I've been in the army 23 years now and have seen about 5 young soldiers throughout my time do 1 or 2 enlistments 4-8 years survive combat in Iraq or Afghanistan get out of the military go back home just to get murdered by so called friends or randomly in the streets smh. I always tell soldiers be careful going back home because your friends are not the same people you left behind

I wouldn't call my hometown the hood, but it was definitely a terrible place. I got in fights almost everyday and even though I usually beat them easily, people there never learn. There was always someone else who wanted a try... thought they could do better. I'm never going back there.
