As a LORRRREEEE enthusiast I really enjoyed ep 5. People who don’t appreciate the lore will probably find the episode mid. Thats probably why, as I said on multiple occasions, Yagsterr is a certified ep 5 hater 💀 He doesn’t really seem to care about the hidden story. If you focus on the story, it really covers up the other “bad” parts.

Episode 5 is a decent episode on its own, but is a TERRIBLE memory flashback episode, which is supposed to explain lore and answer plot points. Instead its just chaos and way more plot points with no answers at all

As a self-contained story…it’s fine…as part of a bigger story, my main questions are “how did we get here?” “What’s going on?” And “how much of this ACTUALLY happened?” As much as I like this show as a whole, the fact that those first two questions are reoccurring in practically every episode, is a problem…it reminds me of a story I have that I’m in the (very slow) process of reworking, where it feels like it’s trying to do too many things at once, it want to be a mystery, clear, action, comedy, and horror all at the same time, but the balance is HORRIBLY off (Somewhat understand, but I refuse to believe V is permanently dead until proven otherwise)

While from a glance it’s not a bad episode, I feel like what killed it for me the most was my expectations. I expected it to be a lore heavy episode focused on slowing down and explaining how it all began. I expected the series to start taking itself seriously in preparation for the final episodes. To really deep dive into some of the lore and character backgrounds and what absolute solver really is. While it did some of that, I could tell that wasn’t the main priority. Comedy was first priority, and it absolutely killed so many crucial scenes in the episode. Biggest example being the murder gala. This was supposed to be Tessa trying to stop the most traumatic moment of her life, and they treat it like a skit with her throwing objects at Cyn. Like holy hell, how am I supposed to take Tessa’s backstory seriously when even her darkest moments are riddled with slapstick humor? There’s a time and a place for jokes, but that definitely wasn’t it.

I’m having trouble calling this episode a “flashback” because that fundamentally means going back into the past to accurately depict events. We technically did not go back in the past in this episode, as this is simply us diving into current N’s memories, and this did not super accurately depict events as Uzi was doing things here, and N’s program was actively messing with his mind. So the only thing we can gather from this episode are vague ideas, and nothing specific and concrete. That’s a problem. Also 9:03 I appeared in one of your video omg I can die happy thanks comrade :)

I honestly thought it was fine for a "flashback", but it seems like they pushed for uzi to be in this. It could have just been a flashback without Uzi having a role in it. Other than that I don't mind the humor in intense moments to much, but I also wish for the lore that I could actually understand what it was saying. Anyway I love your videos Yagsterr keep up the good work!

This episode isnt bad, just compared to the rest is bad, is something that I think needs to be understanded, because, if you never saw murder drones, and you only see ep5 its really good acctually, but I think that glitch could have done better, specialy with the merch begging cyn my favorite chracter, and something cool would be that they put some little balls on the head so you know, broken neck haha. Anyways thats my oppinion, the only good characters begging Cyn and PAST tessa, and then theres full-zi-crow

Also i noticed how in the trailer of the finale the mansion appeared, so maybe they are trying to remake episode 5 to solve the problems or maybe is a flashback, something like that

Every episode of MD follows the same path in which theres a fight and murder towards the end. This is the only episode that lacked one. I feel like this episode was rushed since it was also short, I was surprised while watching the premiere when the episode ended. Not saying it was bad but every other episode was so much better that this one felt weaker.

I won't say the episode is "mid" or even all out terrible... I believe the episode had a good setting, good characters... cough cough J... and mostly a good concept. However on the other hand, it didn't really have a good narrative structure... this is mostly because the scene that we would love to see are sadly cut or not shown too greatly... and in my opinion... what episode 5 struggles with the most... balance. The pacing either felt very slow or little too fast sometimes, but the thing that takes the cake here for me is the tone it was going for at first. Episode 5 was meant to be a grounded serious episode, hence the lore, however instead... we got a episode that really doesn't know what it was meant to be sometimes. It never felt it was taken that serious. On the positive note, it was really nice to see more of the human side of Murder Drones. It what the story really need at this point. Overall Review... a 6.8/10

Imo, Uzi, physically, should have not been involved at all. Plain as. Without her overly annoying (and ‘uwu pick me’) presence, we can see N be a solo role and solve the mystery of the Solver alone. Give him a spotlight role to show he can be competent without her the entire time. Maybe give V some time to shine as a competent character again too. Having Uzi communicate only through telepathy like she did at the start of the episode, would have been a much better direction to go. You can definitely see the cracks forming with MD starting with Ep3, and it got *really* bad by this point. Visual eye-candy is not enough to save anything from flaw, and MD is no acceptation. Especially after this episode.

I said this before, but it’s the pacing for me. It’s a balanced episode, not because everything compliments each other, but because the good and the bad balanced each other out. The good was the Lore. I’m a lore freak, I need to know what is happening, how it happened, and what the events that led up to this conflict means for the end. How will what has already happened influence how things will end? And the lore provides me with just the information that I need to make informed inferences. The bad was the pacing. I would like a broken record at this point, but the pacing was all off. Are we focusing on this wholesome scene between N and V, or are we focusing on the fact that N got his memories back and recognizes Uzi now? Is Tessa trying to fight Cyn in secret, or is she just trying to not die? Oh cool, an epic fight scene. Why are we looking down a dark hallway now? Where is my fight scene? What is HAPPENING?! It’s all about the pacing. If a segment has bad pacing, it will likely be the most hated segment in the entire story. And Murder Drones Episode 5 is the perfect example of that. It was a decent episode once I watched it 27 times in a row to actually understand what was going on.

My only problem witg ep 5 is Uzi's appearance in it in the sense that her existing kinda ruins the fact it's meant to be a FLASHBACK. Especially since she kinda led the whole episode so we really didn't get to see how it actually planned out.

I did like the lore drop and tessa and cyn, but I hated the amount of screen time V got. I wish we could’ve seen some actual fight scenes like every other episode, because for me I enjoy the big fights we get at the end of each one, but this one literally didn’t have anything and it felt so incomplete. Also, I want to create a video myself, but what video creating platform do you use?

The episode did have a lot of problems, but it's not that terrible, it's true (to be honest, for me, despite the fact that this episode caused me some doubts about it, there are no episodes that I would hate or something like that). The episode could bring something good and also something bad. As you and Vanitymoth have already said, Tessa, J and Cyn were pretty good. Unlike other episodes, Tessa was revealed to us in more detail here, how sweet and kind she was to worker drones, while other residents of the mansion on the contrary, and how her own parents treated her. The moment of the massacre at the gala eventually built her a goal in the future: to protect the world from the Absolute Solver at all costs. Here, finally, we were shown that J is not as rude as she was in the pilot episode, which revealed her a little better. Cyn was a great source of comedy and also the main source of horror (and of course the lore). It's a pity that V was given almost no screen time at all. This episode could have shown more of her behavior in the past, what she was like and how she interacted with other characters around, for example, more moments of her relationship with N, but unfortunately we didn't see that. What really catches my eye is the overly frequent jokes that come across in the wrong places and the uneven pace of the episode, which made it quite difficult for me personally to watch it. And at the same time, I'm not going to be aggressive about episode 5 after that right now. The episode gave us some kind of lore of the past. So I'm staying neutral. This video is amazing, Yagsterr! Thank you for sharing your opinion on this matter, and not only yours. Special thanks for my inserted comment in this video! I appreciate it!

No matter how flawed Murder Drones can be, I cant help but still love it for any paticular reason. (Or remembering some positives-) Like the body horror in some things, the dynamics, story elements, characters...and so on that makes MD good in its own way! (Or just passable-)

Honestly, I fully agree Ep 5 is the weakest of the Murder Drones series of the six we've seen so far. It has its good moments to be frank, such as Tessa, Cyn and some of the lore involving N's past, but the terrible jokes, the abysmal pacing and extremely confusing narrative involving Uzi hacking N and V's memories just overall made it very disappointing at best and flat out irritating at worst. And that's not even taking into account Khan just being plain insufferable when it came to his interaction with Doll. I mean, this is the same drone that literally committed mass genocide of her classmates a mere two episodes before this and he doesn't even bat an eye at her showing up to his home. It's like he doesn't even care anymore about that. -.- All and all, I wouldn't say I hate this episode, but I definitely do not like it much overall. It could have done so much better when it came to showing the past of N and V, but instead we get this. I just don't understand why Liam focused so much time on crow Uzi rather than N and V when the whole episode was supposed to about them in the first place.

In my opinion, J didnt develop in Home. It expanded her. Development is when someone or a charecter changes into a different person overtime. Sure, J realized that JCJenson didnt send her after all and switched sides but she didnt show any regret for killing worker drones probably because she thought there was a possibility they couldve had the Absolute Solver and or because she really doesent care about anyone outside of her, Tessa and JCJenson. Sure, shes trying to save The Universe but shes probably only doing so she, Tessa and JCJenson cant die and or because JCJenson wants her to do it and possibly because she thinks JCJenson trying to save the universe is cool. Since she looks up to JCJenson. Also, Uzi being a tsundere dosent make sense because she learned to open up to N and wouldnt she want to be more nice if she wanted to earn Ns trust when they were in N and Vs memory? Well, you could say J developed alot when she was being reprogrammed into a dissasembly drone and is now alot more morally worse.

I think episode 5 was OK. For me, it just really wasn’t developed really well, and it didn’t tie together with episode 4. It was just more of a flashback that just confused me. I think it was a pretty OK episode, but definitely not the best in the series overall.

I get what you are saying. The biggest flaw for me is how confusing this episode is on a first watch. I had no idea what was happening at this point. The jokes and pacing I understand and V didn't need lines to be developed the lines she had in that scene did the work.

I enjoy rewatching all the episodes of Murder Drones. But whenever I get to episode 5 it is always the hardest to watch. It’s still a great episode, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just a hard watch for me. But lore wise I think it’s decently necessary for the series and gives a background to a lot of what is happening.

Bit of a long rant coming up I love this episode personally. I really enjoy lore and this filled my craving of understanding stuff. I don’t get how people watch md for something that isn’t lore, not hating on those people but I genuinely just don’t get it V is my favourite character, and i do agree that she was completely robbed, she lacked screen time and it kills me every time i think about it. But Again, i’m a lore obsessed person so i really enjoyed getting to know more about everything. I loved the atmosphere there was, the elliot mansion is stunning on inside and out and I genuinely really like the way they chose to add thunder and play with the lighting I agree the humor was poorly timed, but it was in my opinion still amusing. The jokes were (again, imo) good, but it would’ve been better if they were at a different time The best part of this episode in my opinion was Cyn though. I love her character and while she doesn’t top V on my list (mostly cuz im biased for V) she’s definitely my second favourite. She’s such an interesting character and i love how they played around with her movements like giving her a t-rex walk or having her push her head up from time to time. She’s really cute and I feel bad for her being infected by the AS. She’s basically being controlled like a puppet by that infection, just like Uzi in ep 4 (i think it was ep 4-) I know a lot of people don’t like the episode because it’s not focused on Uzi at all, but I personally liked that we got a break from her and got a look at other and new characters. I know Uzi is the mc, but my point still stands It’s not the best episode, but it’s definitely not the worst. I honestly don’t think murder drones has a single bad episode except for the pilot. (The pilot is fine but it’s not all that good, it’s a nice brief intro to the series but i wish the pilot wasn’t an official episode) in my opinion I could go on but I don’t wanna make this comment too long lmao

@@Yagsterr OKAY I rememberfd to come back for once LOL I look into scenes and moments WAY too much so don’t mind when i’m ranting on about something really minor😭 Anyways I also really love the dynamics/interactions N had with everyone, especially Cyn and V I’m a massive envy shipper and while i was disappointed V barely got screen time i am glad the bit of screen time she got was feeding my envy craving. I really like how N is towards Cyn, he really just doesn’t judge anyone and he’s always been like that, it’s cute. I really like how despite Cyn being messed up and all he still tried to be gentle with her, even in the basement when he basically was about to get attacked by Cyn/the AS I also love the concept of the humans being shadows, because it doesn’t take away the attention from the main focus which are the drones. Despite the humans being just black with white dots they still managed to give them a lot of character and expressions which is impressive, it’s also one of my (many) reasons why i like the episode lmao. Its not my favourites but definitely not my least favourite either The scene with the gala where Cyn says “you didn’t have to see this” while she’s the AS form or wtv its called, like with all the camera looking things and stuff really gave me goosebumps. Its disappointing they cut away from it but for me, and probably a lot of others it still left the effect that it was probably intended to give. The lighting was absolutely gorgeous in it and the way everything moved was really satisfying. And when it cuts to N in the basement, you can hear people screaming and yelling. I love that they did that in stead of just keeping it quiet and moving on completely. Also, since Tessa was there too but she obviously survived, it means that she saw everyone getting attacked which is a traumatising event for her probably, it’s sad to think about😭 The AS infected V is really well done, i wish we saw more of it but i’m not incredibly disappointed by it One thing i really wished we had way more of was Doll at the end with J and Tessa before the trio came in, of course it had to be rushed though since there probably wasn’t enough time. Also the argument between Uzi and Doll is not talked enough about

This episode is without a doubt the worst of all of Murder Drones episodes so far, I wouldn't say it's awful, but it's very generic and forgettable, the humor is trash, the writing is terrible, N is just a goofball who just gets in the way of others, the inclusion of Uzi here is unnecessary, the way Cyn goes from a supposedly friendly girl to the biggest threat in the world is predictable and happens VERY quickly, tiring pacing, and a rushed ending. It does have its pros like the animation, Cyn (Even wasted) carried the episode along with J and Tessa, J and Tessa's B Plot is the best part of the episode, and the ending I found interesting. Overall, it's not bad, but it is a deep disappointment that without a doubt could to be better. 5/10.

When I first saw ep 5 during the part when N was being harrased by the crows I first thought that N somehow gets out of the chains half-dead and crawling back to the manor to get fixed. Then the comedy ruined what coulda been a good plot point for me.

Tbh I think my biggest beef with this episode is that it ticks WAY too far between humor and horror. I will defend the comedy of this show most of the time, but in this case there was WAY too much comedy. It's supposed to cover N and V's darkest hour in their past, but the tone just doesn't feel like it. (WROTE THIS OUT BEFORE YAG TALKED ABOUT IT. Dang, same wavelength) I will defend Uzi being in this episode, though. N had been saving Uzi every episode until this one. It was about time that Uzi returned the favor (and might I add, she sacrificed the literal key to understanding herself to save N. Girl has had great character development). It's still my least favorite episode, though.

Haven't watched the video yet but I always thought this one was off like the comedy sabotaging the main plot feels even more direct than usual like Cyn being the one to create the muder drone parts it's kind of treated like a big twist but I was like what is going on here? Like I feel like such a big reveal should be taken more seriously than just a joke about trauma from N.

I enjoy the episode but it did confuse me of the timeline. At least when did Cyn make the disassembly drone and send them to earth. Sure its in the timeline but of course episode 6 seems to hint with N x Uzi. At least to me.

Honestly, I don't think Episode 5 is that bad. N is the main focus of the episode, we got an introduction to Tessa, and there are a lot of hilarious moments in this episode.

I really only liked the background music, My opinion nothing else is really good about it other than the character design but the music atleast is trying to give the episode its theme.

I think there is something wrong with me or i dont know... but i think i can only put one murder drones fan side story to my main timeline of Murder Drones and i didn't know that... I played akinator and the character i was thinking about got some questions answered "probably" if yer know what i mean (the does your character have a child)

Without this episode i wouldn't like the show anywhere near as much. It may have more problems than the others but it also introduced a lot of depth and substance that the other ones just didn't. I'd rather take that over the paper thin pilot, 2 and 4. Plus the lore, it should probably be considered for the episode so focused on it that it has to sacrifice the other aspects. Without the lore the show is kind of a joke anyway And it's the only episode that doesn't make me want to scratch my eyes out in cringe every other minute

I liked (loved actually) this episode (even the general story excluding lore, which I also loved.) UNTIL Uzi showed up. Like girl, let us have a flashback episode without this garbage “OH F! THESE MEMORIES ARE BEING DELETED” plot. PLEASE! Also, LET US HAVE GOOD FIGHT SCENES! Like who actually thought “Oh we should have the fight scenes happen almost entirely offscreen.”? I agree with the points about comedy. *jesus christ with the egg scene* BUT SERIOUSLY LET US HAVE AN EPISODE ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING STARTED WITHOUT INSERTING THE PRESENT DAY! PLEASE!!!!! (Also what the world even happened when Doll showed up?) BUT PLEASE! V AND J NEED SCREEN TIME!!!!! I didnt thought about it but now seeing everything now, I do see this episode being a mid and the weakest out of all episodes. The lore and the affection was mediocre, all the emotions you could feel were just simply not there. I dont hate this episode but I do agree they didnt do good and it could improve. Edit: I forgot to mention that I also think that pieces of the lore is missing with this episode when it was supposed to fill the blanks, most of the lore is there but there are a few things missing in it that help make it more sense, although that could just be them hiding for the future episodes.

its not the best episode, its got many flaws, but its not a failure of an episode. it did what it wanted to do, to varying degrees of success, but we got to learn about the origins of the absolute solver through cyn, we got to actually see tessa's personality outside of "oo robots" and "yes mother", and we saw that V actually does care for N for the first time. its probably the weakest episode out of the 6, but its not a failure.
