Great video man! Livers and Wagner are easily the two most underrated scorers in the big-tem, hell in the country for that matter. They get alot of praise for their defense, with Wagner being one of the best at team d by using his length and the athleticism to get a bunch of steals and blocks, while Livers is def the better at on the ball defending - and can effectively shut down everyone from a SG to a PF because of the fact he's almost as long and athletic as Wagner while also having better foot-speed and strength/toughness. Because they have such a balanced offensive attack, these two guys PPG average doesn't come close to doing them justice with regards to how unstoppable they can be. Both get a ton of credit for one facet of their offensive skill while not getting any on the other aspects of their game. Wagner is praised for his slashing capability, but is a deadly outside shooter as well, and Livers is know for being a great shooter, but he also a great slasher off the dribble combined with being an unstoppable post scorer against the other teams SF's or even their PF's, (though he usually gets merely one or two times per game to demonstrate as much). The coverage other is very reminiscent of past great Wolverines, Tim Hardaway Jr and Stauskas. Both of who were way more than simply great shooters, in fact during that 2013 year Hardaway Jr may have been even better at driving to the hoop than he was at shooting it. Unfortunately Beilein's offense was extremely stagnant and involved a lot of passing the ball around way behind the three point line and alot of PG dribbling the ball around, with little to zero post-up opportunities despite having Mitch McGary. This lead to a promotion of three point shooting as well as Burke doing the majority of the shooting, and both Hardaway Jr and Stauskas never were able to demonstrate just how well rounded their offensive skill-set was. To this day i still think they would have won it all if they had instead a pass-first PG like Mike Smith or Derrick Walton Jr. Anyways, This team's top three, Livers, Dicksenon, and Wagner - may not be as good as the top three players for Gonzaga and Baylor, but there's no denying that they are deeper and are at least every bit as well-rounded offensively, combined with being better defnesinvely to boot!

do you think the minnesota game is an outlier or are they potentially susceptible to heavy post denial in tournament play?
@blomeup2day
@blomeup2day 3 жыл бұрын
I think if they were still susceptible to low post entry problems, Michigan would have lost more games since Minnesota. The level of scouting in the big ten is elite. Hunter struggled after the Minnesota game, but the team appears to have solved the entry passes and the hard doubles.

Remember also that Minnesota was playing really good ball at home back then. They crushed Ohio State in their previous home game before Michigan. Eli Brooks also missed that game. Just one of those games that happens sometimes, and seems to have served to refocus the team.

@@user-og3ew6fo9v zags and baylor both being undefeated makes that loss seem worse than it is, but the reality is that over the course of 20+ games against extremely strong competition there will be a night or two where things just don't go your way.

While Michigan does have one of the stronger schedules in the country, I think many people still overlook the ease of their B10 schedule. Sure when this was made they had 1 bad loss to MN, and since lost to Illinois, but when looking at Q1 record, a lot of highly ranked B10 teams had a considerable amount more Q1 games with a similar amount of wins. If Michigan had to play 12 Q1 games like Illinois I doubt they go the record they have now. Is Michigan elite, yes. Are they national contenders, or even B10 contenders given the strength of the B10 this year, probably not.
