It's insane how amazing yet slightly unfortunate Klopp's tenure at Liverpool is. The only team to fail the league with 90+ points TWICE, and when they did won the league, they clinched it during covid lockdown. But still imo one of the most influential manager in Liverpool history. How he turned that structurally and fincancially horrible Liverpool team into one of the best in the world again is quite astonishing.

Every fan (even everton fans and united fans) wanted to watch Liverpool play because they FOUGHT for possession. it was beautiful. Plus sadio mane was a "box-to-box" winger. Dominated that entire left side. One of the greatest teams ever put together..... Period.

As a United fan, the game that impressed me (and frustrated me) more than any other was the 2-1 win at Aston Villa. It finally looked like Liverpool would lose, or at least drop points, and two past the 89th minute wins them the game. I resigned myself, in that moment, to Liverpool winning the league that season.

A while back i looked at some xg stats. Liverpool regularly exceeded their predicted xg points, and occasionally significantly posted actual points well below their predicted xg total. When I looked at the numbers, Liverpool had the weirdest game state numbers. Most teams get better when they go in front, and worse when they go behind. Liverpool got better both when they were behind, or when they were in front. They were at their weakest when it was nil nil - the least emotional, steady state. It seems this team was at its best when the game was on, heated and heavy metal. Just as Klopp wanted. Great content showing football is about a lot more than just numbers - as much as i love the data.

Between the idea of controlled football to minimize risk and one of increased chaos to maximize risk, I prefer the former. It's why Pep's man city is more consistent and suffer less injuries. Klop's way is nice to watch but it requires too much energy, therefore it can only bring results short term. Long term Pep will always win because his style is patient.

Klopp's departure makes me even more frustrated at Xavi's situation. Klopp started in a very lacklusture way compared to peak Liverpool, and with time he built his machine that became this force that would go toe to toe with Pep's City and often come away on top. Meanwhile in Barcelona, Xavi won two trophies last season, and within 6 months, he is almost being forced to step aside. Modern football is overcrowded by glory hunters.

I think Liverpool were a bit more control in 18/19 onwards. If you're talking about absolute chaos then Liverpool in 2017/18 was definitely it. They were all guns blazing, all attacking, zero defending. They would either tear the opponent to shreads in the first half or completely burnout of exhaustion. No in between😂

If ever team epitomises quality over quantity, it was LIV spending big on VVD & Alyson, as opposed to what TOTT did with the 140m Countiniho money. As a fans, i cant thank enough that this man come to our club and bring us back to our perch, who been sleeping for a long time and seems like dont have a will to compete at the top level, everything changes after Klopp came, if you are a fans, you know that something is shifting to better things, from the west brom match, lost on europe final and also ucl final, and jeez what a season 18-20 was, we got all of trophies that available and words cant even express it, but we also knew that this style of football come with cost, if we cant keep our skuad refresh than thats what happen on season 20-22, i feel that skuad is just out of fuel and our owner cant even see something need to be done if you want to keep that winning season we had before with consistency every year, you need to look for players depths, players that hungry and want to works for badge of this club.
