Hi bud, fellow U.K. off grinder here, just found your channel. If you’re welding metal that’s galvanised just be careful breathing it in as it is poisonous and gives you flu like symptoms. If you do get a dose, even with selective breathing, then drink plenty of milk as this helps purge the poison from your blood. If you want fabrication drawings for a steel framed building then let me know, I’ve been building them for years. I have a workshop that is off grid with a lathes, milling machine and wood working tools etc, anything is possible with the right knowledge, remember nothing that is worth having is easy to get!! Metal is surprisingly interesting. If you have a complex metal structure - where nonetheless all the metal parts are still connected, you only need one sacrificial zinc node screwed onto the structure for it to not rust. With wood, you do not have this property; you got to make sure all of it stays dry - or you got to make sure all of it stays treated and re-treaded every few years with oil based paint or similar.

That frame looks amazing. I remember my dads 1st bit of freestyle self taught welding, he reattached a tow hitch onto an old trailer but on loading up the trailer it just snapped off. So we had an old chain he just tied it to the back of the tractor with and so it remained for years.

One lesson I learned the hard way. Let your chickens free range if you want to keep them healthy and happy but keep the chook shed close to the house so you can look out for the fox. The other brilliant device is the automatic solar powered door. Best money we ever spent. I weld but not enough to buy a welder. I borrow one. I prefer to use timber to steel.

I dont think id have made it this far without knowing how to weld! I will say the gas capable migs are a LOT better for weld quality but as youre outside youd want a peice of cardboard to hand for a windbreak when its gusty

I don’t think you could manage without welding skills and a welder. I have welded for nearly 50 years and always keep a pile of used steel.
