A question I was asked in my last Q&A was 'why large yachts needs a big crew, and why can't an owner with a large yacht just run it with a small crew?' I address this question in this video.
Also lots more shots of Andromeda, the 107m Expedition SuperYacht which has a twin sister named Ulysses!

Valued at about US$200 million, the vessel is spacious enough for a helipad and another smaller yacht on its front deck. One of his previous yachts, also named Ulysses/Andromeda, featured a decommissioned US Navy submarine lashed to the fore deck that provided an underwater getaway for as many as six people.

Consti well, companies with hundreds of thousands employees have hundreds of billions of dollars worth of market cap. So it makes sense to assume that thousands of employees is to roughly billions in market cap. Keep in mind market doesn't mean revenue..

Maintaining luxury yachts is a labor-intensive operation. For instance, the former Royal Yacht Britannia still requires 15 people just to maintain the deck, hull and machinery, even though she'll never go to sea again. While modern naval construction and finishes have eased the workload a bit compared to a 1950s vessel, you look at the size of Andromeda and just imagine how many crew it would take just to man brooms and keep things tidy.

Damn, that boat has for tenders a massive 2 deck power cat, a 65' HCB Estrella, a Pardo 50, a rather large enclosed cabin RIB, and a couple of other ribs! never mind the Helicopter on top... who knows what else is hiding in the inside!

You failed to explain "Why MegaYachts need a big crew". To do so, you'd need to show what exactly needs to be done on a yacht, how many people are necessary to complete each job, and how often each job needs to be done.

I love watching these boats, I would love to build it if I would have the money but I would sell it tight away, first of all sailing is much more fun and real but the worst thing is all these people working while I'm on holiday, surround by personnel 24/7 would not work for me, I would only do it if it's a holiday for all them too, it would have been the best boat for crew with amazing cabins, food and use the pool when i'm not

That white tender at the rear with the 4 outboards, the outboards look like those ones that came out with the supercharged Chev 6.2L V8, and it has 4 of them, bugger. Then the bigger cat tender is capable of 60 knots, someones into speed!

Shit! They are 7 Marine outboards, 557 or 627s, not sure which, and that is the horse power these OBs put out. Between 2000 and 2500 HP on the back of this tender! Just looking at a video of a 39 footer with 3 of them, it can make 80 knots!

Yep, those are 7 Marine OBs, either the 557 model, or the 627. That is their horsepower, each! Between 2000 and 2500 HP total. A 39 footer with 3 627s can make 80 knots.

Are the helicopters used made specifically for use on/around the yacht or does the owner use whatever helicopter they may already have? I'm guessing most yachts do not transit with the helicopter onboard unless they have a hanger due to the caustic marine envrioment

Andromeda was for sale a year ago because the owner had a bigger boat built . Not sure if she was sold or is still for sale.. 200 million I think they wanted.

You'd be used to the same lifestyle on shore. Superyachts have very private suites for the owner where they can unwind without being disturbed, by crew or by their own guests. The level of help they're used to is extremely unobtrusive in the first place. A good butler always anticipates your desires and preempts your needs.

I ask. What would be the minimum crew size simply to operate an ocean liner? In particular,the US United States?

Well that’s tricky, that ship is old so probably required more crew because of less automation. But a modern ship of that size would be around 400+ crew. Wit cruise ships it depends on the level of service. The higher level the more crew per guests there would be.

@@eSysmanSuperYachts 400+ and with no one attending to guests. I believe (through documentary film) crew size was close to 2000 when used as a liner. Hey what about propulsion? Studies always say that the ship, if renovated must move away from steam. How else I ask do you make 250,000+ HP available? Will the US United States ever sail again. Studies say hull is sound. Thanks Oh I bet others find the story of the US United States interesting.

I noticed the Al Mirqab is at anchor in Nice according to Marine Traffic. Any chance you could get photos/video of it? At 133 meters it truly qualifies as a megayacht. It's owned by Qatar's former PM and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. Considering its owner security will be very tight so getting anywhere near it, if it docks, will be tough.

I’m guessing you’re in Monaco. Given the wealth in Monaco what is the life of a service worker there? I seriously doubt a waiter makes six figures even there. Are they long commuting to another in nearby area in another country?

Funny question. Of course you're going to need a big crew to run a big yacht, just like it takes a big staff to run a big hotel. Imagine just cleaning all the bathrooms on a megayacht...

Ulysses was Graeme Harts original yacht built in 2014. He sold it in 2017 and it was renamed Andromeda by the new owner. Graeme replaced it in 2017 with a 116m explorer he named Ulysses after the first one.

3rd try. Each time I hit ''comment'' it disappears. They are 7 Marine OBs, either 557 or 627 horsepower EACH. 3 627s on a 39 footer makes 80 knots, so this thing must haul arse.
