Sometimes I feel like I would have been a better yoyoer if I never knew about the competition scoring rules. Often I would see a trick that looks interesting, but decide not to learn it because it doesn't click well. I'm not that serious of a player and I don't plan to compete, but a trick being "suboptimal" just makes it feel like it's pointless to get good at. As a result, all of my combos are very difficult with lots of scoring elements crammed into them, and since I don't have the time or dedication to spend hours a day practicing, I don't have a combo that I'm 80% consistent at.

Same tbh, there's a very transactional nature to yoyoing when you view it that way. It can even stunt your development I've found.

it doesn't, he's putting points not clicks, all element counts as clicks and some elements got double or triple clicks, the total points are relative to your competitor, if you're doing a demo there shouldn't be any points. so, for example if the most clicked competitor did 180 clicks (for simplicity) and you did 150 clicks, then 3 clicks would be equalized as 1 points, so the winner get 60 points, and you get 50 points, obviously this is only 60% of the total points

And if this score is relative to the competitors in Melbourne Regional, then Brandon would only be second place there😂 which just couldn’t be right since he is like 2 levels above everyone there

@@zhengyuanluo4623 skill has nothing to do with clicks, elements is elements and you can make the "unclickest?😂" freestyle of all time regardless of skill, the points in the left corner is bs. The difference between old school scoring and new school scoring is string touch and elements, nowadays each unique elements would score, difficult elements (depends on the judge) would sometime gives you double or triple points, speed combo still clicks nicely but it's limited because there's only so much unique elements you can do in a speed combo, as opposed to tech combo, tech have a lot of elements that are so unique to the point it would seem infinite

I noticed on your horizontal combo at 9:30, it only scored 1 point the entire time, does this mean that horizontal just isn't as worth it as other genres of tricks? And if so, should someone just not use zontal for 1-2 minute freestyles?

It seems like he made that specific zontal to not score as high, I personally score his actual zontal around 10, but I haven’t seen it in a while so I need to check lol, but yeah, zontal is definitely worth it if you can actually pull off the zontal tricks that actually score high

So my opinion is, I did a horizontal rail combo, identical to the one I already did vertically. The whole thing is a repeated element, so I get one click for the added horizontal difficulty, and that's about it.

@@supreme-rc2mf not always, though most of the time, it is usually 1 or 2 clicks more, depending on how horizontal it is, since some tricks click +2 normally and +3 at, say, 45% zontal, for example, kohei bind, it’s still worth it since you get more clicks but it is also riskier since you have a higher chance of missing it
