when reaching out for help itself is a problem due to the fear they wouldn’t talk comfortingly in the way you would want them to or not have time to completely understand what you’re going through) will come to our aid. If we need some fixing it’s always you and you Only. Trust me Ive fantasized things getting better with time but no they don’t if you have the same approach and you get exhausted and you don’t even want to fix anything because you lost it. You just want to go or never wanted to be here at all but suicide is not an option and still want to bring change you try to do stuff atleast like an experiment. Reading this again it sounds like another shitty motivation post but I’m writing only what i feel exactly. The fact that really to fix yourself it has to be only you. Maybe you should atleast initiate something and maybe things might alleviate(actually you’ve become stronger that you think you will be able to deal with them and get the hang of it but that’s all the later easy part. The hard and important part is you don’t want to be the you that you are now and only you have to start that fixing yourself process)

I think I'll try to do it anyway, I have nothing to lose at this point. If anything else, it will force me to get moving more in my day, so I can have something to be grateful of. I used this method already, for a very short period of time. Things you can be grateful for can be very very small or hidden (and I would say, the smaller the better), like the sun shining after some rainy days, or an warm shower, or simply to have a place that you call home. To me, today would be 1. Something that made you smile: a fan-fiction about my favorite character 2. Something you're grateful for: my cat being here with me 3. Something that you did well: washed my hair, they turned out wonderful

I strongly agree. For a whole year, we were in and out of lockdown. Looking back, it definitely gave me anxiety. And I looked to two people on the internet to make me happy. In my abstract little word, I took the happiness they gave me out of context. I put it everywhere and into everything. It felt like, no matter what I had something. And I waited and waited for the day, saying “once they get back together, I’ll be so happy!” And they finally did. And because of my real life situation (a surprise lockdown at Christmas), I wasn’t happy. And now they’re gone. They broke up, and I have to try and live in the present, because I can’t tell myself they will come back anymore. There is no “once they…” or “when they…” anymore. And I’ve gone through this before. “By the 23rd of april, I’ll be the best version of myself.” I wasn’t waiting to be happy, I was trying. And by April 23rd, I was happy. But as my life got harder, I missed their joy, and now I’m in the same situation, I can’t leave them behind. But now I’m trying again. I am going to be the best version of myself by July 2nd. And I’m appreciating my life now, trying to forget about them, and love my own life, in the present. I took their joy and my attatchment to them as a lesson. A lesson to appreciate my own life, and live in the present. I made my life revolve around someone else, and when they brought my the most joy they could, I was still not even happy. So By them leaving, I learnt to love me. And it’s one of the best lessons I’ve ever learnt.

I'm not sure I comprehend your statement. So Basically, for a long time your personal happiness depended upon 2 individuals who you never met, and only saw via social media? IMO you really need to seek refuge, consolation and advice through real live people. It should be organic and tangible, it could even be a neighbor or a co-worker, someone at a restaurant you frequent or at the Gym or local swimming pool. You need to get out more from what it sounds like. Family & Friends. The most important network for us. Seeking happiness solely through entertainment entities is not a recipe for your happiness. I enjoy my media too, Netflix, other streaming of shows, even story-driven video games but those connections are not real. Not in the sense of human reality in the real world. I'm not saying they cannot produce happiness they CAN. I'm with you on that. There are times I look forward to being alone so i can marinate in those pleasures but you need outside contact. I do love your last statement by them leaving you learned to love yourself...agree 100% that's so important. Continue on that path and you're going to succeed and feel better about yourself and the world around you. But don't do it alone...and don't rely on the internet & media to produce sources of happiness

@@Original-Juice don’t worry, I have definitely learnt my lesson by this point :) Lockdown was the cause, being unable to socialise kickstarted the attatchment I have to them. Obviously, being only young I had people in real life too, like friends and people at school. It’s just that when things went wrong I relied on them. They were my backup happiness and that’s bad and i know it. But for example, at christmas, I couldn’t see my family due to covid, and that’s when they made me happiest. Even though my life was a mess, I had everything I could have wanted from them. That was the last time they were publicly obvious as a couple, despite not announcing they were dating. After that they went quiet, and pretty soon after that it became believable they could have broken up. So since then I’ve been replacing the massive hole they left my life, it’s just hard to change everything when it was all revolving around them. My backup happiness was taken away. And now, I am able to live without them. You’re right, the last statement is the one I’m most proud of. It’s easier when I have things to distract myself, like studying or going out. But I try my best, every day, to appreciate and love my own life. Out of the whole thing I have learnt so many lessons, like “everything happens for a reason”, and then that leads onto smaller lessons. Thank you for reading my comment and trying to understand, it really validates me in a way :)

It`s not hard to be happy. You can be happy even with the smallest things. It`s just hard to be happy continuously.

Man, this video was such a good vibe. Not annoying and fast-paced, calm. I approve of it.

I agree with this completely. I was feeling very anxious that last few days and I wanted it to stop. Thinking about what I've achieved so far helped me calm down. Also saying out loud what I'm grateful for helped me as well.

"The more ambitious you are, the harder it is to be grateful." When you leave a quote in this world that will be remembered even after you are gone, that is when you have made a dent in the universe. That quote will stick with me for a very long time bc it means much more than the way it is said. Thank you! - Preston Global

for me it's more like the more ambitious u are the less happy u will feel. And that is what I'm struggling with. Having had successful relatives around me all the time and I too had big dreams and ambitions and seeing others become big just kept me thinking how ppl gets so successful and impactful individuals and how some ppl barely don't

I watched this video last week and it totally changed my perspective on life. One conclusion I've drawn from this is that anxiety is merely the anticipation of a certain future event. You're experiencing a feeling that isn't necessarily aligning with what's happening in the current moment. You think they'll laugh at you, you think you'll fail, you're living in a future you've made up in your own mind instead of living in the now. Once you realize that it's just that - a feeling, you can focus on the now and preform the task at hand much better. Life is NOW.
