Why keep the Hasselblad X1D despite also owning the X2D?

Why do I keep the Hasselblad X1D mark ii when I also own the much more advanced and technically superior X2D - or in other words: Why is it that I still love my Hasselblad X1D ii so much?
I have had a Hasselblad X camera since 2017, when I bought my first X1D mark i on the used market. I upgraded this to the much improved X1D mark ii the day it was released in 2019, and has been very happy with this camera ever since.
Despite that I upgraded to the X2D, also the day it was released in 2022, and has almost become addicted to using this camera. I do almost all reviews of Hasselblad or adapted lenses on the X2D, but I still keep the X1D mark ii, and are definitely not thinking about selling it. In this video I explain why I adore the X1D so much.

I am sure you will love it. It was a major update and I also had the first X1D until the Mark II came

Dude, you are rich, you can afford to keep a collection of Hassies, good for you! I am glad you endorse the Hasselblad X1D, I am planning on getting one.

Actually, I am not rich, I have just prioritised my photography, so although it's only a hobby, I make money from photography, not a lot but enough to justify keeping the "collection" of Hasselblads.

Own X1D (first version) since day one. Right after its release, camera had many flaws, however, with subsequent FW updates, they reshaped the camera, fixing all the flaws. Now, camera works as it should. I love my X1D and use it on regular bases. You really don't know how good X1D is, until you own it. My X1D is not for sale and will not be. It is a keeper. Thank you

X1D has 1st generation sensor. They upgraded all they could on that particular censor. Camera still shoots 2fps so If you shoot fast action, X1D is probably not for you. If you shoot landscapes, portraits, product or Art photography - camera will excel in those fields

Thanks for your comment. At least I try to be honest, also to help people who might want to get into the Hasselblad system but can't afford the X2D.

Totally with you on this - as a Pro for 35yrs + commercial fashion, portraiture - its always good to hang on to stuff - I have the new 100c on order from Hass - 2nd in the queue apparently - and I will still hang onto the 907x CFV50c - its just what we do - the last camera I parted with is now on permanent loan to Fuji for their Heritage Dept at House Of Photography in Covent Garden London - a full unused Fuji GX680III with every lens and every accessory and a few prototypes from when I was in Japan with Fuji before becoming one of their ambassadors and film lecturers - I have not been to see it - but its nice to know its there - sometimes there is an emotional attachment to camera's - like cars I suppose

Thanks for your comment. I'we had Hasselblads since the age of 19, where I bought my first 500C, that's almost 50 years ago. Like you I have also been around Fuji, though not the GX680, although I have been looking for one during the last couple of years, as I began shooting a lot on film again. I have some Fujis - X-T2 and X-E4 - and I love to use them. But favorite cameras have always since the first always been my Hasselblads.

I also have the x1d v1. It still works for my needs once I got all the firmware updated. If it stops working and can not be fixed, only then would I consider the x2d. Thanks for doing this video.

Another excellent video. Thank you. I am now trying to find a second hand X1Dii as a back up camera to the X2D. But will the 28mm, 38mm, 55mm, and 90mm lenses work with the X1Dii?
@key2adventure
@key2adventure 5 ай бұрын
Don't worry, everything works perfectly on the X1D ii as well, at least it does with my 28mm and the 90mm. AF in AF mode as well as manual override, the function ring which I use for aperture, and the shutter speed can be set to 1/4000 second with the 90mm. It will be a perfect back up camera.

I have X1DII and X2D as well and I don't plan on selling either of them. I like to use the X1DII when I don't need the IBIS. The image quality is outstanding on both.
