Why Michael Jackson DROPPED Religion & EXPELLED From Jehovah's Witnesses?! | the detail.

It is clear that Michael Jackson had a strong connection to God that was instilled in him from an early age due to his mother's deep commitment to the Jehovah's Witness faith.
Throughout his incredible fame and success he lived by the conventions and teachings of the Christian denomination, and sort to appease his religion's elders. However, Michael Jackson and his church often butt heads when it came to his performance style, celebrity and musical output. This ultimately led to them making a crippling ultimatum with the pop superstar, choose your career or God and your faith.
A decision Michael found unbearable to make, and left him guilt-ridden and devastated for many years to come.

@the detail. Hi, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Your VIDEOS, However, I'm a Witness myself and I have to say There are a lot of inaccuracies in this particular video That are not to the same standard of quality and accuracy as usual. Michael was never "Controlled " or "Forced" out of being a Jehovah's Witness, he CHOSE TO LEAVE temporarily. Jehovah's Witnesses don't try to "Control" anyone, to do so would be unscriptual Only God has the right to tell us what to do And he is the one we all ultimately answer to. Roman's 14:12 "So, then, each of us will render an account for himself to God" One thing many people do not know is that michael actually returned to being a Jehovah's Witness in his later years before his death in the 2000s That's why his cousin Wendell who was an elder was able to give a Smaller memorial ceremony before the public one And why he said he Was glad His life was Connected with Jehovah's Because it meant the resurrection hope which Michael believed in also. Michael certainly never thought they were "Controlling" or "forcing " If You notice, Michael never spoke bad about his experience of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses even in his time before he returned, In fact he only spoke positive about it in all of his interviews, Like the ones where he gave a speech of oxford university, or with Maurie povich, or Geraldo Rivera, or in the 2001 TV Guide magazine Where he talks about his current activity As being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Lastly, don't forget Michael wanted and DID( when he was alive ) raise his children as Jehovah's Witnesses. Do you really think a parent as loving and gentle as MICHAEL JACKSON who Ironically, Had arguably THE MOST Domineering, controlling, Forceful, Parent imaginable in Joe Jackson Would return to and want HIS CHILDREN to be raised in a religion if it were really as "Controlling" and "Forceful" As some people with an Innaccurate knowledge might say?

@2misschambers\AintILib Exactly!!! We ALL have free will, It's OUR actions and OUR choices, and OUR Choices have CONSEQUENCES. YOU may not like Jehovah God's rules and having to obey them, And YOU May not Love God enough to OBEY ALL his commands (1 John 5:3 For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome. BUT That doesn't mean everyone else has to be rebellious and disobedient like YOU Or that they have to encourage or Applaud your bad behavior. REAL Christians obey ALL God's commands INCLUDING the difficult ones..... ( Staying away from unrepentant wrongdoers even if family members.) 1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I am writing you to stop keeping company with anyone called a brother who is sexually immoral or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.

As a jw parent back in the80s and 90s I was told not to encourage my children to pursue higher education. They also were encouraged not to join the band and chorus. Joining school sports was discouraged. This religion squashes childrens abilities and talents and makes them feel guilty. This is the battle poor Micheal had to deal with!Best thing I ever did for my children was to get them out of this horrible cult.

Michael was a spiritual person and was very open minded and believed that all paths of faith had some truths within it which are the reason why he explored and learned from other paths as well later in his life while still having faith in The Creator, Michael didn't liked to be told what to do and he had his reasons to these decisions that he made.

i agree with him exploring other paths of faith which led him to his trusted rabbi Shmuley. I also agree with "Michael didn't like to be told what to do" especially when the rabbi Shmuley told him to stop thinking of himself as the messiah to all these kids, also to get off the drugs - MJ didn't like either piece of advice and had the rabbi abruptly cut out of his life.

As a believer of Christ and huge Michael Jackson fan the biggest thing I struggle with is understanding we cannot ‘idolize’ people that are not Jesus. I always wonder why Jesus gets an exception when he’s no more or less of human being. I was told not to idolize Mike growing up. But I’m still holding tight that Mike was as close to Jesus in terms of his impact overall on the world. But a Christ believer would consider this bad. That’s idolizing Jesus imo Vs seeing his true purpose. Every human has their purpose, including Jesus. He did what so many others have been brought on this earth to do. I don’t see him above anyone else. So to me Mike is right up there with him.

What you can do is to pray for Michael's children and family and even your fellow fans. We are instructed to love one another, so the love you feel for others is a natural outpouring of the Love you are constantly partaking of via the Holy Spirit. You do not have to put "Jesus first," because He is more than first. He is *central.* And so therefore that love will be expressed towards others, just as God intended. Yes, MJ is a hero, a fascinating man and entertainer. So put your love for him to good use by praying for those he was closest to. Peace to you!

YES! Thedetail getting into that nitty-gritty. Michael's spiritual beliefs underpin his message & legacy to the world. But there was ALWAYS a conflict between Michael Jackson the Superstar & Michael Jackson the Devout. I'm honestly surprised that the Jackson 5 wasn't shut down from the outset by the Jehovah's Witnesses. That circle would NEVER be squared & after Thriller something was gonna have to give. But his Jehovah's Witness upbringing never left him even if he studied other belief systems & incorporated them into his own. This is probably why he moved like moved as a Superstar. His Entertainment platform WAS his Ministry. The Duality of Michael Jackson in all kinds of ways including this one between Showbiz & Church is why he is profound of an artist & a human being. It's part of what makes him so endlessly fascinating.

I could never get behind the Jehovas' Witness thing because I've celebrated birthdays and Christmas forever. Mj should not have been ridiculed or shunned for using God's talents for good, and I feel bad that he lived with that guilt for most of his life just because he didn't live the way they think he should have. Billy Jean (not the woman's real name) is about a woman who accused Jackson of fathering her child. He's singing about court & that it's not his child, etc. This was factual in his life. It's a great song & hopefully it taught youngsters to have morals.

But you cannot blame the woman. The white especially want to give MJ there own children too. The fake ones that he bought whose father are now telling the world that they are his children which one is better... They rubbish his life because Satan and his followers are the cause of his faill life. . They make sure they possess him with a mad spirit before he disappear . And inside of him, he is not mad . Even the children they told him to pay for, are plant there by the cult in his life for there mission together with the white children.

Jehovah witnesses are completely different. You have the choice to serve Jehovah the way he ask of us, which is through the bible or not at all. Any other religion would have accepted Mike to do as he pleased because of his fame. Most other churches would have let Mike bend the rules because of all of his money and fame. But not the Jehovah's witnesses. A true witness all served God the way he ask, no matter who you are. No man is above God, this is why Mike felt so guilty. It was a hard choice he had to make. Mike problems started as soon as he made his decision.

Well, just remember that you must keep the sabbath, break bread and receieve it as the body of Christ, be baptized and so on. Btw, in the Acts of the Apostles you can see that the Church of Christ is institutionalized headed by Peter and James sending apostles to spread the Gospel. They also had fixed ceremonies which have been kept to this day in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches. Jesus also said to His disciples "take the holy spirit. He will teach you everything". Jesus also said that He didnt teach His students everything, only what they needed to know for the time being. Thats why He sent the Holy Spirit who is supposed to lead us and teach us everything. Which means the Bible is not enough and we were given the holy spirit to be able to learn more. Nevertheless we have to keep an eye out for false prophets.

Dis fellowship is you can't do field service if you aren't in Harmony with what you are preaching. Michael could got the privileges back if he wanted to. He just felt it better to leave. I believe Michael always kept the same belief. You see it with his love for the animals, his charity work and also making his house a paradise on earth. Asking for forgiveness , asking him to watch over my family & myself , thanking him 4 what we have n don't have, cause we all need to be thankful every day, not just in Thanksgiving...praying for the loss of ppl, asking for protection n blessings, n 4 him to makes a better person...nobody can compare to him ever n he knows it , he's king of Kings n Lord of Lord...last i ask him to understand me that by being a fan of Michael Jackson, im not putting God last, n im not comparing Michael Jackson, or any other person to him in any way...this is totally a Different page its a different story, here on Earth, i know the bible says not to have idols, but it don't mean that cause i have mags, pics, shirt, records, etc of Michael Jackson, in no way does it mean i worship Michael...at least thats what i think, cause if that were the case then that means that id would've be kneeling myself in front of Michael, n asking for forgiveness of my sins , n ask him to do miracles etc, But i didn't do that...just that I ❤ Michael Jackson & his 🎶 that's all😢🙏😇💔

Me as a former member of Jehovah's Witness organization, I can totally relate with Michael in this case. I still pray to Jehovah God each day and only come to the Memorial of Christ. I'm currently participating in the school band, which is something I would be prohibited from, though I didn't recieve much pressure since I was still in middle school, though I was told to be careful. When it comes to holidays, I treat it like it's a normal day just like what Michael considers about holidays. Especially in our local Winter Concert performances, there may be Christmas content in a piece but I don't really label it Christmas, but rather a work of art. Just like I do in all holiday music, despite what it really intends to glorify. When it comes to patriotic situations, like performing the Star-Spangled Banner in Friday Night Football games, I still play not through dedication to it's message, but as a catchy, fun and enjoyable piece of music to play. In Birthday celebrations, I would most likely go only because it's a great time to spend with friends and have fun playing games and everything. I never wish anyone a happy birthday because that's something you should be proud of everyday. The same with Mother's/Father's Day because you should always honor your parents everyday. My whole point is that I am basically still a Jehovah's Witness in a more personal way, as a devoted Christian, without the pressure of others trying to tell me how to serve God.

He instructed all of his followers, "keep doing this [passover of wine and unleavened bread] in remembrance of me" --Luke 22:19 Jesus NEVER mentioned "Christmas"/his supposed "birthday" to his followers. So if you don't take part in Jesus's Memorial, how can you be a follower of him? Yes, we know Jesus is alive in heaven now, but memorial = "something, especially a structure, established to remind people of a person or event" LOL....

This somehow remindes me of the joke of believer who asks God to save him from drowning , and after getting help from lots of people which he all refuses asked God why didn't He save him, to which He responded that he already sent boats, men... Such a tiny Congregation as Jehovah but with such egos, blinded by sheer arrogance decided to attack him instead of using to expand their faith.

The Jacksons were under contract to make that Christmas album. They never celebrated Xmas!

We pray that Michael's soul may rest well, and that God may have mercy on him. As a Christian, I find the faith aspect of his life fascinating. While he clearly had lots of spiritual turmoil in his life, he always seemed modest and true. I hope he died with God's peace in his heart.

Yes but he also said in the 2003 MJ Home Videos special that after that Christmas he cried from guilt because due to his upbringing he still felt like it was wrong

I'm really proud that I'm a Christian unlike Jehovahs witness nothing like celebration, I'm not condemming the religion I'm just expressing my opinion and I'm glad that Michael jackson didn't backslide and also became a Christian

The dancing video is him in 1984 after scalp surgery for the time he burned his hair during the Pepsi commercial. The second video is just a rehearsal, I'm not sure where

I was raised in this religion and I was always surprised that Katherine and Rebbie were still allowed to still speak and associate with Michael. Usually when you ‘disassociate’ you are treated the same as if you were ‘disfellowshipped’ I.e. shunned, no communication whatsoever! Which is why people call it a cult (something I agree with).Thank God MJ, The Jackson 5 and Janet had Joseph, and didn’t listen to the elders, imagine if they did. Religious indoctrination makes you to ignore your intuition and abandon critical thought through fear, in their case Armageddon.
